You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

325: Section 325However, at that time, no one within Dota noticed this.

And while Dota’s bought hot search was being mocked by netizens, a suddenly appearing League of Legends hot search once again elevated League of Legends’ popularity to a new level.

The content of this hot search was very simple: it was about the price of League of Legends’ internal test codes these past few days.

Under normal circumstances, such an event actually wouldn’t make it onto the hot search, as many popular games that had internal tests before had gone through the stage of internal test code transactions, which is nothing special.

The reason League of Legends’ internal test codes could make it onto a hot search was for one reason only: the price.

The qualification for League of Legends’ internal test codes had been continuously skyrocketing these past two days due to the immense popularity of League of Legends itself.

Within a few hours of the Crimson-Blood Zed video appearing, the price of League of Legends internal test codes had already increased from twenty yuan to several hundred yuan.

As time passed, after four days, due to the continued consumption of League of Legends internal test codes, it had become quite difficult to purchase League of Legends internal test codes now; major trading platforms had almost no stock.

Even if there was, the price had reached an astonishing level.

And the title of this hot search was: ”League of Legends Internal Test Code Price Breaks Ten Thousand!”

Currently, on the few remaining platforms still selling League of Legends internal test codes, the qualification for a League of Legends internal test code had already exceeded ten thousand.

This price, let alone in Yan Country, has never been seen even globally!

Although still in internal testing, the popularity of this game has indeed exceeded everyone’s expectations; while this price also has reasons for malicious speculation by many merchants, being able to be hyped to this price already proves many things.

Because the title of this hot search was too shocking, it immediately attracted a large number of user clicks in a short period.

Not long after, this hot search even directly rushed to the top spot on the weibo hot search!

It should be noted that not long ago, Dota’s hot search had just disappeared when League of Legends’ hot search appeared, instantly putting the comparison between the two on the table.

Dota’s paid hot search was cursed by countless netizens, while the price of League of Legends’ internal test code directly broke ten thousand; in comparison, Dota’s popularity at this time was not on the same level as League of Legends.

Countless netizens were also shocked by this price.

”??? Is that true or false? Has the price of this thing been hyped up so high?”

”Good thing I bought it immediately back then; it only cost twenty yuan, but now it’s actually ten thousand.”

”A price of ten thousand might not find buyers, but it’s true that you can’t buy League of Legends internal test codes now; at this point, probably only some streamers are willing to spend that much money to buy it.”

”It’s only two weeks, right? The public test will begin ten days after the test is complete; do you all have to be so exaggerated?”

”I can’t understand the world of the rich.”

”Si Cong: I bought it.”

”Other foreign servers have even fewer testers, and test codes ran out days ago; those who want to go to foreign servers can give up; just wait, anyway, the public test isn’t far off.”

The appearance of this hot search undoubtedly pushed users’ anticipation for League of Legends to the limit; countless gamers wanted to see what exactly made this game capable of selling an internal test code for tens of thousands.

Originally, before, the Crimson-Blood Zed counter-kill video didn’t make all players feel the urge to play this game, but this hot search directly piqued their curiosity.

And in reality, Wang Mo could have conducted the game test without using internal test codes; he only needed to bind the test qualification to WeChat, and this situation of test qualifications being traded would not occur, as few people would be willing to sell their WeChat.

The reason Wang Mo chose to use internal test codes was precisely to allow test codes to be traded among players; confident in the quality of the game itself, the price of the internal test codes was bound to skyrocket.

They could leverage this approach to conduct a large-scale promotion, greatly piquing players’ curiosity about the game.

After all, a test qualification that costs ten thousand yuan is indeed extremely attractive to players.

The phrase ”Why?” can greatly increase the download count of League of Legends after its public release.

The reason Wang Mo conducted large-scale promotion during the game’s internal test period was simply because he planned to make League of Legends surpass Dota on the very first day of its public release!

Chapter 250: Penguin Group’s Backup Plan, League of Legends Advances Public Test Time!

One week after the League of Legends internal test began, inside Penguin Group, within the Dota department.

”Mr. Ma, currently, the popularity and attention of League of Legends far exceed our Dota, and most players who participated in the League of Legends internal test say that this game has the potential to surpass Dota.”

”Should we do something?”

In Mr. Ma’s office, Li Wenqiu was saying something to him.

Listening to Li Wenqiu’s words, Mr. Ma’s face was also a bit pale.

He took a deep breath and shook his head.

”We are just Dota’s agents; we cannot make any changes to the game’s content.

If we want to do something, it can only be through events.

But League of Legends is currently just an internal test game; to launch a counter-event for Dota, the currently most popular game globally, because of an internal test game? Other game companies would laugh themselves to death if they heard that!”

After speaking, Mr. Ma silently pondered for a moment.

”For now, don’t act rashly.

The popularity of League of Legends came quickly, so it will surely fade quickly; it won’t last long.

Didn’t we invite the top players from Dota’s Yan Country server ladder to test League of Legends before? They all felt that League of Legends’ gameplay was inferior to Dota.

I trust their judgment.”

Listening to this, Li Wenqiu hesitated for a moment.

”But Mr. Ma,”

Li Wenqiu paused.

”This isn’t a matter of gameplay.

Firstly, setting aside whether those people at the time answered with ulterior motives or objectively, we now find that Dota’s biggest problem is that its spectating appeal is far, far inferior to League of Legends.

After the first hot search for League of Legends appeared, I immediately commissioned a survey, and almost all young people who don’t play games found League of Legends’ operations exciting and easy to understand, while Dota, in their eyes, seemed very simple and uninteresting.”

Li Wenqiu took a deep breath.

”I remember that when I first discovered this situation, I already reported it to you.”

Mr. Ma also sighed softly and nodded.

”I remember too.

But this difference in spectating appeal exists fundamentally; Dota’s underlying logic and design philosophy simply prevent it from matching League of Legends’ spectating appeal.

And we are not Dota’s developers; in terms of spectating appeal, we simply cannot make any improvements.

However, spectating appeal will only gain a lot of attention for the game in the direction of live streaming; to retain players, it still depends on gameplay, and in this aspect, I still have confidence in Dota.”

After speaking, seeing Li Wenqiu’s hesitant demeanor, Mr. Ma couldn’t help but frown.

”I don’t usually see you so hesitant; you have something else you want to say, don’t you?”

Li Wenqiu scratched his head.

”I still can’t hide anything from your eyes, Mr. Ma.”
