My Youth Began With Him

“I’m hoping you can come back to the Huo Corporation and become a board member, which will naturally make you one of the inheritors. By then, you would play a decisive role, and your father would have to take your words and demands into consideration. Me, on the other hand – I’m not hoping for much, I just wanted you to help me transfer Siyi back from the Philippines.”

“Sorry, I won’t be able to help much.”

“Of course I wouldn’t ask you to help us for free. I will give you a million yuan after our plan proves to be successful.” To Shen Jiani, it was an big investment indeed.

Shen Jiani pulled out a brocade box from her bag before Huo Mian had a chance to say anything.

“What is this?” Huo Mian questioned.

“It’s an OMEGA watch, the latest ladies’ model. I’m giving you this watch as a sincere gesture, it’s worth 188,000 yuan.” Shen Jiani pushed the brocade box towards Huo Mian.

Huo Mian sneered. Looks like the mother and daughter were putting down huge investments, with the money and watch. ( Updated by BOX NOVEL.COM)

It certainly seemed like Huo Siqian had been playing with them too hard, forcing them into a corner.

“Excuse me, but I really can’t help you guys. You should remember that I’ve already publicly announced that I would never return to the Huo family.”

“That’s not a problem at all, your father doesn’t mind that sort of thing. After all, your kinship is bound by blood.”

For a moment, Huo Mian was about to spill the truth – She was not Huo Zhenghai’s daughter. But of course, now was not the time. The truth was often involved with many other interests.

“It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t mind, because I mind. I do not want to return, so I can’t help you, my apologies.”

Upon saying the last word, Huo Mian stood up to leave, never once glancing at the watch…

Shen Jiani’s complexion became wary; it took her by surprise that Huo Mian rejected her so directly, barely taking any time to think it through.

Seeing the situation, Huo Yanyan could bear no more. So, she stood up and did what she did best. “Hey! Do you even know how to spell the word ‘appreciation’? Don’t blame me for not warning you that bad days lay ahead for you!”

“Don’t mess with me, or I will make sure the days ahead of you will be difficult ones too,” Huo Mian scolded, glancing coldly at Huo Yanyan.

She disliked Huo Yanyan, from the bottom of her heart, very much like the way she disliked He Man.

If Huo Yanyan ever crossed the line, she would most definitely teach her a lesson…

“Mom, I told you it would be a waste of time to come here. The b*tch doesn’t even appreciate it. I heard she’s been having an affair with Su Yu, of course she wouldn’t be interested in our offering now that she’s climbed up a high branch.”

“We needed to try, despite knowing it would fail. What if she said ‘yes’? Wouldn’t we have just one more option? You get anxious too quickly, and Siyi is just like you. You two didn’t take after me at all.”

Shen Jiani sighed. She had been savvy her whole life, but somehow she gave birth to two idiots.

Back when she was in her prime, she outwitted all of Huo Zhenghai’s lovers and even faced Jiang Hong, Huo Zhenghai’s wife, head-on. Now, she was still at it, trying to outwit Huo Siqian for her children. When would she be able to take a break?

The road to marrying rich often looked glamorous on the outside, but only those who actually walked down that path will understand how difficult it was.

No one else knew how cruel in-fightings were, other than those who’ve experienced it.

“Come with me…”

“Mom, where are we going?”

“The slum.”

“The slum? Why are we going there? It’s dirty and disgusting, and smells terrible,” Huo Yanyan complained.

“We’re going to go and look for Huo Mian’s mother. Perhaps we can convince her.”

Shen Jiani sat in Huo Yanyan’s Porsche 911. It was very attention-grabbing as the luxurious car parked in front of the courtyard entrance.

Yang Meirong was sitting in the courtyard washing blankets. Her expression changed in a flash when she took notice of Shen Jiani.

“Sis… it’s been a while. I hope you are well.” Shen Jiani smiled.

“What are you doing here?” Yang Meirong glared at Shen Jiani and asked without much patience in her voice.
