Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 956: Chapter 954 Prism (27) Chapter 956: Chapter 954 Prism (27) If one were to assume the worst intentions, was the situation truly orchestrated through deliberate misinformation? But then what would be the purpose?

At Transcendent Laboratory, Fu Qian, focusing on a detail that should have been overlooked, asked a rather profound question.

In fact, as soon as he posed the question, a not quite answer had already emerged in his mind.

As previously mentioned, a task that was supposed to be Transcendent but lacked it, likely indicated a looming major crisis…

During his contemplation, Fu Qian tapped his fingers lightly on the safe.

To his satisfaction, a few seconds later a somewhat frantic scratching sound ensued.

Indeed, it was there.

Without hesitation, Fu Qian deftly operated the safe.

A slightly low moan followed.

The disturbed Henry was clearly in a bad mood; he burst out from a small opening in the door and was immediately and firmly grasped by the neck.

“Hello there.”

With a smile, Fu Qian skillfully lifted the cat and once again, the mad cat Gunman made an appearance.

It seemed that this time, although Oliver had locked it in here, he hadn’t come to visit.

And that behavior had led to someone meeting their fate with a blown-off head.

Was this the consequence of not taking care of small animals?

Moreover, it was evident from Henry that in this constantly changing space-time, living beings were the only constants.

With each color switch, he was always the first one to get to his designated place, like an Actor who continually hopped from one scene to the next.

In contrast, the dead prisoner had solemnly put away the Tri-Color Potion, which theoretically should accumulate round after round, as much as needed.

If one were still alive, that is.

Tapping Henry’s head at the same rhythm, although the latter’s face twisted ferociously, it was to no avail, and instead added a touch of mania to the temperament of the mad cat Gunman.

It once again proved the importance of staying true to one’s heart; if one didn’t enjoy the work and strive for technical excellence, it was all too easy to overlook that familiar sensation of shattering a knee cap.

…

The reason why he had suddenly given up when his target was in sight was because he realized the body might be Oliver’s.

And it was his good habit of always asking “why” that led Fu Qian to deeply doubt the context of the entire incident.

In the eyes of his teammates, this place was undoubtedly a continuation of the first red scene, at most a different point in time.

Even if he told them about the differences, they might not think it had any impact.

But now, there was an important issue, from the time he had left to now, the duration was neither long nor short, yet the task completion prompt never appeared.

Rather than believing that everyone had the same tasks to complete on their own, and that five well-trained teammates had died before achieving success, Fu Qian preferred to think that what the Masked Men had gone to great lengths to find was not the imagined source of the colors.

That target was also the result of silent misdirection.

The actual source of color might not even be in this building at all.

So the question arose, if it’s not here, then where might it be?

In the next instance, Fu Qian thought of something, stopped his animal abuse, and lifted Henry to his eyes.

“Let’s go, let’s go see your owner and have a good chat about his dream.”

…

Naturally, Henry’s owner was Paul.

After all the work from one team to this point, it became likely that all that information was misinformation, and the situation was dire indeed.

Losing the lead on the task was one thing, but the real issue was if you had walked down the wrong path for too long, feeling good about yourself, then what lay ahead could be an unbearable weight.

It was even a concept far beyond just failing the mission once.

Fortunately, regardless, beyond the potential melodramatic love entanglements, at least he had learned who was the first to predict the disaster.

…

Alas, unpredictability is an eternal truth.

Fu Qian drove a car he’d picked up on the road with one hand and upon arrival at Paul’s residence, he knocked on the door, receiving no response.

Trying the door, it opened at the touch, and the room was utterly empty.

Had he also gone out? Where could he go in such turbulent times, “clarified” by the company?

That wouldn’t be surprising, but unless it was a situation where he had previously courted death, the company probably didn’t need to act too rashly; generally, publicly admitting a mistake would likely be enough to return home.

Could it be he was overly confident in what he had foreseen and had run away?

Paul didn’t seem the type to be so decisive.

As Fu Qian pondered silently, an odd sensation came from his hand.

Looking intently, it was the little cat Henry in his hand, seemingly slightly excited about being home.

Wait a second… could it be the legendary two-way pursuit? Paul went to look for this guy?

Quickly considering a possibility, Fu Qian didn’t indulge Henry’s wish to frolic. He went downstairs and headed straight for the cinema.

Located as one of Henry’s two frequent haunts, if Paul truly had some reason to suddenly become a responsible owner, the chances of him going there to find it were definitely high.

Of course, if Paul still wasn’t where it was necessary, he couldn’t keep searching blindly; he might have to return to the research building to understand the Masked Men’s exploration results.

If there was still time.

…

As it turned out, even amidst rampant rumors, people’s enthusiasm for watching movies was undiminished.

Fu Qian stood at the entrance of the cinema and could hear the howling inside.

However, one must always look on the bright side; under normal circumstances, such a bustling scene could usually net you a mini-boss.

Amidst the passionate background music, Fu Qian put into practice the principle of “wherever there’s noise, go there,” and quickly found a theater entrance.

But in the dim light, men and women adorned with various fluorescent markings were swarming to get through a single door.

The key point was they had not achieved their wish; the door was clearly locked.

Fu Qian’s eyes lit up, he returned the Tranquilizer and took out Mercy, firing a shot without a second word.

As one lucky audience member in the crowd had their head blown clean off, the initially noisy scene quieted for a moment.

A few seconds later, the audience began to react and pressed forward.

As an experienced person, Fu Qian took only a few minutes to lead the crowd in a crafty loop, circling around to the locked door.

Finding the keyhole amidst a mess of blood, Fu Qian unhesitatingly opened it with a breath.

Sadly, as he pushed, a heavy scraping noise echoed, and the door only cracked open slightly, seemingly blocked by a pile of clutter inside.

Just as I thought.

The noise behind him grew louder, but Fu Qian peered through the gap between the debris, scanned the dim movie theater swiftly, and successfully spotted a figure squatting there, arms wrapped around knees.

Adele?

That clearly much thinner figure, to his surprise, was not Paul but his neighbor, Adele.

Excellent! At that moment, Fu Qian felt more elated than shocked, lifting the cat in his hand for a show.

Meow!

Even Adele seemed to cooperate, meowing in response.
