A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 139 Angelina’s Tea Party 8Upon closer inspection, that was no bamboo pole; it was clearly a woman in a white nightgown, her hair disheveled, so thin she was barely recognizable.

Although a fleeting glance into the trash bag had already let Lin Xiangjun know that those Guests were unnaturally thin, bordering on being beyond the category of humans, that fleeting glance clearly lacked the impact of one staggering and stumbling toward you from across the way.

”... Lan Shenwen would be dying of envy over this figure.” Lin Xiangjun couldn’t help but exclaim.

This was the perfect high street emperor figure that Lan Shenwen had dreamed of, the one she hadn’t achieved even after drinking Binglu for two years!

Unfortunately, this high street emperor didn’t seem to have the mood to strut down the street. From afar, she spotted Lin Xiangjun, and her originally skeletal face suddenly flooded with an excitement, a thrill—like a water ghost spotting a replacement, or like a Lan Shenwen who had been starving for a month spotting a one-cent burger—a joy that could only be described as fanatical.

Her two thin, chopstick-like legs accelerated, swinging as she ran toward Lin Xiangjun.

”You! You! Do you want to eat a cookie?!”

Her hair was unkempt, and her mouth was stuffed full of food, bulging like a hamster’s. As she opened her mouth to speak, food mixed with saliva fell out with a splattering sound, landing stickily on her white nightgown and chest, blooming into clusters of red stains.

Yet she seemed not to notice, excitedly reaching out a hand toward Lin Xiangjun.

She was clutching a cookie tightly in her hand. The cookie had been so contaminated by the greasy filth on her hands that it looked like excrement, the kind that would need to be censored if it appeared on a TV show.

”You!! Do you want to eat a cookie?!!”

”It’s delicious, haha, it’s delicious! Paired with black tea, it is, it is the most delicious thing!!!”

【8. Do not accept any food offered by other Guests, especially when they are overly enthusiastic; they may just want to ”share” their fate with you.】

Lin Xiangjun certainly didn’t want to share her fate with the skeletal ”high street emperor” before her.

As the person ran, she was frantically chewing on something in her mouth. That something oozed red liquid, which flowed down the corners of her mouth in rivulets, looking like fresh blood.

As she ran closer, the inside of her outstretched arm gradually revealed itself. On her snow-white skin were one after another irregular, oval-shaped red spots, like birthmarks.

But those were not birthmarks.

Those were wounds that had been bitten off alive and had not yet healed.

Was she actually so hungry that she was eating herself?

This level was no different from a zombie.

No consciousness, only the most basic appetite; as long as it could alleviate hunger, she would show no mercy even to herself.

Unable to communicate, having lost her sanity, having even lost her identity as a human, she was not even as good as a Black Bow Tie Servant.

The person ran closer, and under her messy hair, those eyes lit up eerily with greed and excitement.

”Eat a cookie?! Eat one!!! It’s delicious, it’s delicious, I promise! Once you eat it, you won’t be able to forget it, you will always want to eat it... Hehe, you will always want to eat it! Hurry and taste it! Hurry and taste it?!”

Although the Guest had run as fast as it could, it was so frail that it couldn’t even stand steadily, let alone chase someone down to force them.

Lin Xiangjun dodged its movement, and it stumbled onto the living room cabinet from the momentum. Its bones struck the wooden furniture, emitting a muffled ”bang.”

Yet it didn’t utter a sound. Even though its arm was twisted at an abnormal angle due to the lack of fat for cushioning and the excessive force of its charge, it still maintained that fanatical joy, reaching out its hand toward Lin Xiangjun:

”Eat! Eat! Eat the cookie! This is delicious!!”

Lin Xiangjun was certain that the surface of the cabinet had originally been flat, but after it used its hands to brace itself and climb up, a palm-shaped indentation appeared on the cabinet’s surface.

Were those two greasy hands covered in food scraps coated with sulfuric acid? How could they be corrosive?!

”Is your hand the Buddha’s Palm? Wherever you press, it leaves such a deep pit—if you were to play a finger-grabbing game with someone, frankly speaking, in less than ten minutes, everyone around you would turn into Doraemon.”

The Guest didn’t understand; the Guest just stumbled toward her.

Although this Guest had hands of thunder, in reality, it wasn’t much of a threat. Apart from constantly trying to stuff that filthy cookie into her mouth, all its moves could be easily dodged.

The problem was how to deal with this inexplicable Guest.

It wasn’t much of a threat, but should it be left alone? That was obviously adding unnecessary danger to herself.

But, deal with it—how? Kill it? She still couldn’t be one hundred percent sure if it was a Guest from the previous batch or this batch.

If she killed the wrong one and cleared out this batch, would the tea party still be able to proceed as usual?

In the short two minutes that Lin Xiangjun hesitated, the Guest’s movements clearly became smoother, and its attempts to grab Lin Xiangjun became increasingly easy and accurate, even gradually becoming more agile...

”There’s no time for me to hesitate.” Lin Xiangjun thought to herself, she had to clear away this mad-dog-like Guest as soon as possible.

How to clear it away?

Killing it wouldn’t work, ignoring it wouldn’t work, and the previous tricks were all useless.

”Cookie! Cookie!!! Hurry and eat it, hurry and eat it, I won’t lie to you, I won’t lie to you! Once you eat it, you won’t be able to forget it in this lifetime! Hehe, you won’t be able to forget it in this lifetime...”

A flash of inspiration suddenly struck Lin Xiangjun.

These Guests were indeed hungry, to the point where they turned red-eyed upon seeing food.

But why would the Guest, despite having a body that was about to starve to death, not wait in its own room, but instead run all this way to the living room to feed her a cookie?

It shouldn’t know her whereabouts.

In other words, the Guest’s original goal was not to feed her a cookie; it had another purpose for coming to the living room.

After leaning back and dodging another attack from the hungry Guest, Lin Xiangjun’s gaze swept across the living room and finally landed on the door to the tea room.

That’s it, the tea room!

There was a table full of desserts on the table in there!

No wonder Angelina kept telling her to eat the snacks back then, and if she ate slowly or ate too little, her expression would immediately drop, looking as if she owed her two million—to be able to make hungry Guests flock to them like this, the things added to those desserts were definitely nothing good.

Fortunately, she hadn’t actually swallowed that strange stuff.

Otherwise... who could guarantee she wouldn’t turn into something like the hungry Guest in front of her?

Lin Xiangjun fished a small piece of ”imported” scone out of her pocket, crumbled it forcefully with her fingertips, and then threw it violently toward the bookshelf!

The direction of the bookshelf and the direction of the dining room were on a diagonal, and Lin Xiangjun and the skeletal Guest were struggling in the space between the two.

The moment Lin Xiangjun threw the scone crumbs, the Guest’s movements froze for a split second, and then, like a wild wolf spotting a meat bone, its waist twisted forcefully at an incredible angle for a half-turn, and it lunged in the direction the scone had been thrown.
