The Frail Guide Who Devoured an Entire Pollution Zone

Chapter 145: Chapter 145: The Rampaging Mutant

In the span of a single stunned moment, the berserk Mutant had devoured the other Mutant before it could even react.

But clearly, one Mutant wasn’t enough to fill its stomach. The berserk Mutant immediately started looking around again, then rushed toward the partition of another room.

Seeing this, the smile vanished from Shen Yan’s face. He strode to the wall and pressed a button.

HISS!

The moment the button was pressed, the sound of leaking gas suddenly filled the room. In an instant, a thick smoke permeated the air.

Xu Qingsui guessed the smoke was some kind of sedative. The moment the smoke was released, the berserk Mutant’s movements slowed.

Its body swayed, showing signs of collapsing.

But just as the tension on Shen Yan’s face began to ease, the berserk Mutant shook its head violently.

It was as if it had shaken the fog from its mind, and its body stood firm once more.

After returning to normal, the berserk Mutant once again locked onto the partition. With its enormous body swaying, it charged straight at it.

Seeing this, Shen Yan’s expression grew grim again. He picked up a nearby receiver and said, ”Activate Level One Alert. Prepare to terminate the test subject.”

Watching Shen Yan go through his procedures, Xu Qingsui realized something. He appeared confident in the facility’s design, but in reality, he wasn’t entirely sure of it. That must be why he’d prepared so many contingencies.

After Shen Yan gave the order, several holes suddenly appeared in the room’s walls. From Xu Qingsui’s angle, she couldn’t see what was inside them.

She only heard a few explosions, then something shot toward the berserk Mutant, leaving an afterimage.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The impacts triggered a series of secondary explosions, and the resulting smoke once again concealed the berserk Mutant.

Shen Yan stared intently at the site of the explosions, not daring to relax for a second.

Although Xu Qingsui didn’t know what kind of attack had just occurred, she could feel Shen Yan’s heavy aura, and her own heart grew heavy as well.

The smoke from the explosions was slow to dissipate. They could only listen intently, trying to sense what was happening behind the thick screen of smoke.

The room fell utterly silent.

Xu Qingsui guessed the berserk Mutant had been killed, but she hadn’t heard the sound of it collapsing to the ground.

’Could that thing still be unharmed?’

Just as she was thinking this, a roar echoed from inside the room.

A huge figure suddenly charged out of the thick smoke, its body covered in mottled bloodstains.

It failed!

The berserk Mutant was still alive, and it was even more enraged.

Its massive body rushed straight for the opposite partition. With a tremendous crash, the partition was knocked down again.

Spotting the Mutant on the bed, the berserk Mutant charged forward, flipped the large bed over, snapped the chains, and grabbing the Mutant in its hands, shoved it into its mouth.

Another Mutant had senselessly become food for the berserk Mutant.

The berserk Mutant still showed no signs of stopping. It tossed aside the bone fragments in its hand and once again locked onto the next room’s partition.

At this point, Shen Yan could no longer just stand by.

”Guide Xu, please wait here for a moment. I’m going in to handle the situation.”

”But your body...” When Shen Yan went berserk, he was no less dangerous than the Mutant inside.

His condition was especially unique. If he went berserk before the Mutant was dealt with, the danger would double.

Shen Yan gave a helpless, bitter smile. ”No one else can control this situation. It has to be me.”

”I will do my best to restrain myself. If I lose control, I’ll have to trouble you to guide me.”

There was no other choice. Xu Qingsui could only nod, swallowing the words of caution that were on the tip of her tongue.

Shen Yan smiled at her, then turned and walked out the door.

As he turned, Xu Qingsui noticed him take out an elixir and put it in his mouth.

Seeing this, Xu Qingsui guessed it must also be an elixir to suppress his berserk state. She just didn’t know how effective it was, or how long it would last.

After Shen Yan left, he soon appeared inside the room.

The moment he entered, the berserk Mutant seemed to sense him, stopping its actions to look at him.

Shen Yan took a deep breath. With a flick of his hands, two longswords slid from his sleeves into his grasp.

He gave the swords a casual flourish. His perfectly tailored suit burst apart, revealing the restlessly stirring red patterns on his skin.

Whether it was due to the longswords or the elixir he had taken beforehand, a portion of the berserk aura surrounding him split off and flowed into the blades in his hands.

Seeing this, Xu Qingsui couldn’t help but click her tongue in amazement. ’Those two longswords must be treasure-grade weapons.’

Sensing Shen Yan’s aura, the berserk Mutant roared and charged, looking like it wanted to swallow him whole as well.

Shen Yan wielded his twin swords, sweeping and blocking. Several waves of Sword Qi flew out at once.

The formless Sword Qi was tinged with Shen Yan’s berserk aura, giving it a faint red glow.

The Sword Qi struck the berserk Mutant first, instantly tearing its flesh and sending blood flying.

The berserk Mutant’s body froze for a brief moment.

But that was all. Smelling the scent of blood, it immediately entered an even more frenzied state than before.

As if it couldn’t feel pain, it roared and charged at Shen Yan again.

Shen Yan’s expression changed slightly. He swung his longswords again, each red-tinged wave of Sword Qi leaving a gash on the berserk Mutant’s body, drawing more blood.

But it failed to stop the creature’s advance. It didn’t even falter for a moment like it had initially.

Sweat beaded on Shen Yan’s forehead. His growing impatience agitated the unstable factors he was suppressing, and the red patterns on his skin began to spread.

Although the elixir could temporarily suppress the turmoil within him, as he continuously attacked and drew upon his internal power, the unstable factors were also stirred up.

If this continued, it wouldn’t be long before he entered his own berserk state.

Soon, the berserk Mutant was within range of his longswords. The previous Sword Qi had only been able to wound it, failing to achieve maximum effect.

’Now for the true power of the longswords. If even this isn’t enough...’

Shen Yan didn’t dare to think any further. He gripped his longswords tightly, veins as thick as chopsticks bulging on the backs of his hands.

As the berserk Mutant loomed before him, Shen Yan raised his longswords high and thrust them forward fiercely.

The two longswords plunged into the berserk Mutant’s chest as if slicing through tofu, meeting no resistance as they sank into its body.

The tips of the swords pierced through the Mutant’s body, emerging from its back.

The berserk Mutant finally stopped moving, its eyes staring blankly at its chest.

But the stunned Mutant actually raised its hands again, grabbed the exposed blades, and forcibly pulled the swords that had impaled it clean out of its body.
