The Frail Guide Who Devoured an Entire Pollution Zone

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: The Irascible Shen Yan

With a feeling of disbelief, Xu Qingsui still looked toward Shen Yan.

In her peripheral vision, two more figures were sent flying, and the remaining guards also made their move.

Shen Yan was no slower than the Mutant, and in an instant, he had inserted himself between the creature and the Sentinel.

Shen Yan flexed his arms, and his suit instantly shredded into pieces, scattering across the ground.

Seeing his arms, Xu Qingsui suddenly noticed thick, worm-like veins bulging on them.

Blood-red markings almost instantly covered his arms, spreading to his collarbones.

Xu Qingsui frowned slightly. ’Something is wrong with Shen Yan!’

Take Lu Jingyu, for example. He usually had to go through a battle before his berserk state was triggered.

But Shen Yan was on the verge of going berserk just as he was making his move. This was clearly not right.

At that moment, the two guards who had acted later also reached the Mutant.

They were the first to block the path between Shen Yan and the Mutant, launching an attack on the creature.

But their speed was clearly no match for it. The moment they struck, the Mutant vanished from before their eyes.

A glint flashed behind Shen Yan’s rimless glasses. With a flicker of movement, he appeared beside one of the guards.

He snatched at the empty air, and a piercing shriek rang out from nowhere.

As Shen Yan yanked outward, the Mutant was dragged out of thin air.

The Mutant’s wrist, caught in Shen Yan’s grasp, was already severely twisted as the creature struggled violently.

Despite the Mutant’s agitation, Shen Yan’s expression remained unchanged. His hand gripped the Mutant’s wrist, pinning it like a vice.

But in just those few moments, the markings on his collarbones had already spread to his neck.

A blood-red mist was already clouding his eyes, and a fine sheen of cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He was clearly on the verge of going berserk.

He was going berserk far too quickly, much faster than the normal process. Xu Qingsui was increasingly certain that something was very wrong with his condition.

While Shen Yan had the Mutant restrained, several guards rushed forward together, plunging various close-combat weapons into the creature’s body at the same time.

Blood flowed down the hilts of the weapons, and the rampaging Mutant gradually weakened.

With the Mutant stopped, the matter should have ended there.

The Mutant that had rendered the guards powerless was, for Shen Yan, a problem he could solve in the blink of an eye.

Seeing this, Xu Qingsui found it even harder to think about the guards who had already been sacrificed.

If Shen Yan had acted sooner, they wouldn’t have had to die in vain.

This scene left a deep and dark impression of Shen Yan on Xu Qingsui.

But just then, spattering blood landed on Shen Yan’s face.

In the next second, the veins on Shen Yan’s forehead bulged, and the beads of sweat there seemed to experience intense heat, instantly evaporating.

When the guards saw this, they all looked panicked. Their agitation was even greater than when the Mutant had been on its rampage.

”Quick, give the boss the potion!”

One guard shouted loudly, while the others who could still move rushed forward, trying to restrain Shen Yan.

The guard who had shouted hastily pulled a porcelain vial from his coat and tipped out a black elixir.

Several of them strained with all their might, trying to get the elixir into Shen Yan’s mouth.

But just as the elixir reached Shen Yan’s lips, his whole body convulsed. The several guards pinning him down were sent flying.

The guard holding the elixir was the only one not touching Shen Yan, yet he was thrown the farthest.

He flew backward like a kite with a broken string and slammed heavily onto the ground.

The porcelain vial in his hand fell, and the elixir rolled far away.

He barely managed to lift his eyelids and lock onto the elixir’s position, then struggled to crawl toward it.

But with just a slight movement, he spat a mouthful of blood several meters.

Then his gaze began to dim, and his weakened body collapsed back onto the ground.

The sudden turn of events left Xu Qingsui confused.

But she was certain that something was definitely wrong with Shen Yan.

Besides the guard with the elixir, the condition of the others was not looking good either.

But even so, every guard who could still move struggled to press forward once more.

Aaaargh...

A long, drawn-out roar pulled Xu Qingsui’s attention back.

Shen Yan had gone completely berserk. His nostrils flared as he locked onto a guard and charged.

At this point, Xu Qingsui could no longer worry about her opinion of Shen Yan. She shot forward, rushing to his side.

She grabbed Shen Yan’s wrist. He sensed it and immediately swung his arm—now bulging with veins and looking several times thicker—toward her.

Catching Shen Yan’s movement in her peripheral vision, Xu Qingsui’s heart leaped into her throat.

But she gritted her teeth, not daring to dodge. Instead, she raised her other hand and reached for Shen Yan’s chest.

The moment her hand touched Shen Yan, his large hand was already beside her ear.

She didn’t dare to move, hastily channeling her Spiritual Power to enter Shen Yan’s body.

Shen Yan’s palm landed on Xu Qingsui’s face, but in the next second, all the force drained away, and it came to rest gently on her cheek.

Xu Qingsui raced against time. At the very last moment, her spirit body successfully entered Shen Yan’s Sea of Consciousness.

Red!

Upon entering his Sea of Consciousness, only one word remained in Xu Qingsui’s mind.

Before her eyes, all around her, was a world of crimson.

There was even a red liquid constantly raining down from the sky.

After looking around, she started rubbing her eyes.

She was worried the surrounding crimson would hurt them.

And just by standing there, she felt a violent aura pressing down on her, making her feel agitated and irritable.

[Host, please be careful. This Sentinel’s Sea of Consciousness has been contaminated by berserk energy. The situation is dire. The fact that he can still control himself and not go berserk easily is already a remarkable feat.]

The Golden Octopus, feeling the disturbance, voluntarily appeared to warn Xu Qingsui.

”In a situation like his, can he still be saved? Can he be properly soothed?”

Since the Golden Octopus had said as much, Xu Qingsui naturally didn’t doubt it.

But when she remembered that this was the bond partner it had matched for her, she started to panic.

’He’s already in this state, can he really be soothed?’

’If soothing him is impossible, I’ll have to get the Golden Octopus to match me with a new Sentinel so my progress isn’t affected.’

[Of course. Even a completely berserk Sentinel can be soothed. It just takes more spiritual power and time to do it thoroughly.]

[As a Super Guide, there is no one the Host cannot soothe. So, the Host should just do what needs to be done.]

After saying its piece, the Golden Octopus disappeared again. Xu Qingsui had seen through it by now. The damn seafood loved to put on airs; if it didn’t want to say something, she definitely wouldn’t be able to get it out of it.

Xu Qingsui stopped wasting time on it. If he could be soothed, then she would soothe him. She would cross that bridge when she came to it. If she really ran into an insurmountable problem, she would find it again.

Having made up her mind, Xu Qingsui surveyed her surroundings and continued to release her spiritual power.
