One-Eyed Monster

Igor frowned. He racked his brain but was still unable to figure out how to resolve the conflict between Xiso and Bigas.

To put it plainly, Igor had yet to pinpoint the root of their discord.

”Stop pestering me, Bigas Kangen. I’ve already told you, I can’t match your standards.”

”So you want to keep running away? Fine! I don’t care anymore. But we haven’t settled the score for how you’ve offended me!”

”Why won’t you just let it go!”

”Then why do you keep running away?”

Xiso and Bigas always ended up circling back to that argument.

The bystanders had heard these words so many times they were sick of them. They felt powerless to change the situation.

”Why can’t they just sit down and have a proper conversation?”

”Yeah, look at how much time they’ve wasted. It’s rather frightening!”

”We have to put up with them. Seriously, I just want to yell at Xiso.”

After repeatedly hearing the same conversations and witnessing the same scenes, the monsters were starting to lose patience. They hoped Xiso and Bigas would end this farce soon.

Originally, they had been invested in Xiso’s every move, but now they just saw it as a farce. This was typical of idle spectators, who judged based on their mood without truly thinking things through.

A contemplative onlooker like Igor was rare.

Igor racked his brain but still came up with nothing. He began to reproach himself. Why can’t I ever figure out the crucial points? Why do I keep going in circles?

It would be strange if he could figure it out. Even Xiso and Bigas, who were directly involved, couldn’t fully comprehend it. How could an outsider like him understand? That was like a fool talking in his sleep.

Still, his effort marked him as a kind person, though his good intentions were clearly misplaced.

One had to wonder, why should he meddle in Xiso’s personal affairs? His involvement would likely only make things worse.

But when people became fixated, they could be foolish and stubborn. Igor was now determined to help Xiso, to end his suffering...

Then again, he thought of Bigas. He realized that Bigas, too, had suffered greatly from her experiences over the years...

So, he felt he should also help Bigas free herself from her suffering.

Thus, his plan seemed to contain an irreconcilable contradiction. It wasn’t immediately obvious, but the conflict was there if one thought about it. This made Igor hesitate, unsure of what to do, as his chosen path now seemed uncertain.

Helping Xiso seemed like the right thing to do. If I choose to help Xiso, it means I need to support his current desire to escape Bigas’s entanglement. But if I do that, Bigas will inevitably be heartbroken and suffer even more. Bigas hasn’t done anything wrong, though. Why should she have to endure such pain?

How exactly am I supposed to help...

Igor felt as if his head was about to explode.

He found it hard to devise a solution that would benefit everyone.

At this point, he was completely clueless about the root of the problem.

Igor scratched his head, really not sure what to do next.

He was feeling powerless at the moment...

It was indeed a challenging task. Igor only wanted to help mend the relationship between Xiso and Bigas, but the situation had become incredibly frustrating for him. No matter what he came up with, he seemed unable to alleviate the current situation. Any solution he conceived would inevitably cause one of them to suffer.

”What should I do to help them?” Igor murmured to himself, deeply troubled.

”Hehe, we really can’t intervene in their affairs,” the Great Mentor said, comforting Igor. ”I’ve also racked my brain for a long time, and in the end, all methods seem futile.”

”This matter can only be resolved by them. These two are quite amusing, arguing all the time without knowing why. A reunion should be a happy event,” Kevin commented. At that moment, he felt that relationships could be very complicated. What should have been a joyous occasion had turned into a bickering farce.

There was nothing to be done. The spectators were growing tired of the endless arguments between Xiso and Bigas. The reason was simple: nothing new was emerging from their exchanges, so the onlookers had lost interest.

Who would want to watch the same drama again and again, especially a quarrelsome farce...

Kadi looked left and right. Initially, he had hoped to see Xiso make a fool of himself. But as he watched, he found the scene wasn’t amusing but rather heavy. Kadi, who had never experienced love, viewed the situation purely from the perspective of give and take. Suddenly, he realized that neither of them was adhering to the Law of Equivalent Exchange!

”Why aren’t these two following the Law of Equivalent Exchange?” Kadi voiced his thoughts aloud. That was his usual way; he never changed his tune regardless of others’ strange looks.

To be honest, this viewpoint intrigued the monsters. It was a novel perspective, something they had never heard before. Usually, Igor was the one to offer such unconventional insights, but this time, Kadi had taken the lead. The monsters of Guru Mountain found his point of view quite refreshing.

”What do you mean by that?” Kuren asked, not quite understanding Kadi’s words.

”Look at them. After all their talk, it’s clear that witch has given so much and gained nothing. As for Xiso, it seems he’s done nothing but avoid the Great Witch.”

”What does this have to do with Equivalent Exchange?” Kevin asked.

”Shouldn’t you get something in return for what you give? Regardless of the amount, there should always be some gain!” Kadi replied.

Everyone laughed. It was indeed a unique perspective.

There was no such thing as fairness in love, so the Law of Equivalent Exchange didn’t really apply.

Those in love always wield unequal power. This force, appearing from nowhere, mysteriously propels people forward. When you are truly in love, you often don’t consider what you might get in return.

Therefore, nobody could answer Kadi’s question directly.

”Well, it’s not that there’s no return at all. They’ve gained love, and that’s a very powerful force,” Igor said gently to Kadi, having come back to his senses.

”Love?” Kadi scratched his head, trying to understand the meaning of this term.
