One-Eyed Monster

Igor and Kadi still couldn’t understand what these monsters were saying. They were about to ask, but Kevin and the others cut them off directly.

”Don’t you want to know what the power of love is? Then just watch quietly.”

”Yes, this can serve to verify whether your assertions are correct, to see whether they truly harbor love for each other.”

”Oh, I nearly forgot. Some of the following scenes might not be suitable for children!”

”Relax, they’re not children anymore. They’re teenagers now, so stop treating them like kids. It just makes us seem old-fashioned and grumpy.”

...

Igor and Kadi’s heads swayed from side to side like pellet drums with the rising and falling voices. As soon as one monster finished speaking, another started, a seamless transition that offered no chance to breathe.

Igor wanted to ask how they would verify this, but he couldn’t find the words. These seniors were acting crazily, seemingly eager about what was to come.

So Igor could only endure this silently. He had to wait, to slowly accept this reality. Reality is cruel, and he had to accept it. Quiet observation was his only option right now.

”Wait, Igor.” A voice gradually echoed in Igor’s ears, calming him and instantly brushing away his confusion and doubt.

”Watch carefully. Although love seems far from you right now, you need to understand what the ultimate measure of this test is.”

The now-calm Igor suddenly felt confused again. He didn’t understand where this voice was coming from.

The old lady from the Scale of Faith couldn’t have made such a sound; he firmly believed that.

Then where did this voice come from?

”I understand your doubts. Your questions will be answered later; now is not the time. Your urgent task now is to observe. The focus of your observation should not be what Xiso and Bigas are going to do, but what might compel them to do it.”

Igor wanted to ask questions, but he couldn’t open his mouth, as though he were under some restriction.

”I know your doubts.”

The voice echoed in his ears again. It seemed the owner of the voice could somehow predict his intentions.

”Before your questions are answered, you need to calm down and observe carefully. If you miss certain things, you will remain constantly confused. Once you understand, everything will fall into place naturally.”

Eventually, Igor gave up on his doubts, just as he had when the old lady of the Scale of Faith told him stories. He felt just as baffled then, but ultimately, he had accepted it. Igor wasn’t easily surprised by such abrupt events. He felt that as long as they didn’t harm anyone, they were of little concern. To him, it was just like gaining another conversation partner...

However, now wasn’t the time for him to investigate this. He needed to observe and analyze, especially the things the voice had told him.

Of course, these were the questions Igor cared about anyway. He wanted to know what method could be used to verify whether Xiso and Kadi were in love. After thinking about it for a long time, he still couldn’t come up with a method and wondered if the seniors had any good ideas.

Igor pondered the words of the seniors: they had said that just a gentle push was all that was needed.

This gentle push might just be the crux of it all.

Unknowingly, Igor had found the key point.

”A gentle push”... What on earth could that mean? Igor’s mind raced, trying to decipher it.

The monsters had begun to act. If they said they wanted to help Xiso, they were truly going to help Xiso; they weren’t just saying it in jest.

To help Xiso without him noticing might sound simple, but it was actually very difficult. Xiso and Bigas were no fools; they would be alerted if anyone got too close. Moreover, the monsters couldn’t use their Spirit Power, as both Xiso and Bigas were highly sensitive to it. They could feel if someone used Spirit Power near them.

So, if they wanted to help Igor unknowingly, they had to create a coincidence.

Creating a coincidence was a difficult task, as such things usually couldn’t be manufactured. They had to make their actions look like a genuine coincidence, which was very hard. The difficulty lay in achieving naturalness. Deliberate actions and true coincidences always differ in their degree of naturalness. A deliberate act carries intent, so one’s expression wouldn’t be natural. However, when a true coincidence occurs, one’s expression would naturally show surprise.

The monsters were contemplating just how to create such a natural coincidence. They proposed several plans, but all of them were rejected. Because this was the site of the Twin Peaks’ collapse, the area was wide and open; anything they did could be easily seen.

Another crucial reason was that they were all righteous people. They had rarely done anything sneaky or clandestine before, so manufacturing a coincidence was particularly challenging for them. They had already rejected several plans, and by the looks of it, they would continue to reject more. It seemed their discussion would go on for a very, very long time.

It’s only when you actually try to do something that you realize how difficult it is. Only when the critical moment arrived did they realize the magnitude of the boasts they had made...

This was true for Kevin and Kuren as well. Both furrowed their brows, finally understanding the frustration Igor had experienced earlier.

”You’re taking too long! I’m dying of impatience!”

Suddenly, an incongruous voice sounded. Igor didn’t have to look back to know that the voice belonged to Kadi.

Kadi, with his characteristic impatience, always spoke up at critical moments, though it often felt like he interjected at the most inopportune times. But the strange thing was, whenever Kadi intervened, events often shifted in the direction they hoped for. It was truly a peculiar phenomenon.

Just like now, Kadi did something that shocked everyone.

He ran straight towards Xiso…

What is he doing?

Is he assaulting Xiso?

Bigas, noticing the one-eyed monster, began to form Ice Blades in his hands. It seemed Bigas regarded Kadi as a threat to Xiso.

Xiso turned to see Kadi, also stunned. He never thought Kadi would charge him directly.

Everything happened so suddenly that Xiso didn’t have time to react or stop Kadi, who was pouncing on him!

After all, Kadi was quite fast!

Xiso wanted to warn Kadi to be careful, but it was too late; Bigas’s Ice Blades were already in front of Xiso…
