My Youth Began With Him

Jing Zhixin also had tears rolling around in his eyes, almost about to drop out…

He wasn’t someone who cried a lot, but he couldn’t hold it in since his sister’s words were so moving.

Even Qin Chu was a bit moved by Huo Mian. He knew of Huo Mian’s familial background, and she knew that Yang Meirong wasn’t her biological mother.

However she still loved her mother, and no matter how arrogant or how calm Huo Mian was on the surface, she was still a flesh and blood human being.  U.pdated b.y

Especially deep down inside, she was kind, like all the women in this world.

She knew to be grateful, and she knew that raising a child was more difficult than anything. Even though she wasn’t connected by blood with her mother, she would never be able to pay her mother back for raising her.

“Where did you learn all those silly sayings? Seriously… let me check if there’s still more soup, I’ll get you another bowl.” After Yang Meirong spoke, she got up and walked towards the kitchen.

“Sis, look at what you’ve done, you made Mom cry.” Jing Zhixin was a little choked up too.

If Yang Meirong wasn’t her biological mother, then this meant that Zhixin wasn’t her biological brother either.

However, Huo Mian still adored him. Watching him grow up all these years, their relationship was thicker than blood.

Just then, Huo Mian received a Wechat red packet…

She opened it and saw that it was from Huang Yue, who sent Huo Mian 88.88 Yuan. It wasn’t a lot of money, but it was still a very nice gesture.

“Happy birthday, Senior Sister! I wish that you will always be the badass you are and live mightily,” Huang Yue messaged her.

“Thanks Yue, but… how did you know about my birthday?”

“Oh… I saw your hospital profile before, and I remembered it.” Huang Yue gave a blurred excuse.

“Oh, I thought you found out when you looked at Zhixin’s post on your WeChat friend circle,” Huo Mian said with another layer of meaning.

Zhixin just posted in his WeChat friend circle, attaching a picture of Huo Mian wearing the pink sweater, under which he then wrote, “Happy 24th birthday, Sis.”

“Ah? Really? I wasn’t paying attention. I’m at work now, and haven’t had the chance to look through WeChat yet,” Huang Yue explained.

“Okay, sure, then I won’t keep you. Let me buy you food sometime.”

“Sure, Senior Sister!”

After Huo Mian spoke with Huang Yue, her heart felt somewhat heavy.

Huang Yue clearly saw it in Zhixin’s friend circle post, but she wouldn’t admit it and said that it was from the hospital profile.

This excuse was too far-fetched; the truth was, there wasn’t anything wrong with admitting that she saw Zhixin’s post.

However, she tried to hide it, which meant that there was… something between these two.

“Zhixin.”

“Yes?”

“How are things going with Huang Yue?” Huo Mian asked nonchalantly while her mom wasn’t around.

“Huh? Why would you ask about her all of a sudden?”

“Nothing, I just wanted to ask.”

“Not much, we are just… WeChat friends, and occasionally talk to each other when we’re both free.” Jing Zhixin didn’t seem to want to tell his sister the truth either.

“Really? I recently met a patient at South Side from a decent family, he is a really nice guy too. I want to introduce him to Huang Yue, what do you think?” Huo Mian stared at Jing Zhixin as she spoke.

Zhixin was only 19 after all and hadn’t been exposed to society, so he still couldn’t hide his emotions very well and was unable to put on a poker face.

His expressions slightly changed after he heard what she said, and then he forcefully laughed, “Really? That would be great, you should tell her.”

Huo Mian quietly looked at Zhixin’s face and didn’t say anything else.

After lunch, they left the old house, and although Yang Meirong still wasn’t happy to see Qin Chu around, she didn’t chase him away either, which Huo Mian thought was already a very big step forward.

“Zhixin isn’t young anymore, there’s nothing wrong with him being in a relationship. Why did you interrogate him like a criminal and force him like that?” Qin Chu asked Huo Mian as he drove.
