Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 398: Chapter 293: Evil Solomon Imp, This Old Man Will Personally...

Terrifying fluctuations of Magic Power and Divine Power ravaged the sky above the Magic City. Everyone in the city looked up at the sky in terror, collapsing powerlessly to the ground!

Before this dreadful power, they didn’t even have the strength to flee!

”Who!?”

However, not everyone in the city was paralyzed by fear. Just as the two Magic Arrays unfolded in the sky, a low, furious voice rang out.

At the same time, two beams of light shot out from the city. One exploded in the air, like a canopy, enveloping the entire city and forming an indestructible Defense Barrier.

The other beam of light shot straight toward the two Magic Arrays in the sky!

WHOOSH—

A black ray of light shot from the city and pierced straight through both Magic Arrays, causing a wave of distortion. Then, the Divine Magic Array and the Magic Array simultaneously exploded into a shower of light motes that filled the sky!

Isaac’s eyes narrowed slightly. He didn’t make another move, and at the same time, he stopped the Master of Blood, who was about to launch another bombardment. He looked toward the figure slowly emerging from the Void below.

No, to be precise, it wasn’t emerging from the Void.

Although Isaac hadn’t specialized in Space Magic, his perception in this area was quite sharp thanks to the power and Knowledge he had picked up from the Void Worms. The way this person appeared looked very much like Space Magic, but it actually wasn’t.

This was a movement ability more profound than Space Magic. It was what Isaac, or rather, what all Legendary Mages dreamed of: the Mysterious!

To be hidden within *the Mysterious*—the ultimate pursuit of a Legendary Mage!

A state only a Great Wizard could achieve. Upon reaching this stage, Wizards would be infinitely close to an Ordinary person’s simple understanding of a Deity’s might—Omniscience and omnipotence!

Of course, the person before him was certainly not capable of that. He had only scratched the surface, achieving Mysterious Trace!

Mysterious Trace, in theory, is a skill that only a Tier Five Legendary Wizard can master. It involves communicating with *the Mysterious* and using its power to conceal one’s actions.

In the early stages, it could only be used to cover one’s tracks, making it impossible to uncover the truth through normal means. But later, with the development of the Path of Wizardry, this technique gradually became even more inscrutable.

The most typical usage was how this person was employing it now: using the power of *the Mysterious* to ”conceal” the ”trajectory” of his movements, achieving a point-to-point movement effect similar to Space Teleportation.

This method of teleportation has an extremely high priority. It can ignore all space-locking methods and physical interceptions. There is only one way to stop the displacement of Mysterious Trace—

by using a higher level of *the Mysterious* to counter *the Mysterious*!

And it has to be a far superior level. If they are evenly matched, or if one is only slightly superior, neither can interrupt the other. Of course, the opponent can’t interrupt you either.

It could be said that this technique is extremely powerful. For a time in the past, it was widely considered by the Wizarding World to be the signature technique of a Legendary Wizard.

But with the development of the Path of Wizardry, exceptionally talented Tier Four Miracle Mages gradually became able to master this technique as well. They couldn’t use it as proficiently as a Legendary Wizard, nor could they use it to counter a Legendary Wizard who commanded a higher level of *the Mysterious*.

But as long as one mastered this move, they would be practically invincible among those at Tier Four!

So, even though he had recognized the technique the other party was using, Isaac’s expression grew even more solemn.

’Great, mystery solved. If I was just guessing before, then now I’m basically certain. He’s the one who helped that human master the Staff of Deformation. This is going to make recovering the Staff of Deformation a bit more troublesome...’

However, what Isaac didn’t know was that while he was wary of his opponent, his opponent was also wary of him!

There was no other reason than this: Isaac’s identity as a Mad Witch was simply too terrifying!

Although Isaac had only just been promoted to Tier Four, and had taken a shortcut at that, his reputation in the circles of Legendary Mages was actually even greater than that of many Legendary Wizards!

This was all because of his identity as a Mad Witch!

No, to be precise, it was his identity as a Mad Witch from the old era!

That was what was truly terrifying!

Among the Mad Witches of the old era, there were different degrees of madness. And even when compared to those old-era Mad Witches who had pioneered the Path of Wizardry, Isaac was among the most insane of them all!

The guy’s appetite for risk was fucking insane!

His predecessors had walked the path of the Mad Witch because they had no other choice. They did it to blaze a path of light through the darkness, so those were risks that had to be taken. They were forced into madness.

But what about Isaac?

Putting aside the fact that the kid was from the Nobility, the current environment for Wizards was already extremely friendly to Wild Sorcerers. With the Cabin in the Woods and the Truth Association, there was basically no shortage of channels for either Knowledge or resources. If one was willing to work hard, there was no lack of opportunity to earn money either.

You could say that in this day and age, for a Legendary Mage, as long as you had a bit of luck and played it safe, advancing to a High-level Mage was basically guaranteed. Their combat power might be a little weaker in comparison, but that was a small price to pay.

But compared to other Paths of the Extraordinary, these conditions were already extremely favorable.

Not to mention, Isaac wasn’t just anybody. Not only was he born into the Nobility, but he also had an older sister who was a Half-step Great Arcanist. Forget Wild Sorcerers; even compared to a direct-lineage Arcane Mage Apprentice from the proper Truth Association, his circumstances were quite excellent.

And yet, even with such favorable conditions, this guy still became a Mad Witch who dealt with an Outer God!
