One-Eyed Monster

To others, jumping down from the carriage with fiery red hair required courage, and this jump meant that Igor and Kadi had completely broken away from the group of apprentices.

Of course, this wasn’t a big deal for Igor and Kadi because they never intended to follow the group with fiery red hair.

They quickly caught up with Brava’s carriage ahead. At this moment, Brava had already removed his makeup, revealing himself as the timid clown performer, whose exact name was still unknown.

However, this clown performer had a deep impression of Igor and Kadi. He thought these two guys were always his good friends, always standing by his side, fighting against something with him.

But he couldn’t really say what exactly he was fighting against.

He just felt that he was in a state of fear every moment.

This fear made him dread the greasepaint on his face and developed a repulsion towards being a clown.

Yet, it was this fear that made him grateful for the greasepaint because once he applied it, he would forget all fear and immerse himself wholeheartedly into the performance...

Now, without the makeup, he was in a state of vigilance towards everything, and it was in this state that he discovered Igor and Kadi rushing along the road...

He slowed the carriage’s pace, allowing Igor and Kadi to catch up, then he parked the carriage by the roadside, signaling Igor and Kadi to get on.

This action made everyone in the circus sneer.

Someday, the leader will send you to Hell!

Don’t think you can stay safe in the circus now; you will suffer in the future!

Hmph, those who caused us to lose money won’t have a good end!

...Countless grievances attacked Igor and Kadi from all directions.

However, these things didn’t affect Kadi and Igor in the slightest.

Igor and Kadi climbed onto Brava’s carriage just like that.

”Boss!” Igor tried to cozy up.

On the running road, Igor had already told Kadi that they couldn’t directly reveal their cards to Brava, even though they were now planning to rescue this clown performer, but they still couldn’t alarm the Soul Devourer on this guy!

Kadi naturally understood the seriousness of the situation, so he took Igor’s hint seriously, assuring Igor that he would not mess things up.

Brava looked at these two guys warily, remaining silent.

”Boss?” Igor greeted him again, for him this was the last chance to learn about Bern, something he would not easily give up.

This time Brava had a small reaction.

”You should be with them!” Brava said cautiously.

”Uh…” Faced with such a response, Igor didn’t know what to say. He felt that anything he said could cause misunderstandings, so it was better not to speak at this moment.

”Being with me, you’ll be rejected by them; they’ll consider you outsiders.” Brava said again, though Igor knew his name wasn’t Brava, he couldn’t find any code name to replace Brava at the moment.

”We have already been considered outsiders by them!” Igor said softly.

”Ah!” Brava sighed long and hard, ”Since it’s already like this, and you’re on my carriage, explanations will be hard.”

Igor shrugged, thinking, well then let us stay up here.

Brava pulled the reins, and the carriage returned to the center of the road, slowly heading forward.

”The thing you mentioned earlier, I’m somewhat familiar with.” Brava said.

”What are you referring to?” Igor was puzzled and wanted to ask clearly.

”It’s that thing about doing your own stuff!” The clown performer seemed to have been awakened by Igor and Kadi to memories long buried.

”But boss, you originally taught us to forget ourselves!” Igor tentatively asked, he too wanted to find out if this guy was really acting.

”That’s not me, you should know.” The clown performer looked sincerely at Igor and Kadi, seeming to think his gaze could genuinely move people.

But Igor and Kadi were no longer kids who acted rashly; they were very cautious and wouldn’t easily hand over their trust to the one before them.

After all, the person in front of them had a Soul Devourer.

Kadi looked at Igor, tapping his fingers on Igor’s body, exchanging in a code of courage language with Igor. He didn’t say much to Igor, just to enter the Inner World to see if this guy was truly sincere.

But Igor knew they couldn’t enter the Inner World now because it required both parties to be in a quiet environment, and now the clown performer was driving the carriage; he couldn’t risk a traffic accident to conduct Inner World exchanges.

Kadi shrugged, indicating he had no other good ideas.

Igor lightly coughed twice, indicating not to worry, he had a way to test it.

Actually, Igor himself wasn’t too sure; he just felt he could try, and to start with this character, Bern.

So Igor looked at the clown performer and smiled, ”We know now that forgetting oneself is not forgetting who you are, but just controlling your emotions…”

”That’s what the leader hoodwinked you with, don’t be fooled.” The clown performer continued, seemingly at this moment truly being the actual clown performer instead of Brava.

But Igor had to be careful, he cautiously said, ”We are new, don’t know whom to trust.”

This sentence also meant they dared not believe him now.

”I understand, I just want to tell you, don’t be deceived, stick to yourselves, so you won’t end up like me!”

Igor felt the clown performer was speaking the truth, but he still couldn’t risk it.

”We will do that!”

”Good.” The clown performer no longer spoke, focusing on driving the carriage.

”Boss!” Igor couldn’t help it; he needed to know what kind of person Bern was!

”Hmm?”

”That big guy Quinn, said he was recommended by Lord Bern, what really is Lord Bern’s status? Why does even the leader fear him!”

”It’s normal for newcomers to the circus not to know about Lord Bern.” The clown performer was not surprised by Igor’s question but felt it was quite normal.

”Lord Bern is the sponsor of our circus, oh, not just our circus, but should say all the large circuses in the Empire get his sponsorship!”

At this moment, the clown performer suddenly seemed like a different person, speaking eloquently.
