Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 954: Chapter 952: Prism (25) Chapter 954: Chapter 952: Prism (25) How do we get in?

As they gathered insights, all the team members looked somewhat furrowed in frustration.

“We’re not familiar with the layout here, and that other team seems a bit overpowered in firepower.”

“No need to say ‘seems,’ they definitely are,” Death Row corrected Red Dragon’s somewhat euphemistic statement.

“Although they may not have more numbers, their firepower is much more brutal than ours.”

“The most important thing is, they’re blatantly indiscriminate in their attacks. The moment anyone gets close, they go for the kill. If I hadn’t reacted quickly just now, my injuries would be far worse than this.”

“If we can’t counter them head-on, is it possible to lure them out?”

Lady Star posed the question after a moment of thought.

“They haven’t come out yet…”

This time Qing sighed before Death Row could say anything else.

Her reminder successfully cast a somber mood over the atmosphere.

Indeed, they shoot at any suspicious person without hesitation, and if someone gets injured and flees, they don’t even pursue.

That team clearly has a specific goal in mind, most likely related to what’s inside. It’s hard to imagine any strategy that could draw them out.

“But no matter what, it would be a great pity to miss this opportunity…”

After a silence, Red Dragon’s murmur spoke for everyone’s thoughts.

Yes, it does seem difficult to achieve our goal, but we’ve racked our brains to get to this point, and there’s no way we can give up.

Not to mention, the phosphorescence signifying contamination on our bodies is still spreading slowly but steadily. Nobody knows when we might lose control.

“If it really comes down to it, we’ll have to look for another route,” Death Row said through gritted teeth after a moment of hesitation.

“The way we came from is definitely blocked now. My earlier attempt has made them cautious—they haven’t pursued, but that doesn’t mean we’re not being watched.”

“Don’t be too pessimistic.”

With a grave demeanor, Lady Qing still tried to find a silver lining.

“Just like Death Row said, because of his prior actions, those people will surely post guards on that route, which means an unavoidable dispersion of their forces. If we can concentrate on finding another path, or perhaps send just one person to draw their fire, it might not be a bad thing.”

“…What does Guansi think?”

As everyone fell silent, pondering Qing’s words, Masked Man finally spoke up, his question directed at the silent Fu Qian.

“A dead end.”

Without betraying his nickname, Guansi, Fu Qian delivered his verdict succinctly.

“…Do you really think there’s no chance?”

Red Dragon, who valued Fu Qian’s judgments greatly, was the first to express his shock.

Although the rest did not speak, their expressions clearly showed they were reluctant to accept this assessment.

These people have never been under siege before!

Fu Qian sighed deeply.

“If it were me, knowing that a group of people with dubious intentions and uncertain numbers has a clear goal, I wouldn’t bother with pursuits or split defenses. I’d just tell the guys to stay put and have a chat, while relying on our superior firepower to keep casualties to a minimum.”

“Anyway, we’ve got no other option. Perhaps you have a better idea?”

Even after going full circle, Death Row still had a rather poor impression of Fu Qian.

“I do.”

To everyone’s surprise, Fu Qian actually nodded, his explanation concise as he pointed around.

“Wait until it turns red.”

“…Have you lost your mind?”

Once they grasped what he meant, someone immediately retorted.

“Under those circumstances, no one would have evacuated, this place might be crawling with monsters!”

“Yes, but the monsters won’t necessarily still be pulling triggers.”

Facing Death Row, who slammed his hand on the table in frustration, Fu Qian had an attitude of ‘you made your choice.’

…

It was clear that Fu Qian’s suggestion had a significant impact.

Initially absurd, on closer thought, it wasn’t entirely unreasonable.

According to previous experiences, the change from blue to red did not alter the locale.

By that time, while we might be surrounded by shambling corpses due to contamination, the troublesome team inside might not be there anymore.

Even if they were, they would likely be easier to handle without their wits about them.

It was a real gamble with death.

“Moreover, think positively. What if our contamination is beyond saving by then? We might all be happily together,” Fu Qian added.

Happily together, your choice of words…

Although the urge to retort bubbled inside, it was evident that this spark of an idea shone most brightly in the mind of the sixth person.

“I agree with Guansi’s view. Another benefit is that even if it doesn’t work out in the end, we’re likely to learn a lot more about the situation under red status,” Red Dragon was the first to jump to support his partner.

“Yes, and during the wait, if that team opts for a defensive stance, we’ll have ample room to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings,” Qing chimed in with a nod.

“I agree too, taking a bit more time to rest might be better,” Masked Man said bluntly, indicating his support as well.

“Of course, based on our past experiences, this process may require everyone to be patient as it could be quite lengthy—”

In the midst of rallying the team, Masked Man’s voice suddenly cut off, his gaze fixated on the tabletop stained with Death Row’s blood.

The fine, high-quality wood grain, previously dyed an immersive blue, was now, within a breath’s span, just the slightest bit tinged with red.

Accompanying this was a fluorescent flow across the table, as if emanating from somewhere across—

Bang!

A gunshot resounded. A shadow was blasted away, crashing into chairs on the opposite side of the table.

Masked Man’s reaction was swift, and now it was clear that his target was a person.

Zombie-like, apart from the hole blasted through its chest by Masked Man, its head also seemed partially missing. The large swath of fluorescence spilling onto the table was oozing from within.

And yet, this creature managed to stand again in just seconds. However, before it could strike once more, its knees were shattered and it collapsed again on the table.

Its arrival was without warning, and if not for Masked Man’s quick reaction, they might have been hit.

It was evident—the color was shifting to red at a rate much faster than expected.

Meaning, the world the group now occupied was one from which no one had successfully evacuated, and it was right beside the source of the contamination.
