The Wizard Has A Biochip

Alright...

I took a deep breath.

Let’s begin.

I slowly raised both hands.

The training dummies stood motionless, waiting.

Here...

I could fail as many times as necessary.

Without harming my real body.

It was a privilege that no other acolyte possessed.

I closed my eyes for a brief moment.

I mentally recalled the entire structure of the magical construct.

The runes.

The sequence of words.

The flow of mana.

The gestures.

Everything.

Then I began.

— Light...

My voice echoed through the digital forest.

— O Light... shine forever...

The very moment I spoke the first words, I felt my consciousness sink even deeper into the simulation.

The biochip completely synchronized my perception with my virtual body.

Every muscle.

Every movement.

Every flow of mana.

Everything was reproduced with absolute precision.

Zummmm...

Golden particles began to appear around me.

Tiny rays of light were drawn toward my hands.

It was like watching luminous rivers flowing through the air.

The energy slowly condensed.

First came the grip.

Then the limbs of the bow.

Its delicate curves were formed layer by layer.

Soon after...

An arrow began to take shape.

Slender.

Elegant.

Shining like liquid gold.

My heart raced.

It’s working...

I continued reciting the incantation.

Tenth word.

Eleventh.

Twelfth.

Thirteenth...

Fourteenth...

When I spoke the fifteenth word...

My index finger moved half a second later than it should have.

It was a tiny difference.

Imperceptible to any ordinary person.

But magic did not forgive imperfections.

I immediately felt the flow of mana lose its stability.

Damn it...

I tried to correct it.

Too late.

BOOOOOOM!

The arrow exploded.

The entire bow collapsed.

A sphere of searing light expanded before me.

My virtual body was completely swallowed.

For a brief instant...

There was only light.

White.

Blinding.

Then came the heat.

A scorching wave swept through my entire body.

Even knowing it was only a simulation... I shuddered, and everything went dark.

...

One second later...

I opened my eyes again.

I was standing in the forest once more.

Without a single injury.

As if nothing had happened.

I ran a hand across my forehead.

What a horrible feeling...

The biochip had even reproduced the sensation of death.

It was terrifyingly realistic.

I took a deep breath and immediately tried again.

I raised my hands.

— Light...

— O Light... shine forever...

Mana began to converge once more.

The bow slowly reappeared.

This time, my movements were much better.

Thirteenth word.

Fourteenth.

Fifteenth.

Sixteenth...

Seventeenth...

My concentration wavered for less than a millisecond.

It was enough.

BOOOM!

Another explosion.

Another death.

Another restart.

I stared into the void for a few seconds.

Then...

I smiled bitterly.

— Again...

I continued.

Third attempt.

Fourth.

Fifth.

Sixth.

On the seventh, I messed up a gesture.

On the eighth, the mana condensed too quickly.

On the ninth, I pronounced a syllable with the wrong intonation.

On the tenth...

The arrow was successfully formed.

It exploded the moment I tried to fire it.

Eleventh.

Twelfth.

Thirteenth...

BOOM!

Another explosion.

My virtual form vanished once again.

I started laughing.

At first, quietly.

Then a little louder.

— Hahaha...

I shook my head.

— If this were the real world...

I looked at my own hands.

— I would have died on the very first attempt.

At that moment, I understood why so many acolytes gave up.

It wasn’t a lack of talent.

It was survival.

Every mistake could cost an arm.

A leg.

Or their very life.

In the virtual world...

The only price was mental exhaustion.

Even so...

I already felt drained.

My eyes burned.

My head felt heavy.

My concentration weakened with every attempt.

That was when an idea came to me.

I looked toward the digital horizon.

— Biochip...

— I need your help. Do you have any ideas that could help me?

[Beep!]

[Artificial experience generation is possible.]

[However, absorbing this volume of experience may cause the biological brain to experience dizziness, nausea, headaches, and temporary disorientation.]

I smiled.

— Even if I end up throwing up afterward...

— It’ll be worth it.

I took a deep breath.

Then I gave the order.

— Biochip!

— Activate Simulation Mode.

— Execute the Light Bow and Arrows and Hand of Light models simultaneously.

— Analyze every failure.

— Automatically correct each attempt.

— Generate artificial experience...

— Until complete mastery is achieved.

[Executing command...]

The entire virtual world began to tremble.

The sky vanished.

The forest dissolved.

The digital ocean returned for a few brief moments.

Soon after...

Hundreds of copies of myself appeared all around me.

Each George performed different movements.

Some failed right at the beginning.

Others managed to partially form the bow.

Some created the Hand of Light.

Others made it explode.

Thousands of mistakes.

Thousands of corrections.

Every failure was recorded.

Analyzed.

Corrected.

And immediately repeated.

At a speed impossible for any human being.

Another window appeared before my eyes.

[Simulated Models: 2]

[Parallel Instances: 512]

[Automatic Correction: Enabled]

[Estimated Time to Complete Mastery: 5 Days]

I stared at the number for several seconds.

