Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1058: Chapter 156 Blind Eye (22) Chapter 1058: Chapter 156 Blind Eye (22) Indeed, confidence is key, a slip-up at last, huh!

In the prompting voice, Fu Qian, having returned to the warehouse, was quite satisfied with the current developments.

The final action of flipping the lever was just for show.

His task was to eliminate all other anchor points; if the Holy Grail were really exposed under the starry sky, wouldn’t it instantly fail the mission if a Deity took notice?

In fact, the Sage Old Master’s party truly didn’t care, because this was precisely their predetermined plan.

But someone did care.

Charlotte in the statue hall was most likely killed by the lasers shooting from the eyes, undoubtedly the handiwork of the Holy Grail.

But what about the three people in the Bell Tower Hall? Fu Qian saw very clearly, their heads seemed to fall off out of thin air, with no signs of any attack.

What exactly had they died from?

And most importantly, Fu Qian, who had lived a mere two seconds longer, once again experienced a destroyed shield and subsequent death, just like the last time he died from the “lasers.”

The difference was that this time there were no lasers.

This scene was really quite intriguing.

In fact, ever since Fu Qian was inexplicably killed through his shield in an instant, he had his suspicions.

Although it could be understood that the Holy Grail, in desperation, had used a trump card beyond cognition.

After all, with something beyond cognition, any sort of phenomenon wouldn’t be a surprise.

But one question remained insurmountable—why was it so perfectly misleading?

His first encounter with death was all too easy to interpret as the lasers suddenly increasing in power and consequently gaining the ability to penetrate shields.

If it weren’t for his suspicion, which guided his attempts and avoided having five people simultaneously under the statue hall’s gaze, thus advancing the progress further, this sharp, clean cut from nowhere would have never been seen.

It can now be almost certainly concluded that it wasn’t the lasers that broke the shield, but rather this move right here.

It had the power to kill him instantly but instead chose a traceless approach, breaking through the defense and leading to his death under the lasers.

This attack seemed to intentionally hide itself, a tendency not seen in any of the other defenses in the warehouse.

[Would you like to play the event retrospect?]

[Yes]

Lost in thought, Fu Qian chose to review the process of his last death.

It could be seen that aside from himself, the Sage’s three men were decapitated almost at the same time, as if their necks were effortlessly cut by an invisible sickle.

And he, a somewhat tougher stalk, was also nonchalantly sliced by the sickle.

…

Truth be told, even by Fu Qian’s standards, the protective effect after the Gold Shield’s activation was quite impressive, but it might as well have been non-existent.

An ordinary Demigod’s attack probably couldn’t achieve such a swift execution.

If the half-asleep Holy Grail could still generate such fearsome lethality out of thin air, Fu Qian found it hard to imagine how it could be controlled by an organization for centuries.

So, is it possible there really was a sickle?

Or even an existence wielding a sickle?

Unperceivable, wandering everywhere.

It too was thwarting the team’s plans for the Holy Grail, but instinctively concealed itself, only intervening when the Holy Grail could no longer cope.

It even cunningly made everything seem like the work of the Holy Grail.

It was Fu Qian’s manipulation, deliberately increasing the intensity of his actions, that made it reveal a hint of its presence.

Is this the real meaning behind the clue “Your eyes will deceive you”?

Is this the reason the warehouse imposed limits on his powers and items?

Because once he entered in a normal state, would he be instantly deemed an extreme threat and directly targeted?

This was a terrifying conclusion to consider, knowing that in his past tasks, he had even been tasked to confront Divine Beings, and had dealt with powerful Divine Envoys more than once.

But this time, the warehouse still deemed the hope of completing the mission while directly alerting it to be slim.

So exaggerated, or should it be called “It”?

…

To be honest, Fu Qian really didn’t want this guess to come true.

For that would represent a desperate situation—the premise of thwarting the Holy Grail operation was knowing of the Holy Grail’s existence.

That is to say, this invisible, unstoppable, and inescapable entity was very likely also one of his mission targets, an anchor point to be eliminated.

And he would have to complete it as an ordinary person.

Although it seemed the warehouse still believed, under such circumstances, that the probability of completion was higher than with a Transcendent identity, it indeed posed a challenge to the imagination.

After all, theoretically, if this thing really existed, there was currently no power within the ruins that could contend with It—wait a minute, it seemed that wasn’t entirely true.

The Holy Grail… naturally tended toward escaping the cognition of anything.

That is to say, if It was aware of the Holy Grail, regardless of Its motives, the Holy Grail would still target It.

The situation seemed to gain a little more possibility.

The next question was, how to help the Holy Grail target It?

In the silence, Fu Qian silently stared at the ethereal image in front of him, which didn’t much resemble an eye, then stood up and touched it again.

“Would you like to spend one SAN Point to attempt containment again?”

“Yes.”

Just then, he had an interesting idea.

“Reduced SAN Points by 1, entering the containment scene.”

“Current SAN Points: 96.”

…

“The current task has been updated, to solve the puzzles of the Illusion Realm and meet up with team members from the real world.”

It was the familiar scene again, the familiar scales and Star.

But this time, Fu Qian did not rush to cut off his finger.

Holding the sharp Bone Blade, he began to feel the top of his head with his other hand.

In his mind, the shape of the piece of skull that had been cut away in Lady Grace’s niece Veil’s home in Bairluck Town was recreated with utmost clarity.

After multiple confirmations, Fu Qian made the first incision.

What did Lady Grace say again?

Excessive barriers are protection as well as blindness.

Only by liberating the brain can one see the true self.

…

The ritual Bone Blade was incredibly sharp beyond imagination.

Even the hard Skull was effortlessly cut open.

Fu Qian meticulously controlled the depth and shape, ensuring there were no discrepancies from what he wanted.

The entire process was lengthy, especially under the intensifying urge to solve the puzzle.

But in the end, Fu Qian still obtained the diamond-shaped fragment.

As expected!

He wiped the blood from the Skull with the animal hide on the table and saw that at the center of the slightly curved Bone Fragment, there was already another eye.

Much smaller, and far more complex, filled with a kind of translucent material.

It was the pattern seen often outside the secret passageway.

This must be the safest of all known shapes of eyes.

Through it, the Blind Eye Association could even achieve glimpses of knowledge while isolating reverse influence.

Too bad that right now, what he needed was precisely the reverse influence.
