One-Eyed Monster

Igor didn’t know what was wrong with him; he always felt something was amiss. He was speaking the truth, but there was always a feeling that he was lying. This might be a subconscious aftereffect of Kadi’s big lie from before.

Igor found it curious; this was clearly a big lie told by Kadi. Why did he himself feel uneasy? Why would this aftereffect manifest in him? It was completely illogical.

Actually, he didn’t know, there aren’t many reasonable things in this world. For example, what’s the reason he can awaken those spirits more easily than others? He doesn’t have an extra eye or nose, so why can he and others cannot… This world is constituted by a hodgepodge of irrational things, and pursuing rationality too much would just lead him into a dead end.

In this regard, Kadi is much better than Igor. At least he wouldn’t set himself up for disappointment.

Now Kadi didn’t speak because he knew he wasn’t good at chatting in this area. He’s in a learning phase, and once he’s completely familiar with the situation, he might converse as freely as Igor. Maybe he’ll even do better than Igor.

Igor’s chat was nearing its end since they had already learned what they wanted to know. From chatting with this auntie, they gleaned much information about the circus.

Perhaps this circus wasn’t the one they were looking for, but as the auntie said, every circus has clowns, so this circus surely also contains information on the real clowns.

”It might be a bit early for you to go to the circus now,” the friendly auntie told Igor and his companions.

”Uh, yes, but we’re already eager to take a look.” Igor felt there was no need to tell the auntie too much.

”Oh, I see. Everyone is quite curious about the circus. When they first arrived, we all squeezed in to have a look.” This auntie didn’t pry too much, adequately fulfilling her role as a passerby.

The flag with stars guided Igor and his companions, directing them to the circus. After parting ways with the auntie, everything became straightforward, though their disguise felt a bit awkward.

”Do you think we can successfully meet the leader?” Igor asked Kadi with doubt.

”I think you chatted well with that auntie earlier...” Kadi responded off-topic, showing no concern for Igor’s question.

”Uh, can you be serious? Whether we can infiltrate the circus depends on what we do next!” Igor remained cautious.

”I’m very serious. It’s just you who aren’t serious enough.” Kadi looked down on Igor, feeling that Igor hadn’t immersed himself into his role; he had been covering for Igor all along.

This left Igor speechless, but he wasn’t angry, because now he and Kadi were on the same side. Only by finding the clowns could many of their doubts be resolved.

”Kadi, wait for me!” Igor hurried to catch up; it seemed Kadi’s desire to see the circus was stronger than Igor’s.

Kadi wanted to find his kind within the circus, which was his biggest wish now. He knew he was an anomaly in this world, so the question of where he came from had always troubled him. He wasn’t too concerned about where to go because, even if the whole world abandoned him, Guru Mountain would still welcome him back.

Looking at Kadi’s hurried steps, Igor quickened his pace. He felt he was seriously failing his duties. Originally, he promised to take good care of Kadi after descending the mountain, but now it’s Kadi who’s covering for him everywhere; he was simply following Kadi around!

His promises to the elders of Guru Mountain seemed to mock him, calling him boastful. Previously, he could argue back, but now, hahaha, he just wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

Too many irrational things existed!

Igor felt his worldview had never been as overturned as it was today.

Was lying right or wrong? The answer in Igor’s heart used to be unequivocally wrong, but now that answer was teetering!

Kadi’s lie was for their setup—damn, the setup he himself came up with. Thinking back on why he came up with this setup, wasn’t it so Kadi wouldn’t know some things about the Agent of Destruction? Was concealing things from Kadi right? That didn’t seem to be the case either!

The more Igor thought, the more chaotic it became, and he felt the entire world was becoming unreasonable.

What should I do? Igor’s scalp tingled at this thought. He felt he couldn’t understand this situation no matter what.

Kadi’s lie weighed heavily on him. When chatting with others, it was a bit better, but now that he quieted down, his mind was full of this entire matter!

Can’t think, can’t think… Igor constantly forced himself not to think about these things.

Think about something else, um, just think about the Star Circus.

With Kadi not talking to him, Igor had to find something new to focus on, or he’d continue to wrestle with whether that lie was right or wrong.

All of Igor’s current information about the Star Circus came from that auntie just now.

First, the Star Circus isn’t small. Their fame might not be as resounding as the Sun Circus, but they’re quite well-known. Secondly, the leader of this circus is an Animal Trainer, so there must be some beasts in the circus. Furthermore, their aces are the dwarf band and the aerialists, both renowned groups. Finally, the Star Circus also has clowns, but they’re not the main attraction…

Igor organized these pieces of information, finding them quite useful in his mind.

Based on the information Rona mail birds previously provided about the circus organization, the Star Circus shouldn’t be too weak. Once non-adventurers transcend spirit power, the distinction with adventurers virtually disappears. From the current appearance, the main forces in this Star Circus are Fighters and Hunters. The aerialists are Fighters skilled in physique techniques, while the Animal Trainer and dwarf band are Hunters...

Igor can only deduce these conclusions for now.