Five days.

Only five days.

An ordinary acolyte would probably need several months to reach a similar level.

And that didn’t even take into account the constant risk of mutilation or death during training.

I crossed my arms.

A satisfied smile naturally appeared on my face.

— That’s enough.

I left the simulations to continue their work.

My consciousness slowly began withdrawing from the virtual environment.

The ocean of data disappeared.

My room came back into existence.

The following morning, I woke up before the biochip’s internal timer had even finished its alert.

The first thing I did was check the simulation’s progress.

[Artificial Experience in Progress]

[Light Bow and Arrows: 18%]

[Hand of Light: 21%]

[Estimated Time Remaining: 4 Days and 7 Hours.]

Shortly afterward, I left the dormitory.

My destination that morning was the Commercial Center.

I needed to sell another batch of Fire Explosive Crystals to Marcos.

A few minutes later, I stepped into Marcos’s small shop.

He raised his head the moment he saw me.

— George.

Without much ceremony, I carefully placed the explosive crystals on the counter.

Marcos began examining them one by one.

Finally, he nodded.

— Good quality.

This time, I didn’t want to trade them for more ingredients, so I received my pouch of magic crystals instead.

I checked it quickly.

Everything was in order.

I put away the payment.

— See you later.

I raised one hand and started walking toward the exit.

That was when...

My footsteps stopped.

My gaze was drawn to one of the shelves along the side wall.

There...

Among countless old books and scrolls...

One enormous volume immediately stood out.

Its cover was made of exceptionally thick dark leather.

The edges were reinforced with metal plates.

Golden letters gleamed subtly across the cover.

Technical Manual for Golem Construction.

I stood frozen.

For several seconds, I completely forgot where I was.

A golem manual...

My mind began working at an astonishing speed.

Golems.

Magical automatons.

Constructs.

It was one of the most complex fields of Magical Engineering.

Far beyond simple magical devices.

If I mastered that...

I would truly be operating on an entirely different level from ordinary engineers.

Behind the counter, Marcos let out a small chuckle.

— Found something interesting?

I immediately controlled my expression.

I calmly walked back to the counter.

I pointed at the book.

— That...

I tilted my head slightly.

— It wasn’t there when I came in.

Marcos wore a knowing smile.

— Maybe it wasn’t.

He shrugged.

— I figured an engineer like you might enjoy this kind of reading.

So it was a trap.

He had waited until after the sale to spark my interest.

It worked.

But I would never let him see that.

My expression remained perfectly calm.

— How much?

I asked as though I were looking at just another object.

Marcos rested one hand on the book.

As if protecting a treasure.

— A rare manual.

— Advanced engineering.

— Golem construction.

He paused dramatically.

Then he smiled.

— Three thousand magic crystals.

I almost laughed.

I crossed my arms.

— You must be joking.

Marcos simply smiled.

It was obvious he had been expecting exactly that reaction.

He slowly scratched his chin.

— Fine.

— How much are you offering?

I didn’t even need to think.

— Two thousand two hundred.

The answer came immediately.

He clicked his tongue.

— You’re trying to rob me.

I shook my head.

— No.

I stepped a little closer to the counter.

— The difference between us is simple.

I subtly pointed at the book.

— I’m an engineer.

— I know the cost of the materials.

— I know the technical value of every design.

— I know exactly which parts of this manual actually have practical value.

Marcos remained silent.

— To most acolytes...

— This book is nothing more than an expensive stack of pages.

— Very few of them could even build the first model described in it.

— Two thousand two hundred is a fair price.

He remained thoughtful for several seconds.

Then he let out a long sigh.

— Alright.

He nodded slowly.

— Two thousand two hundred.

I smiled faintly.

I got it.

But his next question immediately shattered my satisfaction.

— Do you have that kind of money right now?

The truth was...

I could gather that amount.

But I would never do it in front of him.

Displaying too many magic crystals seemed like a very bad idea.

So I lied.

— Not yet.

I raised my hands.

— But I promise I’ll buy it as soon as I gather the rest.

Marcos immediately frowned.

— So you want me to reserve this book...

— Without receiving any payment?

I nodded casually.

— Exactly.

He arched an eyebrow.

— And what if another buyer shows up?

I smiled.

— Just tell them it’s already been sold.

He slowly began tapping his fingers on the counter.

Then he flashed the typical smile of a merchant.

— In that case...

He paused for a moment.

— The price goes up to two thousand five hundred magic crystals.

My expression hardened.

— Marcos...

I looked him straight in the eye.

— That’s absurd.

He simply shrugged.

As if it were the most natural thing in the world.

— Welcome to the world of merchants.

I let out a deep sigh.

Damn him...

He knew exactly how badly I wanted that book.

And he was taking full advantage of it without the slightest bit of shame.

I looked once more at the massive manual.

I sighed and accepted.

— Deal.
