Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Escape

The others in the room stared in astonishment at the two who had suddenly appeared.

”Who are you?”

Pascal Paige finally snapped out of it.

She thought it was another man ”rewarded” by Jonathan Thatcher, coming to have his fun.

She had never seen these two before.

”We just arrived today,

but we’re planning to leave now.

Does anyone want to come with us?”

Although Nina Jacobs tried to make it sound as reasonable as possible, the others in the room found her words dreamlike and unreal.

’Leaving now.’

’Doesn’t that just mean escaping?’

”Are you kidding?

Do you have any idea how many people are guarding this place?

They have weapons, too. Trying to break out is too risky!”

It wasn’t that Pascal Paige didn’t want to leave.

It was that she knew how difficult it would be, and she was only a Healing Element Superpower User.

”Yeah, their men will probably be here any second,

you should go back upstairs and hide.

It’s over if you get caught.”

The few women who had been squatting on the floor also stood up to speak.

”I doubt they’re in any mood to come over right now.

You have two minutes. Anyone who wants to go, follow me.”

Just as she was coming down, she had already released a Little Zombie Rat into the area where the crowd was gathered.

The Little Zombie Rat had scurried through every floor upstairs.

By now, the upper floors were in utter chaos.

It was unlikely anyone would dare to come out.

Pascal Paige didn’t know what was happening upstairs.

She had originally thought it was absurd.

But Nina Jacobs’s expression was just too confident.

”I’ll go with you. I don’t want to live here anymore anyway,”

Wendy Marshall said without hesitation.

Seeing this, the other three also quickly agreed to go.

Only a few people in the corner remained silent.

”One minute left.”

Nina Jacobs glanced at the time.

Right now, Pascal Paige just looked a bit disheveled.

But both of her arms were still intact.

If Pascal Paige wasn’t willing to follow her, she wouldn’t force her.

”I’ll go with you.

If you can get us out of here successfully,

once we’re outside, no matter if we live or die, you two will be our saviors.”

Pascal Paige made up her mind.

”Are you really going too?

You’re a Healing Element Superpower User.

If you stay here, they won’t do anything to you.”

A short-haired girl tried to persuade her.

”Yeah, if you leave,

who... who will heal us in the future?”

Seeing this, another woman with a ponytail also grabbed Pascal Paige.

”What’s wrong with you?

If you want to stay, then stay. Pascal has always been so good to us,

and at a time like this, you’re only thinking of yourselves?”

Wendy Marshall, who had already decided to leave, demanded with a frown.

The woman with the ponytail shrank back, then pointed at Nina Jacobs and her companion and said defiantly:

”There are so many people guarding the outside,

how could we possibly escape?

Following those two is just a suicide mission.

Here, we have food, drink, and we can stay alive, can’t we?”

”No, I’m leaving.

I still have to find my family.

If I don’t go, I’ll never find them.”

With her mind made up, Pascal Paige walked over to Nina Jacobs.

Nina Jacobs nodded.

However, at that moment, her Five Senses Enhancement picked up an unusual sound.

”Damn it.”

After taking another look at her system map, she was certain.

The zombies on several of the surrounding roads were now converging on their location.

”What’s wrong?”

Pascal Paige clearly noticed the change in Nina Jacobs’s expression.

”We’re out of time. Everyone, keep up.”

Nina Jacobs charged straight out of the room.

The hallway was still empty.

Pascal Paige and the others showed looks of delight.

’Our luck is good today.’

’Just a little further ahead and a left turn would be the hotel exit!’

However, things never go as smoothly as imagined.

The guards at the entrance quickly spotted them.

”Stop! What are you all doing?”

A man with a flat top haircut pointed at them.

”He’s a Gold Element Superpower User, and he’s very strong,”

Pascal Paige had barely finished her warning from behind when the man was struck by Wayne Warner’s punch, his body flying straight into the wall behind him.

”It’s Pascal Paige! She’s trying to escape!”

