After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Can’t Rashly Make an Appearance

But then again, it wasn’t surprising.

After all, she had completed two ”zero-dollar shopping” tasks in a row in the middle of the night.

On the road from the other side of Rexton Mountain,

the ”zero-dollar shopping” supply points had been densely packed.

And there had been a substantial amount of supplies.

In just a few days, she had already reached Task 40.

Pascal Paige finally brought the bus to a stop.

This was the same bus they had driven out of the scenic area.

It was now covered in dents and dings from all the collisions.

But thankfully, it was still holding up.

”Should I just go lure them away?”

Holden Shaw said, looking at the zombies surrounding the bus.

”I’m afraid you’ll just attract more on your way back,”

Nina Jacobs said.

The farther forward they went, the more zombies there were.

There was nowhere to lure these zombies to.

”But you look a little tired.”

Nina Jacobs had seemed very sleepy for the past two days.

But before he could finish speaking, flashes of fire erupted outside the bus.

Nina Jacobs had already leaped out of a window clear of zombies.

Wayne Warner was right behind her.

”I’m going too.”

Jessica Vance quickly followed.

She really loved killing zombies with Nina Jacobs.

”What are we waiting for? Let’s all go.”

Wendy Marshall figured if they waited a few more minutes, Nina Jacobs would finish off the entire horde by herself.

After spending the last few days together, they were gradually realizing just how lucky they were.

If it hadn’t been for Nina Jacobs on this journey,

they would have probably died hundreds of times over.

But they also knew they couldn’t rely on Nina Jacobs completely, so they had to use this opportunity to improve their own strength.

Holden Shaw gripped a watermelon knife. Just as a zombie was about to lunge at him, he sliced it down with lightning speed.

This was also inspired by Nina Jacobs.

The Speed Element Superpower wasn’t just for movement.

It could also be applied to weapons, and even to any action.

At least from now on, he wouldn’t only be good for running for his life.

In the distance, another horde of zombies came sprinting toward them.

Even the mutated zombies

didn’t notice the inconspicuous patch of orange-red flowing silently across the ground.

The moment their rotting feet stepped onto that orange-red patch, it was as if they had triggered a switch.

Flames instantly shot into the air.

Nina Jacobs pulled her hand back from the ground.

’This magma-like liquid flame is pretty effective. Especially against mutated zombies; they have a hard time dodging this kind of trap. Once it makes contact, the attack takes effect immediately.’

However, the Superpower within her body was also draining rapidly.

It consumed even more Superpower than the Transformed Fire Snake.

”That’s incredible,”

Pascal Paige exclaimed in awe from inside the bus.

She had to be ready to drive everyone away at a moment’s notice, so she couldn’t leave the driver’s seat.

But Nina Jacobs had also told her that as a Healer, what she needed to work on most was her physical strength and endurance.

If she ever encountered real danger, escaping and evading were more important than killing zombies.

Although Yvonne Willow was a Space Superpower User, she wasn’t idle either.

While the others were killing zombies, she kept watch and collected the Crystal Cores.

”Let’s go now while we can. There are more and more zombies up ahead.”

Nina Jacobs led the group back onto the bus.

On either side of the road outside the bus windows,

there was wasteland on one side and a newly developed residential complex on the other.

It was a typical layout for the city outskirts.

But just ahead was a private hospital.

Nina Jacobs suspected that most of these zombies had come from that private hospital.

”But we have to pass that hospital,”

Pascal Paige said as she started the bus.

It was impossible to get through without going past the private hospital.

Besides, she remembered that although the hospital was private, it had a very good reputation and was quite large.

”How strange.”

Nina Jacobs found it strange too.

On the system map this morning, this road had been clearly marked as clear.

But now it had turned yellow, indicating light congestion.

The only possibility was that the zombies that had been trapped inside the hospital had been let out.

Someone might have lured them out.

”Wait, look. There are people over there.”

Holden Shaw was also a City J local, and he had been staring in the direction of the hospital.

The plumes of smoke rising into the air probably weren’t caused by zombies.

”Circle around from the opposite direction and enter that building. I think we should hide for a bit.”

Nina Jacobs activated her ”Five Senses Enhancement” and, just as she expected, heard the sound of weapons.

She also heard the angry shouts of people arguing.

’Looks like we’ve run into another group fighting over supplies. Even if it’s not about supplies, we should wait for them to kill the zombies before we show ourselves.’

”Good point. There are only a few of us, and mostly women at that. We can’t afford to just rush in.”

Hearing this, Pascal Paige turned the steering wheel and drove in another direction.

The new housing development had never been opened to the public.

There were only a few zombies around and inside it.

Of course, it was also possible that the nearby zombies had all been drawn away by the commotion at the hospital.

After the group went to some trouble to clear out those zombies,

they shut the metal gate of the housing complex again.

Nina Jacobs chose an empty building just across the street from the hospital.

She led the others upstairs.

”If it weren’t for that hospital, this place would actually be pretty safe,”

Pascal Paige commented.

The exterior of the complex looked finished, but the interiors were all just bare shells.

But consequently, it was much cleaner than many other places.

The private hospital was just across the street.

There were indeed a lot of people at the entrance.

Even without binoculars, the group could see everything clearly just by standing behind the windowsill.

Judging by the vehicles, they looked like two different teams.

Although they were killing zombies, the tension between them was palpable.

”Good thing we didn’t go over there,”

Pascal Paige said, looking at the scene.

Not only were those people all Superpower Users, but they were also armed.

None of them looked weak.

”Wait, isn’t that them?!”

Holden Shaw still remembered the group that had visited their camp a few days ago.

He didn’t know their names, but he recognized them on sight.

”Yeah. What a coincidence,”

Nina Jacobs said with a smile.

It had only been seven or eight days, but she’d unexpectedly run into Finn Hart’s group again.

She didn’t recognize the team opposing them, though.

After focusing her ”Five Senses Enhancement” on a fixed area, she quickly overheard their conversation.

”...In that case, we’ll each take half the supplies inside!”

a man shouted loudly.

Nina Jacobs could tell it was Jordan Vaughn’s voice.

”No way! Our people just suffered heavy casualties. Even if we split it, we have to get a larger share, or our fallen brothers won’t rest in peace.”

”As if we didn’t lose anyone! Your Superpower User Alliance has a main branch in City A, and this man here is Mr. Hart, from Cen Hart’s Residence in City A. You don’t want to make things too hostile between us, do you?”

Jordan Vaughn demanded loudly after killing two zombies.

Another wave of fighting sounds followed.

The other party seemed to hesitate for a long time, then conferred in low voices for a while.

Finally, they agreed to Jordan Vaughn’s terms.

”All right, fine. Half it is. But you’d better not try any tricks. We must have the antibiotics!”

”Of course. We’ll each take half. First, let’s kill the zombies!”

Jordan Vaughn commanded the people around him.

’So they’re from the Superpower User Alliance,’ Nina thought. She remembered Jonathan Thatcher mentioning them before. ’It seems the people from the Superpower User Alliance have been in City J for a while now.’

Nina Jacobs watched the scene quietly.

’There must be a lot of medicine in that private hospital. Otherwise, neither side would be willing to stay and face so many zombies.’
