Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 358: Chapter 261: Crimson: Infinite Dragon Swarm

WHOOSH~

Above the magnificent, multicolored surface of the Star Sea, a Flying Winged Fire Dragon zipped past, carving a massive wake into the water. The great commotion startled many Star Beasts beneath the surface, and they launched their attacks.

But while the Flying Winged Fire Dragon was only a Sub-dragon Species, its flight speed was nearly on par with a Pure-blooded Giant Dragon. The vast majority of the Star Beasts’ attacks couldn’t catch it.

The few Star Beasts whose attacks were fast enough lacked the power to do any real damage. Their strikes against the Flying Winged Fire Dragon were little more than an annoyance, not even enough to make it slow down.

This was because even in the Star Sea, not all Star Beasts—even those heavily influenced by the Power of Star God—were exceptionally powerful. The vast majority were still Tier One or Tier Two. However, as products of the Power of Star God, there were no Non-Rank Star Beasts; the lowest was Tier One.

The fundamental reason was that the Star Sea was, after all, not the open cosmos. Its environment wasn’t as harsh. Although Tier One and Tier Two Star Beasts died easily, they could at least survive here. In the void of space, by contrast, Star Beasts below Tier Three lacked the basic ability to even exist.

Furthermore, the Star Sea was part of the Endless Sea and was not completely cut off from it. Just as Isaac had been attacked by a Star Beast the moment he reached the border, the Star Beasts of the Star Sea could leave to roam in other parts of the ocean.

However, other regions of the ocean lacked the residual Power of Star God, making the environment there less appealing to them. This was why most Star Beasts congregated and remained active within the Star Sea.

Consequently, the reverse was also true. Just as the Star Sea didn’t prevent Star Beasts from entering other waters, it didn’t stop the Sea Beasts from other regions from flowing into it.

Of these Sea Beasts that migrated into the Star Sea, some were eaten as food by the Star Beasts. Others, however, struggled to survive, absorbed enough Power of Star God, and evolved into powerful Star Beasts themselves!

And were then eaten by even stronger Star Beasts...

This unique ecosystem meant that the number of Star Beasts in the Star Sea was far greater than that of the ”true” Star Beasts of the cosmos. Of course, it also meant their average power level was far lower.

Of course, an average is just an average. There were still plenty of High-level Star Beasts here.

And just like that...

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Directly in the Flying Winged Fire Dragon’s path, several Water Blades shot out from the sea, slashing straight toward it!

At the same time, a strange Force Field descended. The invisible field formed into eerie, incorporeal ropes that wrapped around the Flying Winged Fire Dragon. While they couldn’t stop it completely, they effectively restricted its flight speed.

On the Flying Winged Fire Dragon’s back, Lorna narrowed her eyes. Her lips parted as she spoke softly, ”Stop. Deal with it.”

”ROAR!”

Though her words were a mere whisper that should have been lost to the wind, they reached the Flying Winged Fire Dragon’s ears with perfect clarity. It let out a confident roar, and the violent soundwave instantly shattered the three Water Blades.

Then...

HSSSSSS!!!!

The Flying Winged Fire Dragon took a deep breath. Its chest swelled, glowing with a red light...

BOOM!

The next moment, a searing, deep-red stream of light erupted from the Flying Winged Fire Dragon’s mouth, shooting not toward the direction the Water Blades had come from... but toward a spot three hundred meters to its right!

The deep-red, fiery breath instantly vaporized the seawater in its path and the invisible Force Field around it. At the same time, a massive cloud of steam billowed into the air!

WHOOSH~

Immediately after, a fierce wind howled as the steam swirled into a vortex, converging on Anna, who sat on the dragon’s back. A deep-red radiance flickered within the white, misty vortex, accompanied by an intense Dragon Magic Power that gave off an ominous feeling.

”ROAR!”

Elsewhere, the Shark Star Beast—which had lost nearly half its body to the Flying Winged Fire Dragon’s breath attack—opened its massive maw. A violent, silver soundwave blasted toward the dragon. Simultaneously, a mysterious starlight appeared on its wound, and the part of its body that had been blasted away began to regenerate at a visible rate. In the blink of an eye, it was completely restored.

No, it wasn’t just restored. The Shark Star Beast’s body had become even bigger and stronger than before!

As the saying goes, for every loss, there is a gain. In exchange for losing the Authority that normal High-level Creatures possess, Star Beasts gained an unparalleled rate of physical growth!

Every time they were injured, their physical strength would increase significantly after they recovered. This, combined with their equally terrifying regeneration speed...

This perfect combination of abilities not only gave Star Beasts the qualifications to fight against normal High-level Life, but it even allowed them to grow stronger as the battle raged on!

They were just like a certain Warrior who uses the Silly Spirit Technique—born to fight, and they won’t stop until their last brain cell dies.

Therefore, there were typically only three ways to deal with these Star Beasts. The first was to one-shot them with absolute power. ’Your mechanics are great, but my stats are better!’

The second was to do as Isaac had done before: focus on control. ’I can’t kill you, but you can’t stop me from doing what I need to do.’ The third way was like a Dimension Apostle: if you lack both stats and control, you rely on absolute endurance to slowly grind them down.

As for Lorna, although she didn’t have Isaac’s endless bag of tricks and didn’t know how to control the beast, as a Witch, the two things she didn’t lack were mechanics and stats!

Even more fittingly, her mechanics existed to serve her stats. So, facing the Shark Star Beast that had recovered in a near instant, Lorna simply pushed forward the deep-red ball of mist in her hand.

Immediately, the Flying Winged Fire Dragon folded its wings, enveloping its own body and Lorna on its back, perfectly defending against the Shark Star Beast’s sonic roar!

At the same time, the deep-red mist ball Lorna had thrown was, as expected, shattered by the Flying Winged Fire Dragon’s own deep-red soundwave. In an instant, countless white, misty dragons with deep-red chests roared out from within, flying toward the Shark Star Beast!

Authority Magic—Crimson: Infinite Dragon Swarm!

Authority Magic, like a Wizard’s Authority Spells, is a type of magic that extracts the full potential of an Authority. Of course, that’s not entirely accurate. To be precise, Authority Spells are more like a copy of Authority Magic.

This is because Authority Spells were developed by studying Authority Magic. The biggest difference between the two is that Authority Spells are researched and created by Wizards themselves, whereas Authority Magic is awakened from a Witch’s bloodline, along with her Authority, upon her promotion to a High-level Witch.

When Lorna was promoted to a High-level Witch, the Authority she awakened was named [Giant Dragon]—an extremely special Authority that existed somewhere between a [Concept] and an [Authority].

The Authority Magic she awakened belonged to the Crimson series.

Yes, a series.

Witches are a group highly favored by the world. Not only do they not need to research their Authority Magic, but it even awakens in entire sets!

For example, Crimson: Infinite Dragon Swarm is a Summoning Magic based on her [Giant Dragon] Authority. It can summon an endless stream of Weak Tier Three Giant Dragon and Sub-Dragon projections to destroy a pre-locked target. As long as the target lives, the swarm will not stop!

The Authority Magic of the Crimson series is all incredibly destructive. There are no fancy mechanics, only pure stats!

Therefore...

The outcome of the battle was, naturally, no surprise. Besieged by the infinite swarm of misty white dragons, no matter how powerful its body or how strong its Recovery Power, the Shark Star Beast was eventually devoured completely. It transformed into a deep-red crystal that flew into Lorna’s hand.