The other guards also ran over, shouting.

Two Fireballs shot straight down the hallway, instantly hitting two of them in the chest.

Watching the two men who had been blasted through, Pascal Paige’s eyes widened.

In less than two minutes, the guards on duty were either dead or incapacitated.

’These two are so strong!’

”Kane Donovan, do me a favor

and let them go.”

Nina Jacobs hadn’t expected Holden Shaw to show up.

”Holden Shaw, who the hell do you think you are?

Do you a favor?

Thatcher and his men are on their way. If you don’t get out of my way, I’ll cut you down too!”

Kane Donovan was also a Strength Element Superpower User. Seeing that Holden Shaw wouldn’t move, he grabbed his axe and swung at him!

BOOM!

A Fireball struck Kane Donovan right in a vital spot.

”Go!”

Wayne Warner pried open the locked hotel doors with his bare hands.

Holden Shaw froze for a moment, then followed them out.

”It’s already dark and dangerous outside.

Where are you trying to escape to?”

Holden Shaw asked urgently.

”Do you have car keys?”

Nina Jacobs asked, looking at the several cars parked nearby.

This wasn’t a good time for her to pull the SUV out of her storage space.

”Give me ten seconds.”

Before Holden Shaw could even finish his sentence, he vanished in an instant.

A few seconds later, he reappeared with car keys and unlocked one of the vehicles.

The night was deep and should have been quiet.

But the group could now hear faint sounds from all around them.

The hotel was surrounded by a thick, impenetrable darkness.

It was as if taking a single step forward meant plunging into an abyss.

Meanwhile, Nina Jacobs had already gotten into the car quickly.

”Did you guys hear something?”

Wendy Marshall couldn’t help but ask after getting in the car.

”I did. The zombies are coming,”

Nina Jacobs answered directly.

And in huge numbers.

”Zombies?

Then we should hurry back to the hotel.

At a time like this, they’ll probably deal with the zombies first.

Once the zombies are gone, I’ll figure out a way to get you out.”

Holden Shaw said.

In his view, it was safer inside the hotel.

”Going back means certain death.”

’Better to fight for a chance at survival now.’

”I’m not going back!

I’d rather die than go back!

I’d rather become a zombie! At least then I could eat their flesh and drink their blood!”

Yvonne Willow said.

Compared to the daily humiliation she endured, she would rather embrace the zombies.

”Don’t say such depressing things.

Rexton Mountain is right behind us. I think if we escape toward the mountain,

we probably won’t run into the zombies.”

Pascal Paige seemed very familiar with the area around Rexton Mountain.

Nina Jacobs agreed with Pascal Paige.

Because the system map showed that all surrounding roads were blocked.

Only the road section leading to Rexton Mountain behind them was marked yellow.

This meant it was the least congested route with the fewest zombies.

”Everyone, hold on tight in a bit,”

Nina Jacobs said.

She didn’t plan on stopping; she would ram through anything she could.

However, there were even more zombies on this road than she had imagined.

ROAR!

ROOOOAR—

After hitting several zombies, a tall, mutated zombie blocked the car.

”It’s a Strength Element-mutated zombie!”

’We’re finished,’ Holden Shaw thought.

There were only a few of them, and a Strength Element-mutated zombie of this level could destroy them and their vehicle completely.

BOOM!

A Fireball flew toward the Strength Element zombie.

But it was blocked by a discarded billboard sign.

That was a Gold Element-mutated zombie. By now, several zombies had surrounded the car. Pascal Paige stared in despair at the rotten faces pressed against the windows.

’So, escaping was just another kind of hell...’

”Can you drive? You take the wheel.”

Nina Jacobs brought the car to a stop and opened the sunroof.

’The only way out now is a quick fight. I have to clear the zombies in front of us before we can escape.’

”Drive?”

Only then did Pascal Paige realize that Nina Jacobs seemed to have no intention of giving up at all.
