Beast Taming: Reincarnated With The Ultimate Bond System!

Chapter 319: Chapter : 319 : Luna Nightshade V/S Elara Voss! : 1

”Ready to be put down like the mutt you are, Nightshade?” Elara’s voice carried across the arena, laced with ice and venom. ”Or are you still hoping your peasant husband will come save you?”

Luna’s grin was all teeth. ”Keep talking, princess. Your voice is the only thing colder than your magic.”

They moved at the same moment.

Luna exploded forward in a low, quadrupedal sprint, claws gouging deep furrows into the reinforced stone with every stride. Each impact left a spider-web crater the size of a dinner plate. The crowd gasped as the platform trembled.

Elara didn’t even flinch. She flicked two fingers and a razor-sharp barrage of ice needles — thirty of them — screamed toward Luna in a perfect fan pattern, each one humming with compressed mana.

Luna twisted mid-stride, body contorting like a wolf dodging arrows. Most needles shattered against the stone behind her, but three grazed her shoulder. Frostbite bloomed instantly on her skin.

”Too slow!” Luna snarled, launching herself into a spinning leap. She came down with both claws, raking toward Elara’s face.

Elara stepped sideways with impossible grace. The claws missed by inches and slammed into the floor instead. BOOM. A crater two meters wide exploded outward, stone fragments flying like shrapnel. The shockwave lifted Elara’s cape dramatically.

Elara laughed, low and mocking. ”Cute. But brute force is so... commoner.” She snapped her wrist. A wall of ice erupted from the ground right in front of Luna — three meters tall, mirror-smooth, and reinforced with layered mana runes that glowed pale blue.

Luna didn’t slow down. She slammed shoulder-first into the wall like a living battering ram. The impact rang out like a cathedral bell. Cracks spider-webbed across the ice, but it held. For half a second.

Then Luna’s claws punched straight through. She tore the wall apart in a spray of glittering shards, roaring as she burst through.

Elara was already ten meters away, skating backward on a thin sheet of ice that formed beneath her feet. She twirled once, elegant as a dancer, and hurled a spear of solid ice the length of a lance. It left a visible trail of frost in the air.

Luna batted it aside with a backhand. The spear exploded on contact, freezing her forearm solid up to the elbow.

”Ha! Got you,” Elara sneered.

Luna flexed. The ice cracked and shattered off her arm in chunks. Steam rose from her skin where the cold fought against the raw heat of her boosted power. ”You call that an attack? Master’s morning wood hits harder than that.”

In the higher gallery, Aiden gave a nervous chuckle, ”Oh.. God.”

Elara’s icy-blue eyes narrowed. ”Crude animal.” She raised both hands. The temperature plummeted again. The entire arena floor began to frost over in a widening circle. ”Let’s see how your little wolf tricks handle this.”

She stomped once.

Hundreds of ice spikes erupted from the ground in a deadly forest, each one razor-tipped and three meters tall. They surged toward Luna in a rolling wave, the sound like cracking thunder.

Luna became a blur of black and silver. She bounded, twisted, ricocheted off one spike to another, using them like springboards. Her claws left deep gouges in every spike she touched, shattering several into glittering dust. One spike nearly impaled her thigh — she twisted at the last second, took a shallow cut, and kept moving.

”Too many toys, princess!” Luna shouted mid-leap. She landed on all fours and charged straight at Elara through the collapsing forest of ice. ”Come here and fight like you mean it!”

Elara smiled coldly. ”As you wish.”

She clapped her hands together. The remaining spikes all detonated at once, turning into a storm of razor-sharp shrapnel that filled the entire platform. At the same time, she summoned a perfect dome of ice around herself — thick, opaque, and reinforced with six overlapping layers of mana.

Luna roared and powered straight through the blizzard. Shards sliced across her arms, shoulders, and cheeks, drawing thin lines of blood that froze instantly on her skin. She hit the ice dome like a meteor.

CRACK.

The outer three layers shattered instantly. Luna’s claws dug into the fourth, fifth — her muscles bulging, veins standing out under the uniform. The sixth layer held for a full second before her fist punched clean through.

Elara was no longer inside.

She had slipped through the back of the dome and reformed ten meters away on a floating platform of ice, now hovering three meters above the ground. From her new vantage, she unleashed a barrage of ice projectiles — not needles this time, but spinning discs the size of dinner plates, edged with saw-tooth mana blades. They hummed as they flew in complex intersecting arcs.

Luna dropped to all fours and sprinted in a wide circle, dodging, leaping, rolling. One disc grazed her tail; she yelped but kept moving. Another sliced a chunk out of her skirt. She snarled and changed direction, closing the distance again.

”You’re just running away now?” Luna taunted, voice raw with excitement. ”Scared your precious noble ass is gonna get scratched?”

Elara’s laugh was pure ice. ”I’m simply enjoying the view of a mutt chasing its own tail.” She flicked her fingers again. The floating platform beneath her split into six smaller discs. She stepped onto one and began skating through the air in elegant loops, raining down icicle spears from every angle.

