Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 355: Chapter 252: Convergence of Three Parties_2

After a brief pack-up, she kicked out the campfire and rushed over with her belongings...

The road ahead was engulfed in rolling black fog. Within it, Tamara relied on the Crystal Ball in her hand to control the carriage, resisting the pressure from all around. If it weren’t for her special carriage, it probably wouldn’t withstand it.

She knew the greedy Wizard didn’t want to destroy the carriage, which was why he hadn’t launched a strong attack. However, she couldn’t hold on much longer like this; she had to find a way to escape.

But with traps ahead and the Wizard behind, and having almost used up all her resources, how could she escape now?

If she fell into the hands of this Bald Sorcerer, it would be worse than being captured by those people.

Already in poor condition, her haste made her feel her insides churning, and a sweet metallic taste rose in her mouth.

She knew she had aggravated her injuries without needing to think. But at this moment, she could only bear it, swallowing the blood in her mouth to keep from showing weakness.

JIE JIE JIE!

Weird laughter emanated from within the black fog. The Bald Sorcerer could certainly sense from the struggle against the Supernatural Power that Tamara’s condition was worsening.

To be honest, even he hadn’t expected the trap he’d set for those rats following him to catch another big fish.

He even knew this ’big fish’; after all, both had frequented Rat Street in Totnes. Even if not familiar, he knew something about her.

This Romani merchant was far from simple. Not to mention the mysterious background of the Romani, her own strength alone was not to be underestimated, let alone her special carriage.

If it had been before, he wouldn’t have provoked her, but now he’d discovered she seemed to be seriously injured.

And the entity he had just made a covenant with, although incredibly greedy and urging him to perform sacrifices daily, also granted him power far stronger than the previous one.

The Bald Sorcerer was somewhat of a scumbag. He had relied on his former patron, who had died unexpectedly because of him. After switching to a stronger one, he immediately looked down upon his former benefactor.

His escape so far had been fraught with danger but without real harm. Now, stumbling upon such a gift, he began to suspect that what he encountered in Totnes wasn’t a disaster but a sign of his fortunes turning.

Catherine stood by, watching the scene with an indifferent gaze. As a servant who had followed him for so long, she could feel her ”Master’s” power had recovered—and even grown stronger—since he made the new covenant.

All she could do was bow her head to show submission, but the grip on the Dagger beneath her sleeve tightened. The restlessness in her heart wasn’t so easily suppressed; she was constantly tempted...

”I’ll give you a sum of money, and we can call it even. Otherwise, if I fight desperately, you’ll get nothing.”

”Do you think that’s possible? The items are mine already!” Thinking this, the Bald Sorcerer worked harder to manipulate the censer in his hand, conjuring more black fog to continuously suppress Tamara’s strength.

Once a battle between Transcendents began, it was a fight to the death; no one would willingly leave an enemy alive.

Tamara knew it was highly unlikely she would escape this predicament easily. At this moment, her only choice was to fight desperately.

Although reluctant to give it up, she had no other choice now. Just as she was about to make her move, a beam of light accompanied by a shout tore through the black fog. An Armored Nun charged out from the darkness.

”Evil!”

And that wasn’t all. The Nun opened her Holy Canon, murmuring a prayer. Suddenly, she raised her warhammer and shouted.

”Holy Flame shall burn away all darkness!”

It wasn’t so noticeable during the day, but now the power bursting from her truly resembled the descent of Holy Light, shining brilliantly. It scattered the black fog and even made the lantern on Tamara’s carriage a bit brighter.

A new force joined the fray, alleviating some of the pressure Tamara faced.

”You madmen of the Church!”

The Nun’s sudden appearance threw the situation into uncertainty. The Bald Sorcerer’s smile faded, and he couldn’t help but curse loudly.

However, his movements weren’t slow at all. He reached into a pocket at his waist and crushed something.

A bizarre power spread out, severing the Nun’s connection to divine power.

How could a devout Nun allow an evil Wizard to slander the Church?

