One-Eyed Monster

As Igor thought more, he felt as if everything was becoming connected.

Spirits, ancient hunters, soul-binding bottles...

These seemingly unrelated things seemed to have a significant connection.

Having learned the details of Spirit Power perception, Igor naturally also learned a simple form of judgment and reasoning. Now, a clear picture gradually formed in his mind.

”Hey, Stan Sol, can you ancient hunters really capture what you call the undead?”

”This is a bit of an inappropriate time to ask questions!” Stan Sol was struggling to control his Spirit Power. He was already overwhelmed, but if he didn’t answer Igor’s question, this kid would keep pestering him, so he resigned himself and answered, ”What you call the undead, we refer to as souls. We ancient hunters believe that when people go to the Eternal Tranquility Realm, something remains in this world, and that’s the soul. We have secret techniques to capture these souls, and these techniques have been passed down for thousands of years...”

”Okay, I think I might have a way to help you now.” After getting Stan Sol’s answer, Igor became even more confident in his hypothesis.

To be honest, the trip to Guru Mountain had played a significant role in Igor’s transformation. Not to mention, at this moment, he thought of Kadi again. He wondered how that guy was doing with his training on Guru Mountain now. Kadi had a major trait—he didn’t care or ask, and he’d just act.

In Kadi’s eyes, other external factors were pure nonsense; just do it!

Igor now believed this was indeed an Absolute Truth; he would do the same!

They were just some spirits. He had dealt with the Little Black Hand before and had formally interacted with spirits. There was even one spirit that frequently disguised itself as an old lady to tell him stories... so what’s so special about them?

Clear that channel, and they would naturally return to sleep!

Without a word, Igor plunged into his Inner World. He wanted to communicate with that spirit once more.

Now he would call out that old lady again.

At this moment, Igor ventured alone into the depths of his Inner World. He wanted to know what exactly these spirits were up to.

The old lady, half-asleep, was quite surprised at why Igor was summoning her at this time.

”Young man, what do you want to do?”

”I want to know what changes are happening in your world now?”

”Changes, the biggest change is that there are emotions now; it’s no longer as simple a world as before.”

”Do you mean that some among you, er, no, some spirits have developed fear?”

”Joy, anger, sorrow, love, hate, desire, happiness, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear, shock—whatever you call it, we have it all now.”

”So your world is now full of crises, destined for a big change, right?” Igor asked, delighting in his inquiry.

”Why ask suddenly, do you also want to become such a complicated person? If so, I would need to find another peaceful place,” the old lady said.

At this moment, Igor finally understood that the old lady in his body was here because of such reasons and not because he was someone special!

”I just wanted to verify my guess. Now I know why you are so worried. Because you are becoming like us, becoming complicated people.” Igor chuckled.

”No, I don’t want that...”

”You’re being insincere. If you really didn’t want complexity, why do you always pretend to be an old lady in front of me? Because I naturally respect the elderly, right?”

The old lady was startled. When did this kid become so clever? Why hadn’t he noticed before!

Igor had been dealing with spirits for quite a time, even though he had only just come into contact with this spirit in this world.

It might seem convoluted, but that’s how it is.

The Spirit World is undergoing a transformation. Those relatively long-living spirits have already developed emotions, and these emotions have suddenly given them desires. No matter their goals, at least these folks who used to wake and sleep again are no longer simple.

Some spirits learned to hide, some learned to play, and some even learned ambition...

Therefore, the transformation of another world was inevitable.

”Why are you here? If I can meet your demands, can you stop mentioning this complexity matter all the time? Thinking about it makes me hurt all over,” the old lady changed her tone. For some reason, she suddenly surrendered to Igor, and by reasoning, she shouldn’t be this weak, shouldn’t she be able to crush Igor!

”Haha, finally showing your true colors. My body is still important, isn’t it? It’s quite comfortable staying here, right? Is it like your world?”

”Of course not. It’s just that our world has changed now. Sleeping is not as comfortable as before, constantly anxious. I don’t want to go back!”

So that was it; Igor understood yet another thing.

”But I don’t like you staying in my body. You should go back; isn’t it the same going back to sleep? What are you worried about? You won’t age, get sick, or die.” Igor added.

”That world has spawned hatred, endless battles. I don’t like it; always waking up to be made to fight, and here, I just need to talk, even if there is fighting, you will do it, not me.” The old lady unintentionally blurted everything out.

So hatred has emerged, that’s how it is.

”So you’ve targeted our world then?” Igor asked, having gained a general understanding of the whole situation.

”Not entirely, I don’t fully understand it either. I just want to return to how it was before, and here I can have that, so I don’t care what exactly the world will become.”

”So all the things you’ve said to the Little Black Hand were fake?”

”What fake or true, what I said is the truth, just that you don’t understand some things, so it doesn’t make sense explaining it to you.”

”So are you an old lady or an old man!”

”I! Alright, I was wrong. I’m neither an old lady nor an old man. We don’t have the concept of age, and we’re different from you. When we come here, we can transform at will, but what form we take is mostly the image formed in your mind. So me being an old lady can’t be entirely blamed on me, you contributed seventy percent to that portrayal...”

”Alright, I get it.” Igor didn’t want to pursue the matter further.
