One-Eyed Monster

Flamelash is the name Igor gave to this sword technique for Nonoa. At first, Nonoa didn’t think much of the name, but in this most difficult moment, hearing the name sounded incredibly cool.

If in the end, I can’t escape the disgusting face of the Soul Devourer, I hope every sword strike I wield will be a flame!

”Alright, Igor! Let’s use our last bit of energy to slash out flames.” Nonoa no longer had any extra energy to maintain this body. Once all the energy was released, his body would disintegrate, and he himself would become a wandering consciousness once more...

But he no longer cared about this. For the things he protects, he felt it was worth collapsing.

”We’ll be fine, don’t worry.” Igor swung a sword directly. He was a half-baked swordsman; this sword technique was beautiful, but its power was greatly reduced, and the Sword Qi couldn’t even howl.

Nonoa saw the few Soul Devourers rushing toward him; they showed no intention of dodging. These ragged figures ran with hands and feet, their hunched bodies no longer resembling humans. They tilted their heads, opened their mouths, and abruptly consumed the Sword Qi.

”Igor, be careful!” Nonoa couldn’t slash out Sword Qi anymore. He could only rely on the most primitive Physique Technique to block. The hunched Soul Devourer had already leaped toward Igor. He could only shout loudly to warn Igor. If his energy was sufficient, he would’ve slashed a sword already.

After hearing the warning, Igor quickly moved back, but the leaping Soul Devourer adjusted itself. This creature kicked twice mid-air, changing direction, and from its moves, it looked like it wasn’t even pouncing on Igor!

The Soul Devourer leaped in the air, opened its large mouth, and thick liquid dripped continuously to the ground. Then, a yellow light gradually formed in its mouth, as if it was about to pour out from above...

”What is this...” Igor was a little confused.

Not to mention Igor, even Nonoa couldn’t understand the situation. As a veteran who had been in the Border Realm for so long, it was the first time encountering this attack method.

However, the brewing time of the yellow light sphere was a bit long, enough time for Igor to dodge to the other side. It’s really unclear what those Soul Devourers were up to.

When Igor thought he had avoided the attack from the yellow light sphere, something unexpected happened.

The yellow light sphere directly dispersed in the air, turning into a net, which expanded its area, making it impossible for Igor to avoid it!

”So, they always wanted him intact!” Nonoa murmured to himself, finally understanding the actions of those Soul Devourers.

The target was Igor, he had originally guessed this, but he didn’t expect that they wanted to capture Igor instead of directly consuming him, which explained why they brought so many; they even dispatched six Intermediate Soul Devourers. No, it should be six High-Rank Soul Devourers now.

The appearance of these few Soul Devourers was puzzling to Nonoa. He had encountered many Soul Devourers, but it was the first time experiencing such treatment.

Six Intermediate Soul Devourers were more than enough to encircle half of his mastery, and now he realized the true purpose was not about him. He could transform two swords into one to cut these Soul Devourers because they wanted to take Igor back completely intact.

This net was the answer. Nothing could be clearer than this net.

If Igor was so important to these Soul Devourers, he definitely couldn’t let them succeed.

The net tightly wrapped around Igor, and more crucially, it seemed to be able to restrict Igor from releasing energy!

”This is!” Realizing something was wrong, Nonoa rushed over and drove a sword to flick away the hand reaching out to Igor.

Crack... the Soul Devourer’s hand was as hard as steel, shaking even Nonoa’s arm!

”What’s going on? Why can’t I slash Flamelash anymore!” Igor shouted loudly inside the net, feeling the situation was entirely off!

”Don’t move, this is a Spirit Binding Net, it can stop the flow of energy, if you release energy again...” Before Nonoa could finish, he was attacked by another Soul Devourer.

The other side used three Soul Devourers to control the Spirit Binding Net, while three others were responsible for offense, cover, and retreat.

Nonoa saw that the opponent had no intention of fighting him, just completely intent on taking Igor away immediately.

”No way!” Nonoa shouted, disregarding everything, bending his knees, crouching, releasing energy!

Slash——a sword was swung out!

The Sword Qi howled with full power, like a violent wind sweeping towards the six High-Rank Soul Devourers!

Screech——the Spirit Binding Net wrapping Igor was torn open with a fissure by the Sword Qi, and Nonoa also collapsed, his energy depleted!

”Nonoa!” Igor shouted!

Igor knew this was Nonoa’s desperate strike, nearly exhausting the entire energy, which was used to maintain this body. Now that the energy was gone, this body would slowly stop functioning, and Nonoa’s consciousness would begin to disintegrate, gradually turning into a wandering, selfless consciousness.

Igor slowly walked out from the net, and those few High-Rank Soul Devourers who were knocked down by the Sword Qi also slowly got up; the danger was not yet over.

Igor was now filled with rage. Nonoa was now like a person without consciousness. His consciousness was spreading, and it was unknown how long it would take to gather again. Igor walked directly toward Nonoa, trying to awaken this body, but the disintegration of consciousness was obvious. A body without energy struggled to move.

”He has already become a wandering consciousness!” a Soul Devourer said in an emotionless voice.

As Igor walked, the Soul Devourers followed him closely, afraid to act rashly.

”Get lost!” Igor, full of rage, threw his fury at the Soul Devourers.

”Hehe, he’s truly ungrateful!” another Soul Devourer said.

Only now did the Soul Devourers start speaking. Previously, they were silent, but now that the situation was set, they no longer tiptoed around.

”Young people are always impulsive.” No matter what the Soul Devourers said, their voices carried no emotion, sounding hollow.

”Come with us obediently, don’t make us use force!”

”We’ve been very polite, we haven’t even Devoured the fellow on your back. If you really like this guy’s body, you could Devour it...”

”I told you to get lost!” Igor, filled with rage, swung a sword directly!

”Ouch!” this sword startled those Soul Devourers, the power wasn’t small, the Sword Qi directly sliced a fissure into the ground!