She wasn’t one of those Nuns who only knew how to chant scripture. She immediately closed the Holy Canon, grabbed her warhammer, and charged at the Bald Sorcerer.

The Bald Sorcerer didn’t hesitate much and commanded his servant, ”Catherine, protect me.”

Saying this, he raised the Bone Furnace and muttered something, and a puff of blue steam emerged.

Catherine inhaled deeply and instantly felt her body become more agile.

The next second, a green mist rose. Catherine breathed it in greedily, feeling her entire body brimming with vitality.

She had no ability to refuse her master’s order and could only draw her Dagger to confront the Nun.

Tamara had no intention of joining the battle. Her first instinct was to seize the opportunity to flee, immediately trying to turn the carriage around.

However, the Bald Sorcerer wouldn’t just watch his prize escape. His primary target was still Tamara.

Raising the beast-headed Bone Furnace, it was unclear what Secret Technique he used, but the light cast by the carriage lanterns was suddenly compressed.

The Nun naturally noticed this. But before she could react further, the woman named Catherine lunged at her, Dagger swinging.

Had it been another time, she would have felled her with a single blow of her hammer. But with darkness descending, the Nun felt the strange Sorcery suppressing her. Her strength began to wane, and the warhammer in her hand grew inexplicably heavy.

Meanwhile, Catherine, bolstered by a double enchantment, moved nimbly and indeed managed to hold the Nun at bay for the moment.

Tamara fared even worse; she suffered the brunt of the strange powers. The Nun’s appearance had only hastened the Bald Sorcerer’s actions, forcing him to use even more malignant abilities.

There wasn’t any flashy physical collision; battles between Transcendents are mostly clashes of Supernatural Power.

If Tamara had been at her peak, she wouldn’t have feared such a confrontation.

But now, having already suffered the backlash from Lance and the pursuit by a mysterious assailant, her current state made it impossible to withstand an attack of this magnitude. The blood she’d been holding back for so long sprayed forth.

PFFT!

An item on Tamara’s person activated, momentarily stabilizing her injuries and preventing them from worsening. However, her ashen face and the blood at the corner of her mouth made it clear her life was hanging by a thread.

”JIE JIE JIE! Did you really think a fool from the Church could save you?”

The Bald Sorcerer’s ugly, grotesque face was now uncomfortably close.

”Then let’s die together!” Tamara’s anger erupted. Ever since she’d set foot on the path of the Transcendent, she had never considered retreating.

The Crystal Ball in her hand burst with a ghostly blue light. Her apparent readiness to self-destruct momentarily forced the Bald Sorcerer back.

However, when the Bald Sorcerer hastily fled but felt no subsequent agitation of Spiritual Essence, he turned back. Seeing Tamara’s faint, mocking smile, he realized she had tricked him.

Could he tolerate this?

The Bald Sorcerer had been having too easy a time lately. Influenced by the presence from the Void and now being mocked, he flared up in anger. He immediately gripped the triangular pendant again, preparing to perform a Secret Technique.

Yet, another change occurred. The sound of hoofbeats approached. On horseback, a figure with dark-gold vertical pupils seemed to pierce through the darkness.

”Watch out for traps!” Tamara shouted. She had no idea who the newcomer was, but she knew the more chaotic the situation, the higher her chances of survival. She certainly couldn’t let him be jeopardized.

The white-haired man could discern the battle situation. He heeded the warning, pulling the reins to stop, but his gaze turned towards Tamara.

Even though his face wasn’t clearly visible, the moment she saw those golden vertical pupils, Tamara immediately recognized the man. She blurted out instinctively,

”Master Witcher—Geralt!”

This exclamation made the situation distinctly odd, as everyone present knew full well what a Master-level Transcendent represented.

Tamara had shouted this with a bit of cunning, hoping to muddy the waters by presenting a target.

The man didn’t deny it. He calmly dismounted and slowly drew one of the two swords he carried on his back.

His golden eyes locked onto the Bald Sorcerer, his intentions unspoken but clear...
