One-Eyed Monster

Igor’s loud shout made the people running ahead pause in surprise, not expecting this silent-running youth to have such a strong voice. This shout ”Ah” seemed to have a world-shaking feel to it!

No one expected, this boy was a troublemaker indeed!

Igor’s roar also made the flames chasing them tremble behind, seemingly startled as well.

At the same time, in the basement of Dean Hoffman’s office at Yonder Travel Academy, Perkins and others were also startled by the strange cry.

Perkins could hear it clearly; it was Igor screaming strangely. What exactly was happening below that would make Igor let out such a desperate scream!

”This…” Perkins hesitated, expressing his confusion about the sudden situation.

”Don’t worry, it’s normal!” Among them, Dean Hoffman was the calmest, as if everything was under control.

”Seeing Dean so calm, he must already know what’s going on.” Perkins quickly seized the opportunity, noticing Dean Hoffman’s composed demeanor, realizing Dean Hoffman knew what was happening.

”Indeed, this is a normal roar, and there will be even fiercer ones later!”

Before Dean Hoffman finished speaking, a shriek echoed out, fiercer and stranger than before.

”This… shouldn’t we go check it out?” Perkins was still quite worried, and Hustace shared the same feeling, asking in a weak voice.

”No need to, once Igor finds the Ice Bed, he will naturally quiet down, just like Tobin before.” Dean Hoffman said proudly, knowing the function of the Ice Bed he prepared for Tobin.

”Well, alright, but this scream can’t help but cause concern!”

”Don’t worry, this scream also indicates something; you should feel relieved. This shows that Igor is already on the same path as Tobin.”

”Indeed, Dean knows more about this!”

”Haha, I’ve observed this over the years; at first, I was as astonished as you all!”

”Now I understand why this staircase needed Dwarves to be installed; ordinary basements couldn’t contain these sounds!”

”Right, Dwarves are quite remarkable in this aspect; this staircase absorbs not only light but also sound, truly a genius creation!”

”If only the Dwarves applied their skills for serving people,” Perkins echoed feelingly along with Dean Hoffman.

”You wouldn’t know, without this Dwarves-built staircase, I would be tormented by the noise. Initially, it was nearly impossible to sleep day and night!”

”The noise is so loud, it’s difficult to sleep!” Perkins empathized.

”What’s the story behind this Ice Bed?” Hustace also joined the discussion.

”This is a long story.” Dean Hoffman began narrating slowly, as if reminiscing a delightful past.

”Did Tobin show any abnormalities?” Stan Sol also expressed interest, curious about what happened with Tobin.

As the witness at that time, Dean Hoffman felt compelled to share all the details, even though it was more a case of stumbling upon the solution; yet it managed to help Tobin.

”Back then, Tobin also screamed recklessly, but it wouldn’t wake him, causing a huge commotion.” Dean Hoffman reminisced wistfully, claiming to be in seclusion while dealing with the situation, ”As an old man, I couldn’t control the rampaging Tobin. Though he wasn’t violent, the heart-wrenching screams were unsettling.”

Everyone felt empathetic, Igor’s current scream really evoked sympathy; they wondered what kind of experience could cause such yelping!

”I thought Tobin’s body must have something wrong, surely pain in certain areas, so I began using my Spirit Power skills to check. Scholars can see certain numbers; I wanted to deduce Tobin’s issues from the numbers on his body.”

”Did you find anything then?” Perkins asked, intrigued by the Spirit Sensing Skill.

”Nothing gained, Numeric Sensing couldn’t discover anything, yet inadvertently, a glass of water led to a new discovery.”

”How so, what’s with the water!”

”You know, I didn’t dare touch Tobin, his body was scorching hot! Then accidentally spilling water on him, he let out a comfortable moan; brief but noticeable, requiring cooling!”

”Is this the origin of the Ice Bed?” Perkins was incredulous.

”Yes, you wouldn’t believe how intense the heat was; the water steamed away instantly!”

”My god! Wouldn’t the ice melt?” Hustace exclaimed, surprised by water evaporating; wouldn’t the Ice Bed melt away.

”This Ice Bed is special, not easily melting. It was truly fortunate to find a way to calm Tobin, allowing him to peacefully explore what he sought.”

Perkins found it strange why Dean Hoffman was so convinced he helped Tobin, wondering if the Ice Bed suppressed him.

Dean Hoffman shook his head repeatedly, ”Though I couldn’t see those numerical symbols from Tobin, the Spirit sensing interaction had some hints, Tobin gave feedback saying thank you. You might verify with Sol Brothers.”

Everyone turned to Stan Sol in unison.

Sol felt a bit embarrassed, ”Indeed, the situation was like this, Tobin didn’t wish to converse but I sensed his resolution. Daily feeling his blood flow, weak at times yet he was so calm… huh, seemingly something’s wrong!”

Stan Sol suddenly felt the blood flow from Tobin within him quicken unexpectedly, unlike previous sensations.

”What’s happening, did Tobin send you a message?” Perkins quickly inquired seeing the change.

”This feeling is intense, as if something disturbed Tobin. It seems, perhaps he’s rebelling!”

”What?” Everyone was shocked, ”Rebelling against what, is there danger?”

”No, not that feeling. It feels like, like being pursued by something, hard to say, strange…”
