Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1056: Chapter 788: Chaos

To be honest, since the afternoon, Kael’s mood had completely changed when they were dancing.

Gone was that relaxed feeling, replaced by tension. Even when Fred and George pulled him up on stage, he hastily found an excuse and slipped away again.

The main reason was that the situation had suddenly changed. Previously, he wasn’t worried about what to do if Voldemort came here because they had Dumbledore. Even if he wasn’t present, Kael believed he could arrive in time.

But now it was different. Ever since that moment at Bathilda’s house, when he disappeared in the mottled sunlight, the tension in Kael’s heart had reached an unprecedented new height.

The sun gradually set, night fell...

Fred and George were the first to light the bonfire. The invited band played energetically, and the crackling flames illuminated everyone’s faces, raising the atmosphere to a new height.

Kael sat on an empty space not far away, looking a bit weary. For the first time, he felt that Fred and George’s actions were somewhat inappropriate.

The dance could have ended just like that, with everyone going home, which would be much safer. Why light a bonfire and continue, isn’t this adding risk out of thin air?

He sighed softly.

At this moment, his left shoulder suddenly felt a weight, followed by a warm touch. Kael turned his head and found the Phoenix gently pecking at his ear.

”Fawkes?” Kael was taken aback, ”Why are you still here?”

But he quickly realized that Fawkes had declined to enter Bathilda’s house, which was dirty, messy, and full of strange smells. So Dumbledore left it outside on guard duty.

And the moment he got the Time Turner, he couldn’t wait to turn its dial, not even waiting to move to a safer place.

In other words, when he went back to the past, Fawkes was still outside and hadn’t gone with him.

In an instant, all the negative emotions caused by Dumbledore’s departure vanished from Kael’s heart.

With the Phoenix, who needs Dumbledore!

He reached out and stroked the warm, soft feathers on the Phoenix’s neck, speaking in a calm, gentle voice:

”Dumbledore...he doesn’t want you anymore.”

”Oh!” Fawkes pecked at Kael’s finger, causing him to inhale sharply in pain.

”I’m not lying, it’s true.” Kael said while rubbing his finger. ”If you don’t believe me, you can check if you can find Dumbledore’s location.”

Fawkes continued to peck, but this time Kael was prepared and easily dodged.

However, this was related to Fawkes not being serious; it chirped softly and lay idly on Kael’s shoulder.

”You know...” Kael pouted his lips, surprised that Fawkes had already known about Dumbledore’s arrangements, probably because they had communicated in advance.

But this also meant that the plan he just came up with had instantly failed by half; he had wanted to snatch Fawkes away while Dumbledore was gone.

”I must say, what he did this time was really shady.” Kael continued stroking Fawkes’ feathers. ”Obviously, waiting for you wouldn’t take much time, right?”

This time, Fawkes didn’t peck him, instead jumped from his shoulder to his leg, burying its head under its wing in a sleeping pose.

Kael was not disheartened and kept sitting there, incessantly badmouthing Dumbledore behind his back.

After all, he couldn’t hear them now. He couldn’t possibly rebut; Kael could say whatever he wanted as long as he could trick... um, persuade the Phoenix, and it would be a huge win.

As for what would happen when Dumbledore came back, compared to the Phoenix, these were trivial matters, who cares.

”Kael, why are you here again? Hermione has been looking for you.”

At this moment, Cedric, along with Hermione, Harry, and others, ran over from afar.

”Strange, how did your owl find here...” Hermione looked at Fawkes lying on Kael’s leg and suddenly stopped in her tracks, ”Wait, that’s not an owl, it’s a Phoenix!”

”That’s Dumbledore’s Phoenix.” Harry said, having seen Fawkes many times and knowing that apart from Dumbledore, Kael was the only person it would actively approach.

However, Hermione and Ron didn’t know this. Although they had seen Fawkes before, it had been from afar, and it was the first time they were so close.

”Really amazing...” Ron said with envy.

He could already imagine that if he had a Phoenix on his shoulder, he would undoubtedly become the center of attention in any crowd.

Hermione was equally excited. She carefully reached out to touch the beautiful gold and red feathers on the sleeping Fawkes.

Seemingly sensing something, the next second, Fawkes suddenly opened its eyes, flapped its wings, jumped onto Kael’s shoulder, and continued sleeping.

This silent refusal left Hermione a bit disappointed.

”Fawkes doesn’t like being disturbed when napping, just like you wouldn’t want someone suddenly pulling the covers off when you sleep.” Kael explained.

”By the way, did Cedric say you were looking for me?”

”Yes.” Hermione quickly adjusted her mood. ”Cedric told me that you’ll be going to the Ministry of Magic tomorrow. I have some suggestions.”
