It was evident that Fu Qian’s way of answering questions had surpassed most people’s expectations and even their hopes.

Does that mean there was no sensational news, just because he was low-key?

The disappointed audience instinctively turned to Li Weixuan, whose brow was tightly furrowed.

“President Cass?”

As Li Weixuan asked around the arena, people suddenly realized that the director of Heaven’s Commencement Institute, who had even fought someone over this matter before, was unusually low-key today, having not spoken at all throughout the event.

Heh heh!

Even when Li Weixuan questioned him, Cass laughed strangely at first and stared at Fu Qian with his snake-like, brown vertical pupils for a few seconds.

“When I decided to accept Professor Fu into Heaven’s Commencement, it was because I discovered his extraordinary talent and amazing potential. The only problem might just be that he’s too low-profile.”

“It turns out, I wasn’t wrong in my judgment.”

It was clear that he was defending one of his own, the ever-protective Cass indeed.

The audience was silently critical.

Putting aside everything else, how could this man’s actions be considered low-profile?

“So that’s it.”

Li Weixuan, however, did not raise too many objections.

Although it was somewhat hard to believe, he too had more or less the same answer in mind.

He had almost fought with this man before, and back then, there was indeed no talk of divinity.

Hiding his strength might not have been due to being low-key, but it clearly had little direct connection with his initial purpose in joining the Academy.

“In that case, Professor Fu, I have one last question… Why did you leave after killing Ian? You must have known that this action would lead to misunderstandings.”

“I haven’t been in the Academy for long. Although my conscience is clear, I wasn’t sure about the Academy’s possible reactions, so I left to observe the situation first.”

This question did not stump Fu Qian.

“…Professor Fu is indeed candid!”

Fu Qian’s response, while significantly different from the righteous tone he had maintained earlier, seemed inexplicably honest upon reflection.

Li Weixuan was momentarily startled.

“With the situation as it is, I really have no way to refute you; today’s events are more complex than imagined.”

Taking a deep breath, Li Weixuan looked at the slightly wilted audience.

“Fortunately, I believe we have finally confirmed one thing, that Professor Fu’s previous actions were indeed out of a sense of duty.”

“This represents that when there are mistakes made by members of the Academy, we have corrected them ourselves, preventing further harm to the greatest extent.”

“I believe this is something we can clearly explain to the Night Watchman.”

“It’s been hard on you, Professor Fu. Once we fully understand the situation, I will definitely explain things to you.”

Directly offering Fu Qian official support, Li Weixuan then turned to the other side.

“Also, in this incident, I am pleased to see Heaven’s Commencement’s restraint. By comparison, Linghui clearly has a considerable problem. Don’t you think so, Professor Yang?”

Ignoring Ni Huayuan and Veron, the principals involved, Li Weixuan directly sought the opinion of the last demigod from Linghui.

Hmm…

With the situation hanging in the balance, the latter hummed vaguely, displeased yet having nothing to say.

“Once everything is thoroughly investigated, I will organize a discussion about the specific punishment for Linghui.”

Seeing how things stood, Li Weixuan exchanged glances with the other two, indicating for Veron and Ni Huayuan to stay behind, while the others could leave. The public tribunal thus concluded.

As Fu Qian left the venue under Li Weixuan’s direction, there was even a burst of cheering behind him; many from Heaven’s Commencement no longer bothered to hide their feelings.

And as the head of the Punishment Department, Lanaia was undoubtedly roped into duty, her nightlife plans seemingly spoiled again.

…

Without a doubt, it was already dark outside.

From being accused of murdering a colleague to becoming a resolute elite of the Punishment Department, Fu Qian, who had switched roles abruptly, strolled leisurely after leaving the venue without going far.

Soon, a figure appeared silently by his side.

With astonishing bone structure and a bizarre stance, it was none other than Demigod Cass, the most composed during the entire public hearing.

Smiling ambiguously as he assessed Fu Qian, the latter nodded slightly.

“Yun?”

“Yi.”

Fu Qian nodded.

…

Heh heh heh!

Heh heh!

“Actually, I also have an identity for wandering around; I’ll show you sometime.”

Despite the crude laughter shared, Cass was the first to speak.

You could tell the old man was indeed delighted, to the point where his phrasing was slightly improper.

“I’ve forgotten why I recruited you, but there’s no doubt that it was the right decision.”

“Want to know how I guessed?”

“Because I brought it up myself?”

Fu Qian recalled their interactions from that time.

“That’s indeed part of it, but most importantly, it was Miss Liushuang.”

“Oh, how so?”

“It was the first time she met you, yet her attitude towards you was quite unusual.”

“Others might interpret that as longing and respect for a senior in the Sword Dao, but in my view, her trust in you went beyond that concept. So eventually, I paid a little more attention…”

Cas studied Fu Qian from head to toe.

“After you left, she also disappeared for a while; she must have gone to find you, right?”

“That’s indeed true.”

Fu Qian did not deny it.

“But is that really the only reason?”

“…What do you mean?”

“It makes sense logically, but you’re not like Ni Huayuan and others who are genuinely interested in constantly monitoring a young girl’s expression changes. I don’t buy it.”

Fu Qian wore a look that said you must be joking.

“Was I found out?”

Cass looked at him slightly surprised and then laughed even more heartily.

“Indeed, what I just mentioned is true, but I left out a premise—Miss Liushuang joining the investigation team was deliberately arranged by me.”

“After Ian died, and with you nowhere to be found, I seriously looked into your recent actions.”

“From the information I gathered, your relationship with that girl was obviously special, so I thought bringing her along might just catch you.”

“All based on such a nebulous hunch? Did you calculate the odds?”

Though Fu Qian had already suspected this, he couldn’t help but retort.

He doubted Cass’s explanation because during his time on Ye Island, he felt the composition of that team was far too peculiar.

An investigation that included various experts forcibly included a student who had just reached the middle tier, which to the uninitiated, looked more like elite figures accompanying a young miss on a trip.

Whatever reason Cass gave to the Swordsmanship Department, Fu Qian believed he certainly had an ulterior motive.

Nevertheless, to employ such a method to bait him was indeed lacking in propriety.

“Heh heh… Low and how, do you think I need to calculate probabilities for such matters?”

And facing his criticism, Cass, although sounding somewhat lecherous, responded with an entirely domineering air.
