A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 36 Who Am I 35Wang Min: ”? No, what does that have to do with me? I was just following your lead!”

The two stared at each other with surprised expressions. Lin Xiangjun suddenly realized and said, ”You thought I wanted to save them?”

”No, sweetie, you’re so cute to think of such a self-sacrificing move, hahaha. I was wondering if we collect all the corpse fragments, could we get a higher instance rating?”

There were no clear rules for instance ratings, but later in the book, people already knew that those who contributed more and pieced together the main storyline more completely could get higher ratings. If they cleared it at S-rank, they could also obtain very valuable props.

Lin Xiangjun was very dissatisfied with the 128 shrimp soldiers and crab generals in her hand; she wanted better, more expensive, and more useful props.

Wang Min breathed a sigh of relief.

It was a good thing for her master to be kind, as it meant employees could get more benefits. But if her master were a saint, then the lives of employees like her would be very precarious.

Saints easily hurt those around them, and then themselves.

Thankfully, her master wasn’t one, so her happy working life was still well-guaranteed.

Having learned that there were clues inside the guard’s body, Lin Xiangjun and Wang Min discussed going directly to the Security Room to look for trouble with Patrick Star.

”I think this guard is the most dangerous one; perhaps we should leave him for last...”

Lin Xiangjun waved her hand. ”Exactly because he is the most dangerous, we must kill him first. If we leave him for last, I’m afraid he might suddenly trigger some hidden condition and have his combat power doubled. That would be when we’d really be dead.”

Wang Min felt that what Lin Xiangjun said made a lot of sense.

As expected of her master! Her considerations were so comprehensive!

The guard’s combat power was very strong; he could easily dismember people like tearing apart toast. Lin Xiangjun held a sharp knife but still felt it wasn’t enough, so she began to continuously look through her props.

Unfortunately, her props were really quite trashy; there weren’t many defensive props in total, and the highest grade was only a b-grade prop.

It would be great if she could get a better defensive prop after getting out this time.

There was no other way now; Lin Xiangjun could only reluctantly pull one out from a pile of prop cards.

【 jin baoguis chocolate candy: A one-time-use prop. After use, a layer of chocolate crust forms on the body surface, lasting for ten minutes, with a certain protective capability. A candy specially developed by Jin Duocai out of fear that his daughter would be harmed; Jin Baogui really likes it. 】

This was a C-grade one-time-use prop. If a prop was one-time-use, the rating would drop one level based on its original ability, so this prop’s defensive capability should be at the b-grade level, which wasn’t too low.

Lin Xiangjun unwrapped the candy and stuffed it into her mouth. The chocolate candy was eighty percent sweet and twenty percent bitter, the balance of sweet and bitter was just right, and it seemed to have a fruity aroma. The wonderful taste slowly melted in her mouth, and Lin Xiangjun’s eyes lit up in amazement.

It was really delicious!

It was a pity that there was only one such candy, and Lin Xiangjun felt a little regretful.

She licked her lips, watching as a layer of chocolate crust slowly wrapped around her body. She knocked on it, and it made a clanging sound; it looked quite sturdy.

Now that she had both weapons and defense, her employees had to keep up.

Not to mention Patrick Star, who wasn’t intellectually developed—she was worried it would cut off its own arms and legs if given a weapon.

But Wang Min still needed a weapon. She had a normal brain and was agile enough. The only drawback was that her body couldn’t be repaired if damaged. Lin Xiangjun planned to give her a long weapon to avoid melee combat as much as possible.

It just so happened she had a long weapon in her hand, though the grade wasn’t high. She didn’t think much of it for herself, so it was perfect to give to an employee.

Lin Xiangjun handed the prop card to Wang Min. ”Patrick Star is a lost cause. You use this. Stay further away and fight later; try not to get hurt.”

Wang Min looked as if her worldview had shattered, and she reached out to take the prop card with trembling hands.

Had she seen that correctly?

A stack of prop cards?!

The number of prop cards was catching up to two decks of playing cards, and Lin Xiangjun’s movements in flipping through the prop cards were even more stylish and swift than when she shuffled cards!

Was this what it meant to be from a wealthy family?

Wang Min lowered her head and glanced at the prop card in her hand.

【 Rong Momo’s Dream Silver Needle: A python needle from traditional Chinese medicine. If she had this needle, Rong Momo could have sent Ziwei to the afterlife with one prick. Use it; one prick, and the mute will shout, the lame will run, and the paraplegic will instantly become Bolt. 】

A b-grade prop!

She just gave it to her, just like that!

Wang Min touched that one-meter-long needle, moved to tears. In her heart, she had already called Lin Xiangjun her foster mother eight hundred times.

Mom, you don’t have to worry about your daughter anymore; your daughter is living a good life now!

Wang Min grabbed Patrick Star and hurriedly caught up with Lin Xiangjun’s pace, determined to let her master see her worth in this battle and know that her money hadn’t been spent in vain and the prop hadn’t been given for nothing!

...

The guard was sitting in the Security Room drinking tea. Seeing Lin Xiangjun and Wang Min approaching, he even revealed a kind and amiable smile, but when he opened his mouth, only three teeth remained—a strange sense of humor.

”Girls, are you going out of the residential complex?”

Lin Xiangjun shook her head and said obediently, ”Grandpa Guard, I came because I have something to give you.”

”What is it?”

Lin Xiangjun took out the wallet, and the guard’s expression suddenly became greedy as he stared through the window. As if she hadn’t seen it, she continued, ”I found this in the Garden. I think its owner must be very anxious. Grandpa, has anyone come to you looking for a wallet?”

”Yes, yes, this wallet is the one Grandpa lost. Thank you for bringing it to Grandpa!” The guard opened the window and impatiently reached out to grab the wallet, but Lin Xiangjun was standing far away, and even though he leaned half his body out, he couldn’t grab the wallet.

”Good child, quickly give the wallet to Grandpa! Grandpa has been looking for this wallet for a long time!”

Lin Xiangjun shook her head vigilantly. ”Mom said I’m not allowed to go near the complex gate, saying I’ll be kidnapped by human traffickers. Grandpa, can you come out and get it yourself?”

The guard hesitated for a moment.

He really wanted this wallet, but he hadn’t reached the point of being delirious. Right now, these two little girls hadn’t violated any rules, so he had no boost in power, and his control abilities couldn’t be used. If he went out rashly and they wanted to harm him...

He glanced at Lin Xiangjun. She was holding the wallet with both hands, looking vigilant, and even took a nervous step back after making eye contact with him.

He looked at Wang Min standing to the side. She was standing far away, so he couldn’t see her whole body, only half of her lowered head and the upper half of her dress. She didn’t look like a threat either, just a bit unfamiliar; it seemed he hadn’t seen her before.

Was this woman here when they arrived that day? The old man only remembered there were two women and three men at the time, but he really couldn’t recall what they specifically looked like.

”Just the two of you? Where are the men who were with you at the time?”

Lin Xiangjun paused for a moment and said awkwardly, ”They said they wanted to walk around the complex, so they didn’t stay with us... Grandpa, I’ll give this to you, can you tell me how to leave the complex?”

The guard revealed a look of realization.

He understood. These two women had been abandoned by those three men because they were useless, which was why they wanted to trade items with him for clues.