Luna’s eyes tracked her like a predator. She waited for the perfect heartbeat — then sprang straight up, twenty feet into the air, claws outstretched.

Elara’s eyes widened fractionally. She hadn’t expected the raw vertical power.

Luna’s claws raked across Elara’s midriff, tearing through the red blazer and drawing three shallow, bleeding lines across her toned stomach. The noble girl hissed in pain and retaliated instantly — a point-blank blast of freezing mist straight into Luna’s face.

Up in the gallery, Elarion hissed, ”You!”

Luna’s vision went white with frost. She twisted mid-air and landed hard, cracking the stone again. She shook her head violently, frost flying from her jade-black hair.

Elara touched down lightly, pressing one hand to her bleeding stomach. A thin smile played on her lips. ”First blood to the mutt. Congratulations. Now let me show you what real power looks like.”

She raised both arms. The entire colosseum floor began to glow with intricate ice runes. A massive magic circle — twenty meters across — formed beneath them. The air turned arctic. Snow began to fall inside the arena despite the afternoon sun.

Luna felt the mana pressure like a physical weight. Her wolf instincts screamed danger, but she grinned wider. ”Bring it, ice queen.”

Elara poured mana into the circle. A colossal ice golem — fifteen feet tall, armored in layered frost plate, wielding a massive war-hammer of solid glacier — rose from the ground in a shower of snow and shards. Its eyes glowed the same icy blue as Elara’s.

The golem swung.

Luna barely dodged. The hammer cratered the platform where she had stood, sending a shockwave that knocked several spectators off their feet in the front rows.

Luna laughed wildly. ”Now we’re talking!” She charged the golem head-on.

Her claws met the ice hammer in a deafening clang. Sparks of mana flew. The impact sent Luna skidding backward ten meters, heels digging trenches, but she didn’t fall. She used the momentum to spin into a rising kick that shattered the golem’s knee joint.

The construct staggered.

Elara snapped her fingers. The golem’s broken knee reformed instantly, even thicker than before. It swung again — a horizontal sweep that forced Luna to leap over it. While she was airborne, Elara fired a concentrated beam of absolute-zero ice from her palm, thin as a rapier.

Luna crossed her arms in front of her chest. The beam hit like a freight train, freezing her forearms solid and driving her back into the edge of the arena.

For a moment the colosseum fell silent.

Then Luna’s roar shattered the quiet. She flexed. The ice on her arms exploded outward in a shower of glittering dust. Blood trickled from her nose, but her blue eyes were blazing.

She blurred forward faster than before.

Elara’s eyes narrowed. For the first time, a flicker of genuine surprise crossed her face. She began weaving more complex spells — ice mirrors that reflected her own attacks, doubling the number of projectiles; freezing mist that slowed Luna’s movements; localized blizzards that formed miniature tornadoes of razor hail.

Luna fought like the wolf she was: relentless, adaptive, savage. She smashed through mirrors, powered through blizzards, and used the golem’s own body as a springboard to launch herself at Elara again and again. Every missed claw strike left another crater. Every successful graze drew blood from the noble girl.

Elara’s mana control was flawless. She never wasted a drop. She created ice clones of herself that fought independently, each one casting its own spells. She turned the arena floor into a minefield of pressure-sensitive ice mines that detonated into freezing explosions when Luna stepped on them. She summoned ice chains that tried to bind Luna’s limbs mid-leap.

But Luna was simply too strong physically. She shattered chains with raw flexes, tanked explosions that would have killed lesser students, and kept closing the distance no matter what Elara threw at her.

They clashed in the center again — claw versus ice rapier that Elara had formed in her hand. Sparks flew. Mana clashed against raw physical might.

”You’re slowing down, wolf bitch,” Elara panted, a trickle of blood running from the corner of her mouth. ”How long will your power last?”

”Longer than your noble ego,” Luna shot back, fangs flashing. She head-butted Elara — a full wolf skull crack that sent the noble girl flying twenty meters across the arena.

Elara crashed hard, cape torn, uniform shredded at the shoulders. She rose slowly, breathing hard, but still smiling that superior smile.

”Enough games,” she whispered.

She placed both palms on the ground. The massive magic circle flared brighter than ever. The temperature dropped so low that frost formed on the spectator barriers.

A new construct began to rise — not one golem this time, but three. Each one was sleeker, faster, armed with ice scythes and covered in razor spines. At the same time Elara lifted into the air on wings of pure ice, hovering like an avenging angel. From her hands formed a massive glacial bow. She nocked an arrow of compressed absolute-zero energy that made the air scream.

Luna rolled her shoulders, cracked her neck, and dropped into a low predatory crouch. Blood dripped from a dozen cuts. Her uniform was in tatters, but her eyes were still bright with battle-lust.

”Come on then, princess,” she growled, tail lashing. ”Let’s finish this.”
