Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1108: Chapter 1106: Dragon Summit Inn (30)

Under the gaze of two demigods, Sunny didn’t seem to be under much pressure.

“Unfortunately, this is a question I really can’t answer.”

The next moment, she naturally shook her head.

“I was just sitting in the store, when suddenly I felt an irresistible force. It took complete control over my will, and by the time I came to my senses, I was already here.”

After careful consideration, Sunny’s chosen strategy was surprisingly to tell the truth.

“Considering the dangers in this place, I’ve been hiding all along the way. Thankfully, Mr. Lu was willing to let me stay here; otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to last until the granting of blessings is over.”

“I really have no interest in anything here.”

An irresistible force?

This excuse clearly wouldn’t even get you a sick note.

As a renowned demigod, Kelson, of course, wouldn’t accept it easily.

With towering blue hair and electrifying eyes, he coldly stared at the owner of the quirky little shop, without rushing to speak.

Faced with such scrutiny, she displayed all the tension of a young person who had taken the wrong path, biting her lip and hardly daring to breathe, afraid the next moment she’d be struck down by lightning.

“Is this also what she told Mr. Lu?”

The standoff lasted a whole five seconds before Kelson finally reacted, but his response was to Fu Qian.

“Of course, because this is also the first time I’m hearing it.”

Fu Qian’s reply was smooth as silk.

“Didn’t I just say I also want to know?”

“You let her stay here without asking what the situation was?”

“What’s the problem? Your way of coming in wasn’t exactly polite either.”

…

“Either way, this explanation is far too crude. Considering her suspicious behavior, Mr. Lu wouldn’t mind if I take her away, right?”

Although temporarily at a loss for words and with no interest in quibbling over politeness, Kelson straightforwardly made his request.

Of course, how much of this was genuine interest in the person and how much was a test of Fu Qian’s attitude, was not too easy to say.

Without a doubt, Sunny’s gaze followed suit, appearing extremely nervous at the prospect of being taken away to face severe punishment.

“Given my relationship with Demigod Kelson, of course, there is no problem.”

Unfortunately, in the spotlight, Fu Qian made a very decisive gesture.

Really let me take her away?

This reaction was clearly unexpected by Kelson, who glanced at Sunny with evident surprise. Her expression visibly fell, but she clenched her teeth, not daring to say another word.

“Madam Sunny’s statement is done. Now it’s time for you to make a choice. So… have you decided, Lord Kelson?”

Seemingly amused by the reactions of both parties, Fu Qian rested his hand under his mask, supporting his chin, and asked Kelson in an odd tone.

“This choice won’t offer an opportunity for regret.”

What decision—

Almost immediately after the question, Kelson understood the implication of the inquiry.

The underlying message was that if he could not find his target, taking a person from Fu Qian would be his only chance.

Regardless if it was a twisted sense of humor, Fu Qian had mentioned earlier that the insect he was seeking was also his target, and it had to be alive.

And this meant one very likely problem they would encounter: in a scenario where each relies on their own abilities, what if he actually manages to catch the creature first?

After all the effort, he certainly couldn’t just give up.

The same was true for the other party; this person was someone who had dared to take action against him and Sybil directly. The name Siren meant nothing before him.

Most crucially, Kelson didn’t feel confident he could win.

The methods this person showed last time left a deep impression.

If it really came to a fight, he might escape with his life, but the fate of the other Sirens would be uncertain.

How to deal with that possibility was something Kelson had been pondering since earlier, but unfortunately, he had no great ideas.

Surprisingly, Mr. Lu had just offered him an answer — allowing him to take a person from his grasp, with no second chance.

If he still wanted to proceed, he would have to pay an unimaginable price.

The terms were not too harsh. Should he accept?

While his thoughts suddenly cleared, Kelson also felt like he was in the precarious situation of making a bet.

He had just been relieved to think he would remain motionless, but under such circumstances, suspicious individuals were unexpectedly delivering themselves to his doorstep.

In his view, some color had returned to Sunny’s face, as if she also understood the hidden message and knew there was still a slight chance for her.

…

Regardless, this woman couldn’t be the same entity from earlier.

But they were obviously related, an important clue.

Should he use this chance?

Kelson scrutinized Sunny with narrowed eyes, finding it difficult to decide.

And on the Golden Throne, that figure who seemed even more aloof than before.

Although his expression was hidden by the mask, one could still feel his amusement towards the difficult choice at hand, apparently appreciating the spectacle.

As a demigod, of course, he didn’t like being the subject of mockery.

But according to Kelson’s understanding of this person, the fact that he could even offer such terms was already quite generous, and forcing him to make further concessions was nearly impossible.

Time was abundant, and it wasn’t worth wasting this opportunity on a character who even had assets in the Wasteland.

“May I reserve the right to make this choice?”

Kelson finally made up his mind.

“Of course you can!”

Like a vexing host from a quiz show, Fu Qian’s voice was exaggerated, taunting in tone.

“But are you sure you don’t want to think it over again?”

“I’m sure.”

Without wishing to utter another word, Kelson’s eyes gleamed as he slowly surveyed his surroundings.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

Without further delay, under the watchful gaze of a relieved Sunny, Kelson turned and walked away.

But just then, in this dilapidated hall, a clear, cold white light suddenly flickered.

Was that… a tail?

In the midst of this sudden change, Kelson immediately halted and looked toward the source of the light.

Under one of the broken windows, an ephemeral, immaculate tail was emerging from the Void, swaying slightly.

Where it passed, it seemed to emanate intangible chill frost.

And on the other end of the tail, a familiar figure stood at the position of the nearest broken window, frozen on the spot.

Hmm?

In that instant, Kelson’s gaze sharpened, containing his shock. Tangles of electric arcs burst forth in his hand directly.

The figure who reacted at the same time crashed into the sealed window. Amidst a cry of pain, it was bounced straight back.

“What an interesting problem.”

With an electric cage surrounding the entire hall, Kelson’s mood was unprecedently cheerful.

“I think I know which one to choose now.”
