Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1054: Chapter 1052: Blind Eye (18) Chapter 1054: Chapter 1052: Blind Eye (18) Everything was as usual. The team member who had been frightened away once again made his contribution but was abandoned in deep remembrance.

However, theoretically speaking, this was not good news.

Although he had changed some things and acquired a bit of information, it wasn’t enough.

At least, in Fu Qian’s view, it was far from sufficient for the team to escape its fated destiny.

As an outstanding member recognized by the Sage Old Master, he walked with a more justified demeanor in the middle of the team, silently pondering the current situation.

Meanwhile, the looks from the other team members were somewhat complicated.

Even though they had the Old Master’s endorsement, the abnormalities in Fu Qian’s behavior, which all had come to gradually recognize, made it difficult for the team members to maintain pure emotions.

Of course, Brother Shi Gaozhi was an exception, with a glint in his eyes that suggested a high percentage of murderous intent.

Fu Qian wasn’t surprised by this.

Shi Gaozhi, Ice, and Charlotte, besides their demeanor, also enjoyed a rather telling VIP treatment that was way beyond the normal team members, indicating their high societal status.

Not all nobles were vindictive, but most likely had a set of well-established world views.

The specifics of which could be seen in their attitudes toward the expendable members earlier; clearly, none of the three were the kind to be easily bound by team interests.

It’s like saying, even if you’re right, that doesn’t mean I should take the hit.

Fortunately, Fu Qian’s viewpoint was equally mature, holding no illusions about burying the hatchet.

“Sage, what’s the reason for these eyes?”

The next moment he shifted his attention to another matter.

“They seem to be more than just luminescent compared to those outside.”

“These are painted with the blood of the Starfall Beast.”

The Sage Old Master didn’t even look back as he spoke in an even tone.

“Born after the end of the Mythic Era, following a long exploration, the Blind Eye Association ultimately wandered down a mistaken path.”

He even detailed it extensively, casually revealing ancient secrets.

“The Association’s original philosophy was that humans were excessively dull-witted, hence they were abandoned by the Divine Beings during that lengthy night.”

“The solution was simple; endless knowledge was right before our eyes. All that was needed was to truly open them.”

“For hundreds of years, they did just that, until one day, they thought relying solely on human eyes was no longer enough, and so they set off down a path of no return.”

“You should notice that besides being luminescent, the shape of the eyes is different, right?”

Pointing overhead, the Sage’s tone became akin to that of a tutor giving an on-site demonstration to his students.

Indeed.

Fu Qian had naturally noticed this already; the eyes in this secret passage had simpler lines and more bizarre shapes, lacking many incomprehensible patterns.

“No one knows exactly what they saw, but one thing is for sure, while using the new eyes to see more, they lost their independence. Do you remember the most important rule of the Association I told you about?”

Like a teacher testing his students, the Sage Old Master looked even more like a mentor now.

“Mortal flesh, witness to the Transcendent.”

Even including Brother Shi Gaozhi, the group answered almost in unison, showing serious commitment; it was clear they had taken it to heart.

Of course, Fu Qian, who didn’t manage to recall it, naturally became the focus of attention once again.

It sounded interesting.

To be a witness to the Transcendent while remaining separate from it?

Fu Qian showed no sense of inferiority, thoughtful under the scrutiny of all the eyes.

It seemed to resonate with the people from the Sect that he had encountered.

“In light of the disasters that ensued, the Association was completely destroyed, and those with differing opinions left one after another. They continued the ideology in a unique way, including the Holy Grail Sect that uses the Golden Cup as a carrier to control the Transcendents, which is where your current equipment originates from.”

Looking naturally at the only team member who hadn’t answered, the Sage Old Master did not pursue the matter further.

The team members frowned in more than one instance, seemingly questioning if such leniency was justified, but Fu Qian could somewhat understand the reasons.

The Sage Old Master’s extensive tutoring was surely due to his previous performance, but these words might not have been intended solely for him.

If his suspicion about an association with the Sect proved correct, then the purpose of this discourse was likely to communicate the message “the Sage may have guessed something” to whatever will was behind him. How he reacted now was unimportant.

It also clarified something clear: the Holy Grail Sect had indeed evolved from the Blind Eye Association.

Even more surprising was the suggestion that the team’s Holy Garments were indeed made from the collected Golden Cups?

“Of course, all that is irrelevant now, for the purest form of the Blind Eye Association has been resurrected.”

“Knowledge is more exalted than the Transcendent. The correct things are always Immortal!”

With a somewhat impassioned tone, the Old Master turned back around.

By this time, the team had reached a familiar chamber, and the weeping statues were plainly in sight.

Still not approaching rashly or showing any sign of targeting Fu Qian, the Sage gestured for Brother TP to inspect the eight chairs; the wings on the Golden Staff crossed once again.

A feeling of acute observation followed, and, as expected, Fu Qian once again saw the Second-Dimension Zombies atop the dome—no more, no less, all five in place.

“What is that on the wall—”

In the midst of gasps, incessant pop-ups exploded in his mind, the Holy Grail repeating its trick and furiously pouring in information.

…

It seemed he was being taken more seriously this time!

With an even more sprightly air, Fu Qian grieved for having narrowly avoided the three laser beams and expressed his lamentation.

Indeed, not even Ice was spared. Out of the total five beams, two were aimed at the Sage, and three at himself.

He couldn’t help but wonder how the Holy Grail gauged levels of animosity.

As the information infusion gradually faded, Fu Qian, once more the focus of everyone, elicited a lengthy silence.

“Left hand.”

The Sage Old Master seemed almost cheerful, showing no puzzlement over why Fu Qian could resist the information infusion.

“The target is ahead. Go stand under the statue over there, and I’ll tell you how to activate it.”

Had the time finally arrived?

Worthy of being the Blind Eye Association’s inheritor, the Old Master’s thought process was indeed lucid!

Victory was in sight, and having just deciphered the opponent’s tactics, it seemed he had a firm grip on the situation. In such circumstances, it made sense to bring himself—an unpredictable element—forward to see if there might be dangers beyond understanding.

Indeed, this was the most effective way to employ a suspicious character like himself.

And most critically, there was indeed a danger beyond cognition!

With a sigh, Fu Qian didn’t hesitate and walked straight into the watchful eyes of the world.
