Our Family Has Fallen

”It’s useless, you don’t understand this land. Those methods won’t work here.” After hearing this, Lance wasn’t worried at all; instead, he grinned. ”Didn’t you see that even the Romani elder had to come personally to apologize, leaving Tamara and Amanda behind.”

Did they really think he hadn’t studied this?

Hamlet had been corrupted by the ancestors for many years; in familiar terms, it means this land is shrouded by the ancestors’ grand formations, hiding its secrets from the sky.

The mist over the mountains is visible, but the ’mist’ over Hamlet is invisible. If anyone attempts to use supernatural powers to spy on Hamlet, they would probably have to fight the ancestors first before finding him.

Even someone of Amanda and Alhazred’s level would be disturbed in Hamlet.

It’s hard to imagine anyone in the world with prophecy and divination skills stronger than theirs, right?

Grendel looked at Lance’s carefree demeanor and couldn’t help but laugh in frustration, ”Let’s get back to business, they’re just offering two people~”

The two continued strolling, refocusing their attention on the matter at hand.

”The Earl has many ideas; he’s trying to lure the Barbarians out of the mountains while letting them in to raid Hamlet...”

...

On the other side, undoubtedly, Boslake was also among those small tribes raided by the Warwolf-led Fang Tribe. It’s just that, at the time, he was a mercenary in the Empire, and upon returning, found everything destroyed.

However, due to the incident with the Deerhead Tribe, everyone was on high alert, making it difficult for the Fang Tribe’s ambush to completely annihilate them, resulting in a large number of refugees escaping.

Many mercenaries, like Boslake, received the news and rushed back from the Empire.

Boslake had seen the world in the Empire; he was the tribe’s leader and knew that with winter approaching, without sanctuary, his tribe’s refugees would perish without the Fang Tribe having to lift a finger.

It’s not just a matter of resources; once winter arrives, there’s a food shortage that affects humans and animals alike. In the mountains, the starving beasts would attack gathering places.

If the beast tide was large, even major tribes would be in danger, hence autumn hunts serve as a method to weaken the mountain beasts.

Bastia drove them away, and their tribal gathering places were destroyed. He negotiated with the mercenaries and the major tribes, seeking sanctuary, of course, in exchange for doing tasks for them.

Several major tribes wanted to test the Earl’s intentions, but they were reluctant to deploy their own forces, endless bickering ensued.

Naturally, people like Boslake caught their attention, gathered to be the vanguard penetrating Bastia.

This meant that these mercenaries were essentially working for the major tribes; no wonder they coveted the resources of Gene’s caravan.

With those resources, they wouldn’t have to demean themselves to beg the major tribes.

The major tribes naturally wouldn’t let these mercenaries go unfollowed, so a number of major tribes’ members were mixed in the team, constantly obstructing his command, leading to a series of tragedies, but now they were all dead.

However, if they couldn’t bring back enough chips, the major tribes wouldn’t offer them sanctuary. That’s why Boslake said before that they had to keep fighting, with only a dozen people left still chasing Michelle.

The Barbarians have their own means of communication; Boslake quickly found the other fleeing Barbarian warriors after escaping.

”Big Brother, you actually made it back!”

”Damn! You guys ran so fast.”

Without speaking, Boslake felt his blood pressure rising at the mention.

He was the first to find the hawks, but when he turned around, everyone else was gone.

They ran like the wind!

He wanted to shoot an arrow at them, but business came first, so he put on a serious face.

”Something big is happening! Why are there Eagles here?”

As soon as he said this, the others all naturally fell into a state of unease.

Yeah, why are there Eagles?

Boslake glanced around at the few of them, realizing several were from major tribes, but the seasoned ones died in the village, leaving only a few youngsters.

He organized his thoughts and began speaking.

”We’ve been deceived. This is all a conspiracy by the Fang Tribe and Count Bastia.”

This statement directly stunned the crowd, and Boslake followed it up with the rehearsed narrative.

It was simply that the troops they just encountered belonged to the Bastia Secret Forces. The caravan was massacred because they stumbled upon them by accident. The various circumstances before were entirely orchestrated by the Earl to lure them out of the mountains for a complete annihilation.

”What does this have to do with the Fang Tribe?”

”You’re really stupid. Don’t forget that if this is a conspiracy, then the Fang Tribe is in big trouble. All their previous actions coordinated with the Earl.

They say the Warwolf led people down the mountain, but Warwolf was probably killed while chasing the Deer Head Priest a long time ago. Have you seen Warwolf show his face since then?”

Hearing this, everyone started piecing things together. Indeed, Warwolf had been silent for a long time, which didn’t match his arrogant nature.

”Warwolf is already dead, otherwise the Fang Tribe wouldn’t cooperate with the Earl.” Boslake confidently stated this matter.

Why was Grendel so sure that the others would agree with this statement?

Because Warwolf was simply too arrogant before. During the turmoil in the mountains, he was all about showing off his prowess.

Such a person wouldn’t submit to anyone. If he were alive, he wouldn’t condescend to do such things.
