Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 391: Chapter 277: Really Not Familiar_2

”Lance, save me!”

Lance, who had been observing the battle from a nearby watchtower, strolled over. He had initially thought it would make for a good show. That was why he had deliberately allowed Tamara to take the nun. He had also pulled back his men to give them space to fight, purely out of curiosity about who was hunting her and what techniques her pursuers possessed.

But he hadn’t expected these two to be so weak, knocked down in no time at all.

Lance couldn’t let them die, so he had no choice but to step in.

However, Lance didn’t respond to Tamara’s cry for help. Instead, he picked up the Flying Daggers from the ground. They must have previously been imbued with some Supernatural Power, though now they seem like ordinary weapons.

Are they consumable?

If this technology could be applied to bullets, would it...

”As long as you kill her, I promise you anything you want.” Tamara was fighting for her life, wounded inside and out. If she delayed any longer, she wouldn’t need an enemy to finish her; she’d bleed to death.

Tamara’s words pulled Lance’s attention back, and for the first time, he focused on this woman called Amanda.

His gaze uncontrollably landed on her exaggerated...

He had thought Grendel was invincible. Whose commander was this?

Amanda, of course, noticed Lance’s gaze but didn’t mind it. She even thrust her chest out slightly, speaking with a flirtatious tone.

”Little brother, this is not where you should be.”

”No, it is you who shouldn’t be here,” Lance replied, looking her directly in the eyes. ”This is my territory.”

Hearing this, Amanda also realized something, arching her brow slightly, seemingly surprised that Lance would say such a thing.

”Are you sure you want to meddle in our affairs?”

Amanda looked him over but frowned, feeling instinctively that this man was not to be trifled with.

It was no joke. Transcendents like them, who specialized in Necromancy and prophecy, possessed incredibly keen sixth senses. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have stopped so suddenly earlier.

Because she sensed that if she made a move, it would be very troublesome.

But with the situation as it was...

”This is a Romani matter. If you choose to shelter her, you’ll be offending more than just me. I advise you not to be deceived by her,” Amanda warned.

”Her?” Lance glanced at Tamara, then slowly shook his head. ”Not familiar.”

Not only Amanda, but even Tamara seemed somewhat stunned upon hearing his words.

To be honest, Lance had guessed that those pursuing Tamara were no simple folk. He initially thought she might have stolen some treasure from a powerful faction, which was why they were after her.

But he hadn’t expected it to be her own people. Without fully understanding the situation, Lance couldn’t possibly admit to any relationship between them.

”I’m not interested in your affairs. What you do outside has nothing to do with me, but this is Hamlet. Fighting is forbidden here, and so is injuring people,” Lance said calmly, looking at Amanda.

Lance didn’t seek trouble, but he wasn’t afraid of it either. No matter who you were, once you were in his territory, you had to follow his rules.

”Then I’ll take her away,” Amanda said. She couldn’t quite figure this man out, but she caught the key point in his words.

But Lance couldn’t just let her take Tamara away like that. Then all his efforts would have been in vain.

I can’t directly involve myself in their issues, but I can indirectly intervene under some pretense.

”You’ve committed violent assault, which violates the Hamlet public safety ordinance. By law, you’re subject to three days of imprisonment and a fine. And they are suspected of brawling as well, so they all need to come with me. Are you going to come with me voluntarily to accept your punishment, or shall I take you?”

As Lance spoke, Amanda felt a certain pressure. Looking at the man before her, unarmed, she nevertheless sensed a dangerous vibe.

However, she dared to attack even members of the Church, so she truly wasn’t afraid of this guy who had suddenly appeared.

”Attacking an enforcer is an aggravating offense. You should consider...” Lance sensed her dangerous gaze and couldn’t help but warn her.

As expected, they were all cut from the same cloth—outrageously bold. Amanda didn’t wait for Lance to finish speaking and made the first move, a Flying Dagger suddenly appearing in her hand as she threw it.

Simultaneously, her body didn’t pause. She reached into the air, and a whip materialized. With a single, powerful swing of her arm, she sent it arcing outwards. The accumulated power channeled into the whip, making it lash out as swiftly and venomously as a striking viper.

Her attack was meant to kill, showcasing her ruthless nature.

If an ordinary person were caught off guard, they might indeed fall victim, but she was facing Lance.

Lance didn’t even draw his greatsword. He sidestepped the Flying Dagger and, reaching out, snatched the whip lashing towards him out of thin air.

Amanda was an expert with the whip. Precisely because of this, she knew that when a whip was cracked, all its force concentrated at the tip. This created frightening speed and a booming sound as it cut through the air.

And now, her whip had been caught barehanded...

Before she could react further, a powerful, irresistible force traveled through the whip, attempting to pull her towards him. She, after all, was used to pulling others in.

However, she wasn’t defenseless. Pretending to be pulled off balance, she went with the motion to get closer. In an instant, a hatchet appeared in her left hand, and she chopped at Lance.

But Lance had watched her fighting style clearly and had anticipated this move. The instant the hatchet appeared, his other hand shot out, clamping onto her wrist and controlling it.

She, Amanda, wasn’t a strength-based warrior. How could she possibly contend with Lance?

The moment she felt his strength, her expression changed drastically, but the fight didn’t pause for a second. She even aimed a kick at his groin.

Twisting his body and knee, Lance blocked the vicious attack with his leg. However, her action finally angered him. With a slight increase in force, he pulled, upsetting her balance. He let go of the whip and instead seized her throat.

He had a firm grip on her throat. However, seeing her close her eyes at that moment, Lance suddenly sensed danger and immediately released her. He even proactively let go of her other wrist and jumped back to widen the distance between them.

Indeed, the next second, a golden ornament on her chest burst forth with a blinding light.

Lance reacted swiftly. But, not anticipating this specific attack, he was still affected. His vision was impacted by the light, but he instantly refreshed his status and recovered within a second.

His suddenly wide-open eyes startled Amanda, who had hoped to press her advantage, causing her to recoil.

But she had no intention of stopping. Instead, she threw a spherical object.

Lance had seen this thing before. He didn’t retreat but advanced, kicking the object right back at her.

Amanda hadn’t expected Lance to react so quickly and hadn’t managed to detonate it.

Yet Lance was no pushover. The speed unleashed by his body was terrifying. While Amanda hesitated, he had already closed in again, not giving her a chance to use her ranged tactics. He thrust out a punch like a dragon crossing the river, undeterred by any stormy waves.

I can’t dodge!

Panic surfaced on Amanda’s delicate face. She raised her axe to chop, but before she could react, she was struck in the abdomen.

”Ah!”

For an instant, she felt nothing but paralyzing numbness. But within a second or two, Amanda felt as if her internal organs were churning—as if they had been pulled out, tied in knots, then haphazardly shoved back in. Every breath felt like it was tearing at her viscera.

The intense pain that surged through her overwhelmed her brain, and the axe fell from her hand to the ground.

This was the difference between wearing armor and not. You could dodge countless times, but if you were hit even once, it would be unbearable.

And Lance still hadn’t used his full strength. Otherwise, a single punch might have ruptured her internal organs.

He gave her no chance to resist, directly grabbing her neck. She still wanted to struggle, kicking out her leg.

But clearly, Lance wouldn’t give her this opportunity. With little effort, he lifted her. Having lost her leverage, her kick was weak and easily caught by Lance’s hand.

She wore a short skirt, so when he grabbed her leg, it rode up. Although she had shorts on underneath, preventing any actual exposure, her firm, muscular thigh was now displayed right in front of Lance...
