Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1107: Chapter 1105: Dragon Summit Inn (29)

Fu Qian’s tone of inquiry was so calm, it was as if he was discussing someone outside the situation, such that Ah Long and Sunny didn’t seem to feel any awkwardness.

Instead, what replaced it was tension.

At least from Sunny’s expression, it was clear she was reluctant to answer that question.

“Although I don’t know the specifics of your communication, there’s no doubt that your presence makes Kelson quite wary.”

However, after a brief consideration, they quickly came to terms with reality, and Sunny slowly began to speak.

“While your performance outside is indeed astounding, theoretically speaking, dealing with you should be easier than dealing with a Demigod… What I intend to do is simple, to take the umbilical cord off your body.”

The umbilical cord? Those three worms?

This term led Fu Qian into imaginative thoughts.

How should I put it, although it greatly conflicts with the name ‘Dragon King’s blessing,’ it indeed resembles it slightly.

And this claim matched what Sunny did at the time; she did reach for the umbilical cord in front of her head.

“Considering your formidable strength, I had to borrow the ‘blessing’ and project a bit of its image, to maximally restrict you.”

“A reasonable decision to turn disadvantages into advantages.”

Listening earnestly to the strategy laid out against him, Fu Qian fairly commented.

“Too bad I didn’t expect that I had chosen the wrong target; you turned out to be a Demigod too… and even seem more difficult to deal with than Kelson!”

Sunny, with a complex tone, gave Fu Qian a high evaluation for his performance.

“To be honest, I even regret not directly making a move on Kelson, as you don’t seem to care too much about my life and death.”

Then you’re mistaken, although I’m indeed more interested in the being you’re pledged to, it’s important duty-wise that you stay alive.

Fu Qian thought quietly.

“And if you take the three umbilical cords, will I become the next Sunny?”

“…Yes.”

Sunny hesitated slightly before affirming his question.

“That’s the symbol of your original self, your complete existence will be compromised by this, and when they merge in my hand, you will become completely my Puppet.”

“I’m well aware of this, because back then… I did the same thing to Sunny.”

“In fact, even if someone is stronger than me, with its help, I can still try, although I really detest this action.”

Original self, so this umbilical cord also falls within the range affected by the oath, defined as a special concept?

Like the so-called dark side of humanity in the Angel Dungeon, only visible directly to an Oath Taker?

It checks out, and they’ve both got the guts to choose me as their target.

Having someone powerful covering you indeed makes one bold.

While showing understanding, Fu Qian went on to speak for her.

“So, once successful, by using me as a cover here until the blessing disappears, even if Kelson discovers us by chance, at least I am a formidable force in a fight, right?”

“Yes, that certainly is the ideal scenario I had in mind.”

Sunny sounded somewhat like she was laying her cards on the table.

“If you are planning any retaliative action, I completely understand.”

“In fact, I still have the capacity to continue because I don’t need to rely on a reflection to see the umbilical cords.”

“Very honest, this is where choices determine fate!”

Faced with Sunny, who was already in a defensive stance, Fu Qian sighed, maintaining his stable demeanor.

“…You’re not planning to kill me?”

Sunny seemed quite shocked.

“Why kill? What standing do I have to stoop to your level!”

“… Then you’ll let us go?”

“Why leave? Regardless of the process, isn’t this an ideal situation as per your plan?”

“The choice is yours to make, no need for my approval.”

…

Under Fu Qian’s authoritative statements, Sunny and the others were once again speechless.

If one thinks about it carefully, he was indeed correct; besides not having turned Fu Qian into a Puppet, not only did they succeed in using this place as a hideout, but even the potentially revealing blessing was somewhat restrained with his help.

“Then I’ll be intruding.”

Sunny finally chose a spot to sit down, indicating her stance.

“It’s no trouble at all.”

Fu Qian waved his hand nonchalantly.

“Next, I suggest you all should ponder why Sunny, who never entered the blessing, appeared here, to prepare for the questioning.”

Questioning? By whom?

Sunny was obviously startled for a moment, instinctively looking through the broken window before realizing something.

…

Even if Kelson wants to avoid direct conflict with me, how could he not arrange someone to monitor the activity here?

So, the news of Sunny appearing here will quickly reach his side.

The speed at which Kelson appears here will be inversely proportional to his captures.

Given he’s unlikely to have any captures, his arrival should be swift.

Ignoring the silent Sunny, and even the rapidly approaching electric light outside, Fu Qian’s focus was on the investigative findings Ah Long mentioned earlier.

A Deity from the Mythic Era whose honored name is taboo.

Honestly, this contradicts common sense.

From what I understand, most Ancient Deities only lost their revered names after the long night; during the epoch of widespread faith before that, if they didn’t have specific identifiers, how could their followers pray?

Is it purely by envisioning the Divine Beings in their minds? Is this why they made such a large seat?

Periodically manifesting to prevent deviations in the followers’ envisioning efforts?

The logic is sound but also abstract.

Fu Qian didn’t think Ah Long was lying, although his words just now were indeed reserved.

For instance, Fu Qian doesn’t believe that he completely doesn’t know how he became an envoy of the Dragon King.

But such concealment also adds a layer of credibility to his reluctance to have more people follow suit—otherwise, he should be actively sharing the method to increase his chances of turning into a similar being.

As analternative option for making a Puppet.

All in all, just this part of ancient secrets makes the decision to respect others’ fates rather than complete the task in the most efficient manner worth it.

“Mr. Lu.”

Content within, Kelson’s Demigod figure had already returned and once again confronted him.

While he spoke, undoubtedly keeping an eye on Sunny sitting nearby.

“Didn’t go so well? Let the little bug escape?”

Fu Qian nodded slightly as a greeting, continuing with seamless sarcasm.

“You shouldn’t be waiting to act in tandem with me, right? Your spirit of fair competition is admirable.”

“How did Madam Sunny end up here?”

Having previously experienced Fu Qian’s power in sarcasm, although Kelson’s face was like iron, he did not let it distract his focus.

“Good question.”

Fu Qian naturally looked over as well.

“I’d like to know that too.”
