Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1054: Chapter 787: A Moment of Self-Indulgence (2)

”An old wizard with a wand taken and an arm that can’t be used doesn’t seem to do much good, does it?”

Instinctively, Kael also glanced at Dumbledore’s arm, ”But isn’t Professor Cecily at St Mungo’s making a potion for you?”

”That kind of magic potion is very troublesome, it would take at least a few months at the fastest.” Dumbledore said calmly, ”During this time, the effects of this special dark magic will continue to erode my magic power. In other words, during this period, it will be difficult for me to do anything.”

Hearing Dumbledore’s words, Kael became more troubled.

He originally thought that Dumbledore had just lost one of his hands, which for ordinary wizards might diminish some combat power. But for a wizard like Dumbledore, this level of impact is really not much.

He could also cast charms with one hand, only losing some auxiliary means, which could be compensated for through other forms.

As for the issue of the wand, it’s even simpler. Olivander has been rescued, so he can replace it at any time. Although it’s not as handy as the Elder Wand, it’s still usable.

Didn’t expect there to be such a situation.

It’s also the first time Kael heard of a dark magic that can erode one’s magic power.

Can only say, as expected of Voldemort... The curse on the ring, the magic potion storing the pendant box, and this time the special method prepared for Dumbledore, these are methods never recorded, and each is more malicious than the last.

No one would deny that his talent in dark magic is indeed astonishing, that the title of the ’Dark Lord’ is well-deserved.

Moreover, if it’s really like Dumbledore said, then this decision he made is quite reasonable.

At least during the time when Professor Cecily is brewing the antidote, Dumbledore is no longer suitable to face Voldemort head-on.

Because once he uses too much magic power, under the influence of dark magic he might make a mistake, and when facing a powerful wizard like Voldemort, even the smallest mistake is equivalent to death.

By that time, Dumbledore’s internal obsession would truly turn into regret.

After all, Voldemort wouldn’t treat Dumbledore the same way he treats Harry, with no cat-and-mouse teasing, he’d definitely kill at the first opportunity.

Kael sighed deeply, the choice seemed quite obvious.

”I have one more question.” He said, ”Professor, we can’t use the time turner to change past events, you must be more aware of that than anyone else.”

Dumbledore remained silent, not speaking or refuting, just sitting there, not knowing what he was thinking.

”I must remind you, even if you go back, do not attempt to change anything.” Kael continued, ”Otherwise, you might... end up killing Arianna yourself.”

As he spoke the last sentence, Kael’s tone was heavy.

He didn’t know what exactly happened that day, only that in a chaotic dispute, someone’s charm accidentally hit Arianna.

And no one knew who used that charm, what if it was the mistake of a returned Dumbledore trying to stop that incident? It’s not impossible.

Killing his own sister with his own hands, even Dumbledore would probably break down, right?

As Kael finished speaking, Dumbledore’s body visibly trembled.

”Wait, you’re not really thinking of stopping it, are you?” Kael couldn’t help but raise his voice and asked.

”Of course not.” Dumbledore immediately said, ”I know what to say, in fact, I just want to see her... just see her once more, even if it’s just a glance.”

His voice carried a bit of plea, ”I want to apologize to her, as a brother, I have been so incompetent in all my actions before.”

”Even though it’s a selfish act, I still want to seek her forgiveness.”

A teardrop trickled from the corner of Dumbledore’s eye, fell to the ground, and rolled into the thick dust.

This made Kael’s already wavering heart even more shaken.

He actually thought about a lot.

He also wondered if the wand taken by Voldemort, the arm struck by dark magic, were part of Dumbledore’s plan from the start.

That fits Dumbledore’s character well; he always likes to arrange everything, even if necessary, he’d unhesitatingly use his own life to pave a new path.

But when you think about it carefully, isn’t this another kind of helplessness? He’s just done all he can do, and without reservation.

At the moment he saw Dumbledore’s tears fall, those messy thoughts seemed to instantly disappear from Kael’s mind.

Kael couldn’t even describe what kind of feeling this was; he felt that letting Dumbledore have one act of willfulness didn’t seem to be a big deal.

Anyway, in his current state, even if he stayed, it wouldn’t really make much of a difference.

If Voldemort recovers from his injuries before Professor Cecily brews the antidote, coupled with the power of the Elder Wand, Dumbledore might have to use his life to buy everyone a little more time, and the situation might get worse afterward.

If Dumbledore leaves, it might instead give him a chance to make a comeback.

If he doesn’t recover, with Voldemort’s cautious nature, he wouldn’t recklessly come out. In this way, Dumbledore’s staying here doesn’t have much significance either.
