A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 149 Angelina’s Tea Party 18Angelina could not accept this at all.

Who could accept a camper van suddenly appearing in their house, tearing down walls, crushing furniture, and remaining completely unscathed—not to mention flashing its headlights twice?

It did flash its headlights twice, right? It was provoking her, wasn’t it?!

At the doorway, Lin Xiangjun silently withdrew her hand.

Who knew that the offerings for the camper van—the car keys and the car itself—were separated? The car was on the ground, and the car keys were in her pocket. She felt her pocket sink, reached in instinctively, and accidentally unlocked the car.

Angelina stared at the scene before her with wide eyes.

Although this vehicle appeared suddenly, there was no one else around, and she had no evidence, Angelina knew deep down that this matter absolutely had something to do with that inexplicable Guest.

Besides that strange Guest, who else in this house had the ability to cause such a commotion?

Those Servants who had been completely controlled? The previous batch of Guests she had already thrown into the basement? Or the Guests currently waiting quietly in the Guest rooms, unaware that they would soon become useless waste that only knew how to eat?

Thinking of the Guests who hadn’t attended the tea party yet, Angelina’s expression shifted.

They hadn’t attended the afternoon tea party, hadn’t drunk her black tea, and were not yet completely under her control. The commotion just now was so loud that they must have heard it, and it was hard to guarantee they wouldn’t come out to investigate.

If they discovered what was happening in the basement...

Noble ladies were the most well-informed; if they found out, and she couldn’t get rid of all of them immediately, then after today, it would be the end of her Marquiss Mansion!

She wanted to dispose of all those noble ladies, but the tea party hadn’t started yet, and the carriage drivers and attendants who had brought the noble ladies to the Marquiss Mansion were still here. If she rashly dealt with them now, those Servants would definitely send the news out!

Absolutely not!

Angelina looked at the collapsed wall and bookshelf. This room had become a semi-open space with almost no concealment; anyone who approached would be able to see everything clearly.

”Butler!”

Lin Xiangjun had just secretly finished sticking the monitor onto Angelina and hadn’t had time to move away from the scene when a figure suddenly appeared in the room.

It was the handlebar-mustached Butler who had been following Angelina earlier.

Angelina must have already been to the basement once, as she had a faint aura of weirdness on her, but the Butler was different—he had no weird aura, and his physique and appearance were exactly the same as a human’s.

If he hadn’t appeared so suddenly—so suddenly that even Lin Xiangjun, who was constantly vigilant of her surroundings, hadn’t seen how he appeared in place—this Butler would have been completely indistinguishable from an ordinary human.

The Butler appeared suddenly, stood respectfully in place, and bowed to Angelina: ”Do you have any instructions, Madam?”

Every hair on Lin Xiangjun’s body stood on end.

She was certain, absolutely positive, that when the Butler lowered his head to bow, he had definitely looked at her!

She had made eye contact with that Butler!

That Butler had discovered her!

This wasn’t just a matter of having her tracks discovered; the problem was that her Invisibility Cloak hadn’t expired yet!

This Butler had observed her location directly through the item.

It was like hiding well in a bush, only to be suddenly clubbed to death; you wouldn’t know where the attacker had been crouching, when they had discovered you, or how long they had been silently observing you.

Lin Xiangjun immediately tensed her muscles; she gripped her sharp knife in one hand and pulled out ”a ballpoint pen” with the other.

”[a ballpoint pen: Place the pen cap at the location you need to target, and the person holding the pen body can teleport back to the location of the pen cap at any time. This item is limited to one use per instance. Why would a pen have teleportation abilities? Perhaps because people are always losing the pen cap.]”

The cooldown for the ballpoint pen had already refreshed when she entered the new instance. When she entered the tea room for the second time, she had used double-sided tape to stick the pen body to the back of her chair.

Originally, it was to prevent any accidents while looking for sugar cubes and tea leaves, in case she didn’t have enough time to rush to the tea party venue. Who knew it would come in handy exactly when needed.

The Butler’s strength was definitely not weak. Lin Xiangjun couldn’t make an accurate judgment on exactly how strong he was, but she could attack, defend, and run now. Even if she were truly outmatched, she could at least retreat safely and think of another way.

But unexpectedly, although the Butler had discovered her, he didn’t report it to Angelina. After bowing, he maintained a solemn posture and stood quietly to the side, waiting for Angelina’s instructions.

Angelina’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. She gritted her teeth and cursed: ”Well done, very good. I’ve never seen something so reckless! Just wait, just wait, I will definitely make that Guest pay the price for their arrogance!”

”Butler! You arrange for a few Servants now to calm those noble ladies down. Don’t let them come out and cause trouble at a time like this! Damn it, why does everyone add to my burden every single day!”

The Butler ignored Angelina’s complaints. He remained expressionless, acknowledged Angelina’s request, and then turned and left the study.

Angelina panted heavily in the study. Once she calmed her emotions, she walked into the basement.

...

”Good heavens, what was that noise just now? I was in my own room, and my heart nearly stopped from fright.”

”Me too. I was embroidering a handkerchief, and that thud startled me so much that the needle slipped, pricking my finger. It still hurts now.”

”With such a loud noise, I don’t even know where the Marchioness is...”

”Shh, keep your voice down. If Angelina hears you call her that, she will definitely get angry!”

The noble lady in the rose-pink dress was reminded by the person next to her. Realizing she had violated the host’s taboo, she quickly covered her mouth with a fan, not daring to say anything more.

The Guest beside her was wearing a gold-red dress. She stood in the middle of the three noble ladies, her voice clear and inevitably tinged with curiosity about the unknown: ”I heard the sound came from the study. I wonder what could have happened to cause such a commotion—it was scarier than the gunshots during hunting season. I wonder how Angelina is doing? If she was alone, she must have been terrified by that sound too, right?”

The few of them spoke one after another, walking toward the study, when a suddenly appearing dark shadow blocked their path.

”Good afternoon, Lady Anton, Lady O’Neil, Lady White. How have you been resting?”

The lady in the deep yellow dress nodded: ”We have been resting very well, but we suddenly heard a very loud noise and were a bit worried about whether Angelina had encountered any accidents, so we came together to check on her.”
