One-Eyed Monster

Igor complained while running, why couldn’t Nonoa just take care of the fire as well?

Yet Nonoa said nothing, sitting cross-legged on the ground. After cutting off the flame, the flying stones no longer attacked him, and no new flames emerged. Now Nonoa seemed far too comfortable!

This made Igor extremely dissatisfied; he’s new here, can’t Nonoa lend him a hand?

No, he needs to find a way to make him help.

Igor had now completely adjusted to this running rhythm. Although a bit tired, as long as the flames didn’t touch him, it was fine.

Now he had the leisure to think of countermeasures, unlike at the beginning when he didn’t know what to do, just running aimlessly about. Although still somewhat aimless now, he’s clearly controlling the pace!

Anyway, now Igor could ensure he wasn’t burned by the flames, but he couldn’t stop them from chasing him, which was awkward.

Igor kept running, the flames kept chasing, and occasionally stones flew by, and flames sprouted...

These scenarios made Igor uncomfortable, especially as he saw Nonoa getting further away, making him feel especially imbalanced.

Why could this guy sit calmly while he had to run for his life... It’s so unfair. It’s not like I cut your fire, why are you chasing me endlessly!

The saying goes, ”pick the soft persimmon,” and at this moment, Igor deeply felt it. Now, this soft persimmon needed to run even faster.

Igor thought he should find a big rock to hide...then the idea naturally popped into his mind.

That’s it!

Igor felt a bit excited inside; this plan was truly perfect, maybe even a one-time solution.

So Igor started turning, running and turning; he began a return run, aiming to go back!

By doing this, the flame would follow him back, and he could lead it right to Nonoa for him to cut it off directly.

This plan was truly perfect, and Igor began admiring himself, absolutely brilliant.

Igor ran while shouting, wanting to share his joy.

There was no one else here, only Nonoa.

Igor kept running and shouting, afraid Nonoa wouldn’t notice him.

Nonoa was currently in a state of reflection, wondering where this reckless guy came from, causing him to waste...[expletive], where did this damned guy come from! No longer reflective, Nonoa got up and started running.

A mournful voice from behind made one’s hair stand on end.

”Watch out! The fire’s coming!”

Nonoa had been calm only for a short time before he resumed running, complaining as he ran, ”You’re doing this on purpose!”

”How could I be? I’m being chased, how could I do it on purpose!” Igor seemed to slow down a bit, letting the flames get closer, almost like provoking them.

”You’re doing it on purpose!” Nonoa was truly aggrieved, having clearly gotten rid of the flames, but now this reckless guy brought them back. He clearly ran in a different direction, yet this reckless guy was following him. If that’s not on purpose, what is?

”Watch out!” Igor seemed genuinely concerned about Nonoa, constantly reminding him. Actually, he just wanted Nonoa to cut off the flame behind him. Why didn’t Nonoa get it?

Ah, such well-meaning intentions!

”Don’t follow me, please!”

”I don’t want to either!”

”Then why are you following?”

”It’s chasing me, and I can’t cut it off!” Igor had made it quite clear.

Only then did Nonoa understand what this reckless guy wanted: for him to cut off the flame!

”Then don’t follow me either!”

”Draw your sword!”

”I won’t!”

”Where’s your sword?” At this moment, Igor realized that Nonoa didn’t have a sword on him. How did he make that cut just now? So strange.

”None of your business!”

The two resumed their initial chase, Nonoa running in front, with Igor following and nagging, though now they were also verbally sparring.

”What a damned guy you are!”

”How am I damned? I’ve just arrived, unfamiliar with the place. Is it so hard to ask you for help?” Igor found that saying such long things didn’t tire him out, and he could still skillfully dodge the flying stones and the flames shooting up.

”Look at the mess you’ve caused!”

”You can cut it, why not do it?” Igor was clearly dissatisfied with Nonoa hiding his ability. He could solve the problem with one slash, yet he’s hesitating and stalling, what is he doing?

”You know nothing!”

”If you know so much, why don’t you tell me?”

”Can’t be bothered with your nonsense.”

”Then cut the one behind me first and then deal with me!” Igor was almost pleading, he was exhausted.

If this endless running continued, he’d surely collapse from exhaustion.

”Do you think this energy is yours, to use at will, to summon and slash at your whim?”

”What do you mean?” Igor was puzzled by Nonoa’s words; he didn’t quite understand.

”Forget it, can’t be bothered to argue with you, just my bad luck!” Nonoa sighed, then jumped aside, bending his legs to make a sword-drawing gesture...

Igor didn’t see a sword on Nonoa, yet Nonoa made such a gesture...

”Wow!” Igor was full of anticipation, but he could only look forward, not backward, so he couldn’t see the moment the flame was slashed.

Slash—

Another sharp sound, Igor hastily stopped and turned around.

Sparks still danced, the atmosphere still stirring.

Except Nonoa...

In a moment, Nonoa’s hair had turned completely white!

”This...” Igor was shocked by this sudden change.

”What are you looking at, damned guy!” Nonoa said irritably, still holding no sword.

”How did you end up like this, your hair’s so white!”

”You’ve asked a thousand whys, I haven’t even asked you yet, who are you, why are you here?”

”Huh?” Igor suddenly realized the other didn’t even know his name.

”Huh what, you reckless fool, causing all this fire!” Nonoa’s anger hadn’t subsided, and he spoke with increasing ire.

”Oh, oh, I’m Igor, I’m here to find someone.”

”Igor? Never heard of you, why are you here, finding someone?” Nonoa frowned, puzzled about what this reckless guy was doing here, looking for someone—who could he possibly find here?
