Our Family Has Fallen

The archer was restrained, his shocked expression unhidden, as if he had forgotten the situation he was currently in.

Boudica wouldn’t wait for anyone; she charged forward with her axe spear.

But before she could run a few steps, a voice called out to stop her.

”Boudica, stop!”

Although slightly displeased, Boudica halted her steps.

The archer, hearing these words, couldn’t help but show a shocked expression as his gaze fell on the person walking out slowly behind Boudica.

Even though his body lacked the chaotic accessories of the Barbarian Tribes, the unique design of the Deer Head Staff was enough to reveal his identity.

”Priest Grendel!” The archer couldn’t help but exclaim upon seeing the newcomer, immediately filled with questions, ”But weren’t you...”

”Boslake, is it so strange that I’m alive?” Grendel waved her hand to remove the tree roots holding the archer.

It was clear from the way she casually called the archer’s name that they knew each other, explaining why he was the one caught among so many others.

”No, it’s just...” The archer looked conflicted; he had missed many things while working as a mercenary outside and was only recently driven back to hear about it.

A major event had happened before in the mountains: the Deerhead Tribe was massacred by the Fang Tribe, with only the next Priest, Grendel, escaping.

But soon, Grendel vanished into the mountains, and no one knew where she went, leaving behind only a title of missing.

Everyone assumed the Warwolf had killed her or captured her, as escaping from the Fang Tribe’s pursuit was exceedingly difficult, especially with the Warwolf’s formidable strength.

No one expected her to appear here!

Moreover, she looked different, and the fact that she spoke in a common language was very strange.

”The story is long; we’ll leave here first before talking about it.”

Grendel naturally knew what he meant, but she let it go for now.

Because of Grendel’s appearance, Boslake relaxed his bowstring, but soon after, another figure in a black robe appeared, with the hawk hovering beside.

Laura’s appearance made everyone instinctively ready their bows again.

”Don’t be nervous, the ability to train birds isn’t exclusive to the Eagle Flock,” Grendel said, signaling them to leave the wilderness, ”This isn’t Bastia; there are no enemies for you here, so put down your weapons and follow me.”

Grendel, or rather the reputation accumulated by the Deerhead Tribe over millennia, had an effect; even though Boslake didn’t trust others, he quite believed her words.

The group exited the forest and happened to come upon Lance, who had come alone.

Now Boslake, like a startled bird, was very wary of newcomers.

He knew that the time was ripe for the Mountain Barbarian Tribe and the Empire to go to war, and he had fallen into the lands of the Empire, where a battle had recently occurred.

A man with an obviously imperial face...

”Is he the one you’re looking for?” Lance scrutinized the archer, who looked about thirty, with snake tattoos on his bare arms, and an especially conspicuous large bow on his back, as if it were alive.

In Lance’s eyes, it was immediately apparent that the Serpent Bow was an Extraordinary Equipment of no small quality.

Anyone capable of drawing it must not be simple.

Just then, Grendel stepped forward to introduce,

”This is the Lord of Hamlet; he is the Boslake I mentioned.”

Hearing this, Boslake immediately understood and couldn’t help but glare at Grendel, roaring,

”No! You have pledged allegiance to the Empire!”

As he spoke, he prepared to draw his bow.

”Enough.” Grendel stepped forward to block Lance and shook her head slightly, ”Put down your weapon; there are no enemies here.”

If it weren’t for her presence, just that action would have cost you your life.

Despite this, Boslake showed a peculiar expression but was still reluctant to give in easily, ”Let me go.”

”I said put down the weapon!” But Grendel, who was by no means an ordinary person, had no intention of explaining, responding with a more forceful tone.

With that, she lifted the Antler Staff and struck the ground, causing the surrounding plants to come to life.

”Boss, let’s give him a beating first!” Boudica was eager to instigate,

She remembered how badly she was beaten by the boss before, bedridden for days.

This guy is so arrogant; he needs to be dealt with severely!

The atmosphere was so tense that Laura too became nervous and instinctively aimed her bow.

This only increased Boslake’s tension.

”All right, all right~ We’re all acquaintances here, no need to escalate things,” Lance gently patted Grendel’s arm and stepped forward from behind her.

Grendel could have explained, but she didn’t, opting instead for a strong attitude uncharacteristic of her typically gentle nature.

Lance understood she was playing the villain so he could play the good guy and calm the situation.

Grendel was also avoiding suspicion, lest their shared Barbarian Tribe background make Lance wary.

She had considered many things, mostly for Lance’s sake, without a thought for herself.

But what kind of person was Lance? He would never rely on a woman to save face for him, nor would it have brought him this far.
