A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 143 Angelina’s Tea Party 12He bowed to Lin Xiangjun again, the throat in his neck wriggling a few times. It seemed like he was saying something, but unfortunately, lacking a tongue, Lin Xiangjun couldn’t understand him.

If she couldn’t understand, then so be it. Lin Xiangjun was busy digging his brains out from the folds of her ears, so she just nodded casually.

The headless White Bow Tie Servant picked up his egg basket again and walked steadily toward the kitchen.

Very steady; it seemed not having eyes didn’t affect his ability to see the way.

After the White Bow Tie Servant left, Lin Xiangjun wiped everything off her body until it was completely clean, then slowly reached out to steady herself against the wall.

”... Damn it, why is there such a disgusting thing in this instance? Don’t let me find out who designed this instance, or I’ll really—ugh—”

The nausea arrived late, but it arrived.

As Lin Xiangjun was leaning against the wall cursing, her throat and stomach suddenly convulsed. She didn’t even have time to react; bending over, the little food remaining in her stomach poured out, spreading into a puddle on the floor.

The sour taste, bitter taste, the oily taste of undigested food in her mouth, along with the lingering scent of camellia and rot hanging around the tip of her nose.

Disgusting to the extreme.

Treating an exit as an entrance might be enjoyable, but treating an entrance as an exit is definitely not enjoyable at all.

”... If I had known there would be such an ordeal today, I would have jumped on the trend back when ED (a type of dieting and purging behavior) was popular online, just to get used to it in advance.”

Spitting out the long, stringy saliva that wouldn’t quite fall from her mouth, she took out some mineral water to rinse, then placed an order for a bottle of chewing gum on the Forbidden APP.

The fresh mint flavor dispelled the sticky, lingering scent of camellia. The nausea finally faded, and she was able to take out her phone to check the time.

After such a delay, Angelina’s nap time would be over in half an hour.

Lin Xiangjun couldn’t afford to delay any longer. She changed out of her clothes stained with vomit and flesh, leaving them where she stood. She peeked out through the door crack in advance, confirmed no one was there, and then pushed the door open to head toward the study.

The hallway was empty, without any White Bow Tie Servant or hungry Guests; there was no one else but Lin Xiangjun.

That was normal. At this time, the White Bow Tie Servant should be preparing afternoon tea snacks, and the hungry Guests should be looking for food near the dining room. The study was quite far from both the kitchen and the dining room, so it was normal that they weren’t around.

Thinking this, Lin Xiangjun pushed open the door to the study.

She was fully prepared when she entered, her right hand habitually gripping her knife—now that it was confirmed the wandering Guests were just leftovers from the previous batch, killing them wouldn’t affect today’s tea party, so she no longer held back.

However, the study was as quiet as the hallway.

While it was called a study and the collection of books was indeed substantial, it wasn’t as exaggerated as in TV shows or movies where every wall was lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves packed with thousands or tens of thousands of books.

The study was furnished with a sofa for resting and a round rug. There were no decorations on the walls, but they were covered in wallpaper patterned with camellias—bright pink flowers with green stems that, from a distance, looked like poisonous snakes crowned with flowers, appearing eerie and terrifying.

Lin Xiangjun shivered.

That strange scent of camellia seemed to wrap around her again. She suppressed the stomach acid churning in her throat and carefully pushed the door open to enter.

There were a dozen bookshelves in the study. She had originally thought the rules were clear and the clues wouldn’t be hard to find, but who knew that the moment she pushed the door open, she would realize she had thought things were too simple.

【5. The tea leaves are in the locked glass display cabinet in the study. The sugar cubes are in the ivory jar on the bedroom vanity.】

The dozen bookshelves in the study all looked identical—each had a glass door with a keyhole in the center, and they were packed full of books.

Clearly, these bookshelves were the ”locked glass display cabinets.”

Lin Xiangjun had originally wanted to judge based on which bookshelf contained a tea canister, but unfortunately, the instance didn’t intend to let her have it easy. Behind the glass of every bookcase was a ceramic jar; all ten or so jars were identical in size and pattern, and after looking around, Lin Xiangjun couldn’t see anything special about any of them.

However, whether it was a turn of fortune or the instance finally having a conscience, just when she had a splitting headache, she turned her head and saw the bookshelf behind the sofa.

To be precise, she saw an ”eye” on the bookshelf.

It was the natural grain of a tree knot, forming a dark brown oval darker than its surroundings, which, combined with the surrounding wood grain, looked just like an ”eye.”

Lin Xiangjun remembered the paper with blurry handwriting she had found in the Guest room.

”Don’t trust her pearls, don’t trust her pearls! Tea leaves # @ & か bookcase か & ∞ eye! Sugar cubes $ # % ￥ vanity ∞ # & @ ￥ tears!!! Only when the clock runs backward!!! Is it ◎ # ￥ #!!!”

”Bookcase... eye... so did that note mean that the tea leaves are in the bookcase with the eye?”

She murmured softly and slowly approached the bookcase with the eye.

Apart from the eye-shaped wood grain, this bookcase was no different from the others. She reached out and pulled the cabinet door, and as expected, it didn’t open.

”Looks like I need a key... or something else that can open the cabinet door.”

Having confirmed the location of the tea leaves, Lin Xiangjun was in a much better mood. Just then, the time was about right, so she left the study, planning to hide in the Guest room for a while.

She would wait for Angelina to wake up and go to the study to read, then she would enter the bedroom to confirm the location of the sugar cubes.

But this time, her good luck seemed to have run out.

Because as soon as she opened the study door, she locked eyes with a smiling Servant at the doorway.

She looked down and saw the Black Bow Tie on the Servant’s neck.

”Guest, what are you doing in the study? This place is not open to outsiders.”

”You have violated the rules of the tea party, I...”

”Click—”

A cold light flashed. Before the smile on the Black Bow Tie Servant’s face could fade, both sides of his body suddenly felt light. A wave of coldness came from both his shoulder blades, followed by a slowly heating sensation of pain.

He instinctively looked down.

He happened to see Lin Xiangjun skillfully packing his two arms into a plastic bag, just like packing leftovers in a plastic bag at a banquet.

Wait, were those his arms?

How could his arms be in a plastic bag? How could someone pack his arms? Was he not awake, or was he dreaming? Or had the world gone mad?

But before he could react, two more horizontal slashes followed.

One slash to the neck, one slash to the chest.

A large hole opened in his chest. He realized the pain in his arms belatedly, but just as he opened his mouth to scream, his wind-leaking neck could only emit wheezing sounds.
