Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 978: Chapter 976: Reversing the Real Culprit (Part 2) Chapter 978: Chapter 976: Reversing the Real Culprit (Part 2) “Since we last parted, your vigor and spirit have recovered quite a bit, haven’t they!”

Fu Qian naturally had no objections to Li Weixuan’s remarks but took the opportunity to size up the head of the Swordsmanship Department.

This individual, who had originally stepped into the threshold of the half-divine and then was forcibly kicked back by Fu Qian’s own doing, not only appeared unscathed by any inner demons but even seemed to hint at further advancements after this period of cultivation.

With such resilience, it’s no wonder Professor Ian eventually chose a crooked path.

“Then let’s get straight to the point.”

Li Weixuan, seeing Fu Qian so cooperative, appeared quite gratified as he leafed through a stack of documents in front of him.

“Based on what we currently understand, not long ago you forced your way into the Divine Ashes Institute, injured the staff, and personally killed Professor Ian. I would like to confirm, is this true?”

“That’s right, it was me.”

Li Weixuan had barely finished speaking when Fu Qian admitted it straightforwardly, successfully stirring up a commotion among those from the Divine Ashes Institute.

“And your reason?”

Li Weixuan’s expression was serious.

“Well…”

Before answering, Fu Qian cast a glance towards the Divine Ashes Institute, disregarding the many angry faces, and fixed his gaze on Veron with a smirk that was not quite a smile.

“I was simply performing my duty.”

He answered with utmost confidence and righteousness the next moment.

Seeking justice for the people was hardly a mature excuse, therefore Fu Qian decisively did not resort to it.

…

“Can you explain in detail?”

This answer certainly tested one’s imagination, shocking everyone present, and the person next to Li Weixuan, who had been flipping through documents, finally couldn’t resist interjecting.

“It’s quite simple.”

Fu Qian had a look of profound recollection.

“Ever since I entered the Academy, I not only had the opportunity to exchange knowledge with peers but also gained the appreciation of Professor Lanaya, who personally invited me to join the Punishment Department…”

“And all along, I’ve been reminding myself not to betray this trust, to uphold my responsibilities!”

“Then, during an undercover investigation, I unfortunately discovered the deeds of Professor Ian.”

“Although I’ve always heard of his talent and gift, considering my duties, I ultimately couldn’t stifle my conscience and chose to do what had to be done.”

“If any unsuspecting staff members were hurt by me in the process, I can only express my deepest apologies…”

I really didn’t see this coming…

After Fu Qian finished his statement, the oversight committee was at a loss for words, even Li Weixuan unconsciously turned to look at Lanaya.

And Lanaya herself, who thought she had completed her duties and was looking quite relaxed, now appeared utterly petrified.

What kind of world is this?

In a few sentences, I’ve become the direct supervisor of the involved party?

And where did you get this sense of duty from, when nine times out of ten, no one can even find you?

“Nonsense!”

Just as Lanaya was looking at Fu Qian with a look of sorrow, while Fu Qian’s gaze remained firm, radiating a ‘please rest assured’ aura to the organization, someone from the audience could no longer sit still.

And that slightly deep roar of anger, undoubtedly, came from the side of the Divine Ashes Institute.

Looking intently, the speaker was older than Veron, with rather androgynous features, clearly another half-divine from the Divine Ashes Institute.

At this very moment, the senior authority was glaring fiercely at Fu Qian, his presence dominating, looking like he couldn’t bear to listen any longer.

“Even if Ian is dead, that doesn’t give you the right to fabricate stories about him here!”

“Professor Yang!”

Unfortunately, his scolding was quickly interrupted by Li Weixuan.

After calling out with a stern face, under Li Weixuan’s scrutinous gaze, Professor Yang huffed and said no more.

“Professor Fu, can you explain in detail what you’ve found? What exactly did Ian do that made you believe his death was inevitable?”

Maintaining order, Li Weixuan addressed Fu Qian to continue.

Is that how he asks the question? Looks like the Night Watchman really isn’t present today.

Seeing Li Weixuan’s direct questioning, essentially asking him to make a detailed statement, Fu Qian instantly understood the hint and knew what was expected of him.

“Actually, it’s quite simple. It’s just treating ordinary people like crops, and then using the love of his life as a harvesting machine.”

With a cold snort, Fu Qian recounted in detail the events he had witnessed at the banquet and the results of his subsequent investigation.

Naturally, in the whole affair, he wasn’t someone who had mistakenly intruded into the Yin party, but an elite member of the Punishment Department—astute, covertly infiltrated, and after obtaining the evidence, executed justice righteously.

Given the bizarre nature of Ian’s actions, they were so outlandish that there was no need to exaggerate, and the atmosphere of the assembly was instantly ignited.

In particular, the female instructors with strong empathetic abilities, Fu Qian had already seen more than one grinding their teeth in anger.

“Of course, I do not doubt Professor Ian’s affection for his lover. He once told me personally that even if his lover were to be shattered to pieces, he would still carry the memories associated with his lover eternally.”

In this situation, as a person committed to seeking facts, Fu Qian wouldn’t just highlight the negative aspects; he chose to emphasize the deep affection of the party involved.

“Director Li…”

And after he had finished speaking, Fu Qian personally saw the recorder, Chang Mo, trembling with his hands.

It was well known that at a hearing, when the number of people increases, debate is no longer the focus—stirring emotions becomes the key to success.

And for us, this presents no difficulty at all.

“Professor Fu, I understand the situation you’ve described.”

With a sharp look that quelled the disturbance from the Divine Ashes Institute’s side, Li Weixuan motioned for Chang Mo to make an accurate record.

“I won’t question the content for now, but I do have one issue. You said you were performing your duties, so why did you not report the anomaly to Professor Lanaya first, instead of acting on your own?”

What a way to say ‘for now, I will not question’.

Fu Qian praised inwardly.

Glossing over briefly and forcibly moving to the next topic, Li Weixuan clearly wasn’t just all muscles and no brains, unlike some martial fools!

And at the same time, even though the situation was so dire, insisting that Chang Mo make an accurate record also made the stance very clear.

The Night Watchman might have acquiesced to the Academy handling the matter on their own, but mistakes are mistakes, not to be concealed opportunistically.

All should be accurately recorded and submitted, letting the Night Watchman decide how to proceed, thus maximizing the display of sincerity in self-examination.

Brother Yuan Fang’s trust in him was not misplaced.

As Old Master Veron said, many things are understood in silent agreement.

The only chance for Divine Ashes Institute to turn the tables was to confirm the “factual truth” in advance and find evidence to support it.

Too bad for them, as someone professional in winning against the odds, playing this favorable game now goes beyond effortless.

“Why didn’t I report it…? Simple.”

Fu Qian gave a cold smile, causing Lanaya to look tense, fearing that he would say something like the person in charge was unfindable due to being busy drinking.

“There wasn’t time. Ian was in the midst of his final sprint for promotion, and a delay of even a second could have made the situation irretrievable.”
