A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 141 Angelina’s Tea Party 10There was no movement outside the door, not even the sound of the White Bow Tie Servant cleaning.

It was unnervingly quiet.

Lin Xiangjun peered through the crack in the door. The living room was indeed empty; the White Bow Tie Servant and the starving Guest had both vanished.

In the spot where she had previously thrown the biscuit crumbs, the cabinet had been shoved askew. Ornaments that had been on the cabinet now lay on the floor—shattered porcelain, water, scattered flowers, and nameless trinkets... The scene was nothing short of a complete mess.

The floor and the cabinet panels were corroded with several pockmarked palm prints. Looking closer, one could even see several distinct, deep tooth marks. Compared to this terrifying bite force and digestive system, even an adult hyena would seem as inexperienced as a raw recruit.

”They really must be starving crazy to gnaw on the cabinet.”

Lin Xiangjun had a clear view of the general situation in the living room through the crack, but the rest remained in her blind spot. Unless she could shove her eyeballs out through the crack, there was no way to observe it.

”Are they gone?”

Lin Xiangjun stroked her chin, lost in thought.

Friends who often play the middle lane in Honor of Kings know that if the enemy hasn’t shown any vision and no one is clearing the minion wave when the lines meet, you absolutely must not be greedy for those few hundred gold coins.

The bushes on both sides of the middle lane right now could hold more than Liangzi’s massive stomach.

The moment you dare to show your head, you’ll be one-shot.

The living room looked safe at first glance, but Lin Xiangjun already felt a deep sense of malice beneath this safety. She thought for a moment and quietly took the [Stiffness and Slowdown Spray] into her hand.

This bottle seemed to be the saliva of some kind of Rose-spotted Velvet Worm. It sounded rather disgusting, and she hadn’t found a suitable situation to use it, so it had been sitting idle ever since she obtained the item. Now was the perfect time to test its effects.

Even if she sensed something was wrong, she couldn’t just crouch here forever. She still hadn’t obtained the sugar cubes and tea leaves. At this moment—

The door was slowly pushed open a crack.

Lin Xiangjun held her breath.

”Creak—”

Although the door here was far from old or dilapidated, when Lin Xiangjun carefully pushed it open, it still let out that creak of disrepair, a staple in horror games.

In the quiet manor, this sound was extremely sharp and jarring.

Lin Xiangjun cursed inwardly, ”Oh no.”

It was the same type of door; the Guest room door didn’t make a sound when opened, but the dining room door made such a loud noise. What did that mean?

It meant it was a trap outside!

And sure enough, it was.

That ”creak” was like a bugle call for a charge, or perhaps manure splashed into a kennel; it stirred up a hornet’s nest. As soon as the sound rang out, several roars came from Lin Xiangjun’s blind spot!

”Roar—” ”Roar—” ”Roar!!” ”Roar!!!!”

Accompanying the roars, a bony, emaciated hand suddenly squeezed through the crack in the door.

Although Lin Xiangjun had clashed with the starving Guest while hiding earlier and had seen what their bodies looked like, it didn’t have the same impact as this sudden, in-your-face shock.

The hand looked like a chicken claw that had been gnawed clean; there was no meat left on it, and the wrinkled skin clung tightly to the bone. The five fingers clawed desperately at the air, as if trying to drag Lin Xiangjun out of the tea room.

Seeing this gnawed-clean chicken claw, Lin Xiangjun’s first reaction was:

She might be the only person who couldn’t say, ”Both the palm and the back of the hand are flesh.”

Because there was no flesh on either the palm or the back of its hand.

The inside of the palm it had reached out was already rotting, with black, loose skin tissue hanging off it, festering and oozing pus—it was as disgusting as it could possibly be.

If one absolutely had to classify this thing as flesh, then the monkeys in Darwin’s Incident could also be classified as outstanding humans.

Right in the center of this charred palm, a biscuit was stuck fast.

The palm was less than ten centimeters from Lin Xiangjun’s eyes. Even though the five fingers were spread wide open, the biscuit showed absolutely no sign of falling.

It was even more solid than the Guest’s own skin tissue.

One hand reaching in wasn’t the end of it; next came the second, the third... A dense mass of emaciated arms squeezed through the crack in the door. Every arm was clawing desperately, and every palm had an identical biscuit stuck to it.

Like maggots swarming over a corpse, opening their pale yellow mouths, shaking their heads as they enjoyed this feast.

Goosebumps broke out all over Lin Xiangjun’s body; she shuddered, disgusted by the sight before her and her own imagination.

Countless palms reached in from outside, and the starving Guests outside were also crazily slamming against the tea room door. The Guests’ consciousness was blurred, only knowing how to act on instinct.

Fortunately, Lin Xiangjun herself had decent physical fitness, and her strength had increased quite a bit during the past month of training. Although the door was being slammed desperately by several people from the outside, the force of the impact, frankly speaking, wasn’t as great as when Aunt Bai hit her in the chest.

The starving Guests slammed against the door while roaring, interspersed with unintelligible invitations.

”Eat... biscuit...”

”I know you’re hungry, I brought you a biscuit...”

”Come on, eat it, it’s delicious, such delicious biscuits...”

”Eat the biscuits?”

Eat the biscuits stuck in their palms, wrapped in flesh corroded into black bread, looking like the little lure on an anglerfish’s head?

Lin Xiangjun braced against the door and, without hesitation, pressed the [Stiffness and Slowdown Spray] in her hand several times toward the crack.

The mass of flailing arms seemed to be struck by a club; they all froze in place simultaneously, maintaining their spread-finger posture like a cluster of bizarre coral.

Only when these palms stopped moving did she heave a sigh of relief and cautiously open the door.

Outside the door stood four or five starving Guests, each gaunt and hollow-cheeked, with unfocused eyes and gaping mouths, like zombies from Resident Evil.

Each Guest clutched an identical biscuit in their palm—some in the left hand, some in the right. But regardless of which hand it was, the biscuit was firmly stuck to the palm, as solid as if it had grown into the flesh, with not even a gap to be found.

She tried to pry one off with a knife. However, as soon as the blade was inserted, before she could even apply force, the Guest who had been hit by the [Stiffness and Slowdown Spray] began to convulse crazily like someone having an epileptic seizure. It was twitching and rolling its eyes, showing signs of breaking free from the spray’s effect.

Not knowing if these Guests were from the previous batch or this one, Lin Xiangjun didn’t dare to rashly take their lives. She quickly stopped her actions and could only use her phone to take two photos of the biscuits.

The duration of the [Stiffness and Slowdown Spray] was unknown, so Lin Xiangjun didn’t waste any more time on these Guests.
