Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1059: Chapter 1057: Blind Eye (23) Chapter 1059: Chapter 1057: Blind Eye (23) “Yes, this was Fu Qian’s sudden stroke of genius.

He needed to deal with an entity that even the warehouse thought transcendent forms could scarcely confront, using his mortal body.

It was abstract, but since it was such an undefeatable adversary, why not outsmart it with wisdom?

For instance, by opening one’s mind, completely abandoning self-consciousness.

He had already witnessed that the Holy Grail could even infuse knowledge into the undead. Could it possibly achieve something to the extent of Bairluck Town’s “Brain Dance”?

Once successful, he would be an anchor point with the least threat for it, an excellent tool.

Perhaps it wouldn’t spare him in the end, but before all other informed personnel were eliminated, he would most likely be safe.

However, to the unseen adversary, he would still be an existence that must be eliminated.

Should the priorities of the two conflict, the Holy Grail would have the opportunity to confront “It” directly and thereby become aware of “Its” existence.

What followed would be a game of wits between omniscience and unknowable authority, with the aid of himself as a tool.

This is why Fu Qian had chosen to slice his head into the appearance of the “Faceless” during the puzzle.

At this moment, the Holy Grail was arguably in the closest contact with his own thoughts.

And among all the “eyes” that had come into contact with, the Faceless were clearly the most open and accepting.

If there existed such a possibility as previously hypothesized, this would be the best time, place, and way.

Here, one couldn’t help but once again marvel at the fact that knowledge is power!

However…

After completing all this, Fu Qian, although indeed feeling a strange sensation at one moment, still didn’t reach the level of the Brain Dance he had imagined.

Was that still not enough?

An attempt involving the utmost limit of favorable circumstances didn’t seem to go as smoothly as envisioned.

“I thought I could escape math class!”

Fu Qian, however, did not show any disappointment, nor did he continue to wait.

Talking to himself, he casually put down his skull, began to cut his fingers one by one, and placed them back into the cup in front of him.

…

[Current mission updated, find the Blind Eye Holy Grail]

“Awake?”

As the puzzle was successfully solved and his vision returned, Charlotte’s slightly astonished voice came through again.

Looking around in the direction the voice came from, two had still perished, and he was still the last one to wake up.

Fu Qian also did not respond but first reached to touch the top of his head.

Just like his fingers, the wounds he had cut earlier had healed.

Fortunately, that strange sensation remained.

It seemed that once contact was made, the shape of the eye was no longer so important.

“Left hand, can you hear me talking?”

Charlotte’s voice had become slightly displeased.

Of course, she didn’t know that this displeasure was just the beginning.

“What’s that smell?”

In response to Charlotte’s interrogation, Fu Qian’s expression became animated in an instant, sniffing and saying a sentence.

“…I’m very curious about what kind of puzzle you encountered that has taken you so long.”

Amid Shi Gaozhi’s explosive laughter, Charlotte, with an ashen face, compliantly asked.

“Sage… Are there puzzles that are completely incomprehensible?”

Seizing the question, Fu Qian turned his head to look at the Sage.

Incomprehensible?

Ever since Fu Qian opened his eyes and touched his head, the Sage had been watching him intently, and now his eyes were slightly narrowed.

“In theory, they shouldn’t exist. Describe the process.”

“I can’t describe it.”

“Then how did you arrive at the answer?”

Even Ice couldn’t help but interject.

“That’s a good question…”

Unexpectedly, those words seemed to make Fu Qian pensive.

“How did I manage to do that…”

As he muttered to himself, his hand traveled to his face, pressing against both eyes.

“It’s like I just know the answer, even though the answer itself is incomprehensible…”

Without looking, Fu Qian knew what kind of suspicion his words would elicit from the Sage.

In fact, that was the intention.

Now, let’s confirm the situation one last time.

Inside the ancient relics of the Blind Eye Association, a team of spiritual inheritors is trying to retrieve the Holy Grail…

But the very nature of the Holy Grail means they are targeted because of this cognition…

Both parties are well aware of this…

But what they don’t realize is the presence of an incomprehensible, unstoppable, indomitable Transcendent being here…

It’s possible that, like the Holy Grail, He does not possess the concept of being alive in the usual sense but acts according to some essence-driven principle…

The current working theory of His actions is to ensure the Holy Grail continues slumbering while minimizing exposure of Himself…

And I’m trying to become a sacrificial tool for the Holy Grail, subtly implying to the Sage Old Master my obscure origins before doing so…

The Sage will likely repeat his old tricks, using me and the being behind me as cannon fodder…

There are still six members left in the team, and they are on alert around me. The Holy Grail, more likely than not, will not control me to act recklessly but will proceed with caution, allowing the exploration to continue normally…

As for the unknowable “He”, He obviously has patience, unless I—a tool not anticipated—cause a change in the Holy Grail that “He” cannot tolerate…

About time for a trial by ordeal.

The next moment, Fu Qian clenched his hands and dug out both eyes.

[Your eyes will deceive you]

The Blind Eye Association held this belief hundreds of years ago, and their solution was to see with “true eyes”.

As with the stone statue that listens to teachings, besides an almost certain presence of “eyes” above, it even covers its original eyes, to avoid being misled by illusions as much as possible.

This dedication to purity is worth emulating.

Regardless of whether the Holy Grail agrees, it’s absolutely worth studying.

…

With excruciating pain, the quiet air was pierced by a gurgling sound as screams were forcibly suppressed in the throat.

Fu Qian had, in a more pure manner than the Blind Eye Association, eliminated the possibility of being deceived by mortal eyes.

Now, the Holy Grail seemed to finally consider him a qualified sacrificial tool.

And indeed, Lady Grace hadn’t lied—this felt truly distinct!

In the perilous depths underground, Fu Qian, now enveloped in complete darkness, casually tossed his removed eyes aside, and his last thought abruptly ceased.

…

“Have you lost your mind?”

With the faint scent of blood wafting through, the silence was finally broken.

Ice, who had asked the last question, stared dumbfounded at the figure standing there, his left hand.

With that incomprehensible act, there were now only two bloody holes where his eyes should have been.

The horrifying sight made her voice hoarse.

Meanwhile, beside her, the sound of vomiting ensued, with Charlotte repeating his previous behavior, fortunately diluting the bloody stench in the air.

His tolerance in certain respects seemed quite sensitive.

“Sage?”

Shi Gaozhi, however, wasn’t inclined to mock again; he frowned and looked toward the leading Sage, whose Golden Staff still had wings fluttering.

“It looks like we need to deal with it.”

“No rush.”

To Shi Gaozhi’s surprise, faced with the left hand’s madness, the Sage’s expression had softened slightly.

“Each team member has his own value and should not be abandoned lightly.”
