Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1056: Chapter 1054: Blind Eye (20) Chapter 1056: Chapter 1054: Blind Eye (20) “Is this mission… too simple?”

The pleasant notification undoubtedly confirmed the authenticity of the Holy Grail before their eyes.

But when Fu Qian heard it, he couldn’t help but frown slightly.

It made sense to make himself the only anchor point for the Blind Eye Holy Grail, especially after the conversation with Sage Old Master.

The intrinsic property of the Blind Eye Holy Grail naturally repelled being perceived by anyone.

The anchor points here clearly referred to everyone aware of its existence—normally, that would be the members of the Exploration Team. It was now time to make them stop being so impolite.

And since only he was aware of the Holy Grail, that must be the condition for the warehouse to successfully contain it.

This line of thinking still seemed logical.

But precisely because of this, that initial question arose again: Why take away his abilities and possessions?

Worried about being discovered by the Old Master’s Insight at the very start, leading to a major battle?

The thing is, with the current mission, this incomplete team of Saint Fighters seemed doomed to die.

Why not just take them out first and then find the Holy Grail afterward?

Concerned about the Holy Grail copying his abilities and becoming troublesome?

Although hard to imagine, even if it did copy something, where could it infuse it?

Those guards acting as the living dead clearly fell easily, disintegrated by a simple ray—how many tentacles could they possibly sprout?

The logic of this mission was indeed a bit odd.

Was it due to the unforeseen move that even the Sage could not detect?

According to the Old Master, the fall of the Blind Eye Association was due to delving too deeply, rashly seeing things meant to remain unseen—some knowledge beyond understanding seemed quite normal.

In fact, the fact that the Sage wanted to test him proved that even under his suggestion, the Sage considered it possible in his logic.

But frankly, even if all those eyes outside emerged with beams and tentacles striking him, Fu Qian didn’t think they would inflict any fatal damage.

Was there something even more terrifying? Something so formidable that the warehouse deemed it impossible to combat directly, advocating a strategy of wit instead?

Fu Qian remembered the last ray that had sent him away.

It tore through shields, absolutely indomitable.

“Is there a problem?”

At that moment, the voice of Sage Old Master came again from nearby.

“I’ve seen the clock, but where’s the tower?”

Fu Qian nodded, honestly raising a question.

Heh.

The Sage Old Master listened to the question with a smile but did not rush to answer, instead clapping his hands twice lightly.

In less than twenty seconds, the sound of nimble footsteps approached.

Ladies first?

Without looking back, Fu Qian knew that Ice, one of the three people left behind, had come in.

Judging by the timing, it was highly likely that the three had not been waiting at the entrance of the statue hall, but rather at the stairs beneath the statue.

Their eagerness, the reason they gave themselves probably was to avoid missing the signal, right?

Yet in this situation, the Holy Grail still remained inactive—was it because here in the Bell Tower Hall, it no longer had any means of counteraction and couldn’t deal with everything all at once?

No wonder the Old Master was so eager to bring people in. The threat from the Holy Grail had been eliminated, and naturally, the next one would be from the suspicious individuals.

“How marvelous…”

As Ice entered the room, which was undoubtedly now a battleground that the Sage Old Master could not lose, he seemed very relaxed. However, Ice appeared even more at ease.

The moment she entered, her eyes stuck to the Holy Grail as if glued to it, and she uttered heartfelt admiration.

“Even more enchanting than I imagined. It’s unbelievable that it had disappeared for centuries. Is it watching me?”

“To define that action is difficult, but clearly, it knows that you know of it.”

The Sage seemed very pleased with her reaction and smiled as he explained.

“Furthermore, the left hand seems to want to know: where is the tower of the clock tower?”

Oh?

Ice’s eyes flickered tantalizingly as she glanced at Fu Qian, then with a graceful smile pointed upwards.

“Star Watchtower, isn’t it right there?”

Star Watchtower was indeed an appropriate name, even fitting very well.

Fu Qian had already noticed that on the golden clock dials overhead, numerous shapes representing the Stars Association had indeed been carved out.

Moreover, it seemed that as the hands and dials moved, the positions of the stars would also interchange and shift—a miraculous design—wait a second, it seemed he knew where the “tower” was.

Is it really so wrong to be set in our ways?

With ancient ruins involving the Transcendent, there’s always this subconscious expectation that they should be in some remote place, not beneath a bustling metropolis.

Fu Qian looked up once more.

Star Watchtower, no wonder it sounded familiar.

That name had appeared in some book he had casually flipped through before.

It was one of the many wonders of this world, standing nearly a thousand years and still a landmark of an ancient city.

Supposedly, it was built to express admiration for the star-studded sky.

And that fabled clock face, carved with symbols of heavenly bodies, just like the one above, would shine beams of starlight, reflecting magnificent patterns on the ground of the clock tower, dreamlike and ethereal.

Of course, that’s not why the clock tower was featured in that idle book.

As a renowned spectacle, the clock tower was most infamous for its disasters.

It not only faced frequent natural calamities but was also subject to intense human destruction, making it a classic example of a turbulent fate; the golden clock above had ceased to work many years ago.

…

In any case, back to the previous question, where is the tower?

The one overhead certainly was not the clock of the clock tower, but what Ice pointed to—could it be even higher up?

Perhaps this was beneath the Star Watchtower?

Interesting; in this view, the mystery of this magnificent spectacle was probably inextricably linked to the Blind Eye Association.

Executing such an operation in a densely populated area was not without risk; it required sufficient necessity, such as building a place to house the Holy Grail?

And what would be the significance of the clock face overhead?

A series of thoughts flashed through his mind, and in the next moment, Fu Qian’s gaze settled on the largest star on the clock face.

You could see that behind the hollowed-out hole, darkness lurked like ink, a completely different material from the rest of the underground structure—could it be…

“How I envy those Transcendents; looking up from here, I sincerely can’t see a thing!”

The next moment, Fu Qian exclaimed earnestly.

“…What do you want to see?”

The Sage’s smile faded as he squinted at Fu Qian.

“The clock tower.”

Fu Qian replied as if it were the most natural thing, unconcerned about being wrong.

He never believed that, given the Old Master’s suspicious demeanor thus far, there’d be any chance he’d be left alive.

“Or rather, the light cast down through the clock tower.”

As if looking at the infinite height behind the clock face, Fu Qian continued.

“I wonder if moving this thing would have any effect?”
