Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 670: Chapter 658: Building a Nest for Norbert with Galleons

It’s still the tea room on the sixth floor, the same private box Kael had been in a few days ago, even the position hadn’t changed, but this time the person opposite him had changed from Dumbledore to Dean Cecily.

For some reason, Kael always felt that this famous pharmacist looked a bit nervous.

He had seen the same expression on others before, like when Fred and George first started selling maps and sharing profits.

Very tense, but there was even more anticipation.

But the other person was the dean of St Mungo’s, and a more famous potion master than Snape, so she definitely wouldn’t be lacking Galleons, right...

”How’s everything going recently.” Dean Cecily poured two cups of red tea, ”Is your academic work going smoothly?”

It must be said, this opening line was really a bit stiff, just like relatives who haven’t seen each other for more than a decade suddenly meeting on the street, awkward yet obliged to chat a bit.

This is exactly how Kael felt now.

”Um, not bad.” He took the red tea and said, ”By the time I graduate next year, I should be able to get around ten certificates.”

”Ten? That’s quite an impressive achievement,” Dean Cecily said.

”It’s just a possibility.” Kael said quietly, ”It might be fewer.”

”Is that so?”

At this point, the conversation seemed to come to a halt, and the atmosphere in the box was somewhat awkward.

Kael was really not used to this kind of atmosphere, and wanted to break the ice... but since he didn’t know Cecily’s intentions, he could only randomly pick a topic.

”By the way, Dean Cecily, how’s Mr. Stodgy’s injury?”

”Pretty good, your method was very effective.” As soon as Dark Magic was mentioned, Dean Cecily’s tone immediately became much more natural,

”I managed to concoct the corresponding antidote by dawn the next day, and it worked well. The effects of the Dark Magic have already started to fade, and he should be back to normal in about a month.”

”That’s great.” Kael said with a smile, ”To concoct a brand new and targeted antidote overnight based on the characteristics of Dark Magic, no wonder Professor Dumbledore always says you are the greatest pharmacist.”

”I can’t call it a brand-new antidote,” Cecily shook her head, earnestly saying, ”Dark Magic is actually interlinked, just different branches. The Dark Magic on Stodgy was a type of Heart-Devouring Curse.

”This type of Dark Magic was very popular over a decade ago. I’ve seen it too many times. Plus, with the Phoenix Tears provided by Dumbledore, making the antidote wasn’t that difficult, time was the only requirement.

”And the Basilisk... just happened to solve this issue.”

When talking about the Basilisk, Dean Cecily paused for a moment, then continued:

”I never thought I would see a living Basilisk one day? And it even seemed to obey you...

”But I’ve always wondered, isn’t the Basilisk only supposed to obey the wizard who created it? Judging by the size of this Basilisk, it must have existed for several hundred years at least.”

”To be precise, more than a thousand years,” Kael said, ”But I’m sorry, due to some special reasons, I can’t disclose the origin of this Basilisk.”

”No, that’s quite understandable.”

Dean Cecily didn’t seem to care much about the origin of the Basilisk, or rather, what she cared most about was the Basilisk itself.

After the conversation shifted to the Basilisk, rather than continuing to beat around the bush, she straightforwardly said, ”The reason I contacted you this time is actually to ask if you are willing to sell the Basilisk. St Mungo’s is willing to pay the price of ten Fire Dragons to buy it.”

”I’m afraid that’s not possible,” Kael said without hesitation.

The price of ten Fire Dragons was truly tempting, but the value of a Basilisk far surpassed that of Galleons, and it was safer to keep such an extremely dangerous creature under one’s control.

He didn’t want to look up one day and see a pair of piercing yellow eyes staring at him.

To dispel Dean Cecily’s thoughts, Kael continued, ”Besides, this Basilisk has a special origin, and I only have usage rights. Even if I wanted to sell it, Professor Dumbledore would never agree.”

”Alright,” Dean Cecily seemed to have expected this outcome, and didn’t appear disappointed.

”Then what about materials related to the Basilisk, there should be no problem with those.” She poured another cup of red tea.

”If it affects the Basilisk itself, then forget it. But things like venom, snake blood, scales, and snake shedding, which are relatively less important, I hope you can consider selling them to St Mungo’s.

”Although there’s no market price for these things, I won’t let you suffer a loss; how about setting the price at ten times that of a Fire Dragon.

”For example, if the price of Dragon Blood is six Galleons per ounce, then Basilisk’s Blood would be sixty Galleons, how about that? For venom, let’s refer to the Eight-eyed Giant Spider, one pint for a thousand Galleons.”

Buying the Basilisk’s blood and venom?

Kael wasn’t sure if he was overthinking it, but he felt that this was Cecily’s real aim.

And the price she offered was indeed somewhat irresistible for Kael.

Sixty Galleons is almost the equivalent of most Ministry of Magic employees’ monthly salary, and that’s just for an ounce.

The Basilisk isn’t small... So to speak, even if Fawkes pecked a bit at the Basilisk for fun, it could still drip hundreds of Galleons.

Moreover, the venom was even more exaggerated; while drawing blood might affect the Basilisk in some ways, there’s really no concern at all about the venom.
