Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 354: Chapter 252: Convergence of Three Parties_1

On a starry night, a carriage, distinct in design from those commonly seen in the Empire, raced down an ancient and decrepit road, its builder unknown. Its owner was none other than the Romani woman Tamara, whom Lance had first encountered on Totnes Rat Street.

However, her condition was clearly amiss. Her face was pallid and haggard, a clear sign of her extreme weakness. Her elaborate jewelry was missing many pieces, and those remaining had lost their luster.

When she suffered the backlash on Rat Street, she had anticipated her tracks would be revealed. So, without even pausing to deal with the consequences, she fled Totnes in haste.

Despite setting traps along the way, she was still pursued and had recently fought off an attack. Although she escaped, it cost her dearly, and her already mediocre condition was rapidly deteriorating.

Now, the mere thought of that man made her grit her teeth with resentment. However, she could only blame her own greed for getting her into this mess.

She didn’t know how much longer it would be before her pursuer caught up, but she knew she couldn’t last much longer. She needed to find a populated place quickly. The more people, the better to deter her pursuers, and the easier it would be for her to hide and recuperate.

As she urged the horses on, her carriage continued its relentless pace. The horses pulling it seemed supernatural, showing no signs of fatigue despite the long journey and maintaining a steady gait. One could guess these were not ordinary creatures but beings imbued with Supernatural Power.

What kind of enemy could induce such urgency in her?

Just then, the Crystal Ball in Tamara’s hand emitted a faint glow, signaling the detection of danger.

Traps! Enemies!

Tamara reacted instantly, pulling on the reins to slow the horses.

This instinctive action spared her the trap, but it brought the carriage to a halt.

The moment she spotted her adversary, they also noticed her. Their eyes met briefly, surprise evident in both their gazes.

Romani?

Levantine?

But in the next second, they almost simultaneously raised their respective implements.

A Crystal Ball and a censer.

In an instant, two forms of Supernatural Power collided!

A campfire flickered, casting a soft light. A white-haired man and his horse, Radish, rested nearby. Traveling at night was dangerous, especially when one’s opponent was a Wizard with unpredictable methods. Even he was unwilling to take unnecessary risks.

Moreover, the strange aura emanating from the area made him feel uneasy and repulsed. The last time he had sensed such a pervasive evil was an incident he preferred not to recall.

Besides, both he and Radish needed to eat and rest. Not everyone could engage in a dangerous, relentless pursuit without sleep.

This bounty hunt is turning out to be anything but simple...

”May the Holy Flame guide me.”

A voice made Radish perk up its ears, halting its chewing and looking to the side.

An Armored Nun approached, holding a Holy Canon and a spiked mace. The white-haired man, however, showed no surprise.

Many had set out from Totnes to hunt the Wizard, but most had abandoned the chase. Only these two had persevered this far.

To be honest, most Transcendents disliked the Church, but he possessed enough confidence to face these Clerics.

Having encountered each other a few times before, and with their common enemy still at large, they weren’t about to clash upon meeting.

”Hello, Madam,” the man said, his tone surprisingly gentle, a contrast to his stern countenance.

Hearing his voice, the Nun remained steadfast in her piety, her expression stern as she issued a warning.

”The power of the Holy Flame is suppressed here. Something is disturbing my prayers... an evil presence...”

Her words sounded somewhat cryptic, but they explained why she had sought him out.

Simply put, the Wizard had renegotiated his contract and gained Sanctuary from a mysterious entity in the Void. This had allowed him to elude her surveillance, and she had consequently lost his trail.

Thus, her only recourse was to see if the Witcher, who was also on the trail, had any leads.

”Indeed, I’ve felt it too. That ritual significantly restored his strength, making him more dangerous. However, the traces he left behind are still traceable. Without a carriage, they can’t have gone far.”

As he said this, a solemn expression also crossed the white-haired man’s face. Earlier that day, he had discovered vile Curses and traps, all of which, thankfully, he had disarmed thanks to his extensive experience.

This was precisely why he hadn’t dared to continue the pursuit at night. The risks were too great. In any case, the Wizard, lacking a horse, couldn’t escape his tracking.

His long lifespan had taught him to be far less impulsive than in his youth.

Just then, an explosion erupted nearby. The restless Spiritual Essence instantly alerted both of them. The white-haired man’s expression grew grave. After tracking it for so long, he thought, I can’t be mistaken about that power.

That such an expression appeared on the face of this Witcher Master spoke volumes about the situation’s gravity.

”Evil... lies ahead,” the Nun declared, facing the direction of the disturbance. Weariness was etched on her face, yet her devout faith still surged with pure power. ”Evil must be purified!”

With that, she strode directly towards the source.

Seeing this, the white-haired man didn’t hesitate. The target is just ahead, he thought. After chasing for so long, it would be embarrassing to let someone else snatch the prize.
