Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 657: Chapter 653: The Attacked Sirius (Double-Length) (Part 3)

For instance, a few days ago, someone was saying that Dumbledore was hiding an army in the school, preparing to attack the Ministry of Magic.

So when she heard about the Basilisk, she didn’t pay much attention, assuming it was just a Fantastic Beasts that had run into the castle from the Forbidden Forest.

But now, seeing the Basilisk appear before her eyes, she had no choice but to believe it.

”Not Hogwarts.” Dumbledore shook his head and pointed at Kael, who had just come out of the box. ”The Basilisk is now his...”

Cecily’s expression changed slightly once more, feeling that it was absurd.

A student raising a Basilisk... When did Hogwarts become so open? Such a thing wouldn’t be allowed even at the most tolerant of Dark Magic schools, like Durmstrang.

No wonder Dumbledore insisted on dealing with this before the people from the Ministry of Magic arrived.

If those Aurors saw the Basilisk... it’s likely the entire Hogwarts would be implicated, possibly even shutting down immediately.

Thinking of this, Cecily couldn’t help but look up at the giant creature in the room.

This was her first time seeing a Basilisk, a legendary Fantastic Beast.

The massive body, scales shimmering with a ghostly light, and those inadvertently exposed, sharply poisonous fangs over a dozen inches long... The visual impact was far more shocking than any book description.

”Professor, what should we do next?”

At this moment, Kael had also settled the Basilisk and looked up to ask.

”It’s quite simple.” Dumbledore waved his hand, conjuring a huge mirror on the wall opposite the sickbed, then looked at Kael’s shoulder.

Fawkes immediately flew beside Stodgy, blinked, and a crystal teardrop fell on his lips.

”Phoenix’s Tears, the most wondrous Healing Potion in the Magic Realm...” Cecily looked at Fawkes with burning eyes, more excited than when she first saw the Basilisk.

A Phoenix is every Healer’s dream Fantastic Beast, unmatched in its desirability. She had dreamed of luring Fawkes away from Dumbledore.

Unfortunately, despite investing many precious Herbs, Fawkes never paid her the slightest attention.

Meanwhile, on the sickbed.

The effect of the Phoenix’s Tears was immediate; shortly after dripping into his mouth, Stodgy’s eyelids twitched, and then he suddenly sat up from the bed.

He seemed to endure some unbearable pain and let out a piercing scream upon waking.

”Now...”

”Open your eyes!”

Dumbledore and Kael’s voices rang almost simultaneously.

The awakened Stodgy inevitably saw the mirror opposite him, and saw those orange-yellow snake eyes in the mirror, and in an instant, he was petrified.

The screaming stopped abruptly.

As the sound disappeared, Kael immediately ordered the Basilisk to close its eyes again and put it back into the box.

...

When he came out again, Cecily was checking on Stodgy’s condition.

”Simply incredible, the Dark Magic really did stop spreading...” she marveled in wonder: ”So this is the Basilisk’s curse they talk about... I didn’t expect the Basilisk’s gaze to have such an effect apart from killing.”

”Magic is so wondrous, full of the unknown...” Dumbledore said softly, ”Even the despicable Herpo probably didn’t expect the most wicked Dark Creature he created, a pure weapon of slaughter, could one day be used to save people.”

”Yes, you’re right.” Cecily put away her wand, ”This way, I have enough time to prepare the antidote.”

”By the way, you should know how to restore him from petrification, right?” She pondered for a moment, ”Is it with a Resurrection Potion made from Mandrake?”

”That’s correct.” Dumbledore nodded, ”Do you need me to provide fresh Mandrake? I remember there’s a batch in the school’s greenhouse.”

”That would be perfect.” Cecily nodded.

Although St Mungo’s also has fresh Mandrake, she had no reason to refuse if Dumbledore offered help.

”I’ll write to Pomona to send it over right away,” Dumbledore said.

Perhaps because the crisis was averted, their tone became considerably more relaxed while chatting.

But their gazes always seemed to land on Kael, intentionally or otherwise.

Cecily’s wasn’t too bad, mostly just curiosity, but Dumbledore’s gaze made Kael somewhat uneasy.

”We should be going back.” At this moment, Cecily suddenly said: ”I need to hurry and prepare the antidote so that the Ministry of Magic people don’t come by later and waste time with all their questions.”
