Peerless Divine Doctor

Chapter 2877: Chapter 2878: Black Butterfly Legion

Nameless decisively made his decision and immediately left the Prosperous Age Army!

Of course, none of the soldiers were aware of this; they still thought he hadn’t exited his secluded cultivation.

Now, this army of 250,000 has become Ye Luo’s forces, granting him absolute authority!

In essence, a general in the field doesn’t always obey the monarch’s orders, so in certain situations, Ye Luo’s orders may even be more important than those of the King of Huainan!

However, Ye Luo began to contemplate how to utilize this army of 250,000.

It’s like a person obtaining a sharp sword; while it may injure others, it can also potentially harm oneself! Additionally, there’s the responsibility to bear!

These 250,000 soldiers rely on Ye Luo for their survival conditions, from food and drink to other necessities.

Especially now, with the Demon Realm in turmoil, things are even more challenging.

Thus, while the King of Huainan seems to trust him, in reality, he has burdened him with a heavy responsibility.

After all, the King of Huainan’s entire army amounts to just over 500,000, and now it’s as if nearly half has been handed over to Ye Luo.

However, since Ye Luo has accepted it, he will undoubtedly proceed forward; fleeing in the face of battle is not Ye Luo’s style.

”Then, indeed, the Assassin Alliance should pay some price!”

In reality, Ye Luo has never been fond of assassins, not to mention that the Assassin Alliance has made several attempts on him. What’s more important, the Assassin Alliance has committed countless evil deeds in the Demon Realm; such forces shouldn’t exist.

As a result, Ye Luo immediately gathered several generals to discuss the next action.

However, the expressions of these generals aren’t exactly pleasant right now.

Ye Luo knew they were now absolutely loyal to him, so their expressions suggested something was about to happen.

”Generals, is something about to occur?” Ye Luo immediately asked.

Previously, he was informed that these generals wanted to see him, but since he was drinking with the King of Huainan, he postponed it.

”The Royal Teacher isn’t aware, but we attacked an Assassin Alliance stronghold, which was certainly a great victory. Yet, it was like stirring a hornet’s nest; the Assassin Alliance is determined to fight us with their elite squad, Black Butterfly!” a general said in a grave tone.

Black Butterfly? Ye Luo was somewhat perplexed because he hadn’t heard this name before.

”That’s right, Royal Teacher, Black Butterfly is a newly formed guard squad of the Assassin Alliance, consisting entirely of elite assassins. Despite its short existence, its battle record is impressive. It’s uprooted several powerful forces around the Assassin Alliance and even encountered the Prince’s army on the battlefield!” another general quickly added.

”Oh? What was the outcome?” Ye Luo was even more curious since the King of Huainan’s troops are renowned in the Demon Realm, rarely defeated, with countless examples of victory with fewer forces.

The general sighed, ”Originally, that battle became taboo in the military. Except for the soldiers who experienced the battle, few know that we suffered a crushing defeat! Over ten thousand soldiers were completely wiped out by two thousand members of the Black Butterfly guard squad!” the general lamented.

Hearing this, Ye Luo’s expression immediately turned solemn. Five times the force, yet achieving victory with fewer troops—a miraculous feat.

This proves that Black Butterfly’s reputation isn’t just for show.

The issue is that Ye Luo commands a full 250,000 elite troops, whereas the total number of Assassin Alliance cultivators isn’t even close. The guard squad likely consists of only a few thousand. How could it shake this vast army of 250,000?

That’s why, despite the Assassin Alliance’s long-standing presence, they never possessed their own territory, due to their limited number of cultivators.

Their focus is primarily on assassination, not battlefield advantage.

After all, even a capable assassin of the Martial Emperor Realm would only escape when facing tens of thousands of troops.

”We understand the Royal Teacher’s thinking. We initially thought the same as the Royal Teacher: how could a few thousand assassins of Black Butterfly pose a threat to our thousands of elite soldiers? Yet, the news received yesterday sent chills down our spines!” a general said with a slightly troubled expression.

”Oh? Go ahead!” Ye Luo immediately inquired.

In fact, he already had a suspicion.

”The Assassin Alliance has teamed up with the Demon Race, transforming the Black Butterfly guard squad into the Black Butterfly Legion. The exact number of troops is unclear, but we can be sure the count exceeds 100,000!”

Ye Luo squinted his eyes upon hearing this.

What will happen when the Black Butterfly Legion of 100,000 faces Ye Luo’s 250,000 elite soldiers?

If given two years to train these elite troops, Ye Luo is confident he can sweep through the Black Butterfly Legion.

However, these 250,000 elite soldiers have just been handed over to him, requiring a lengthy period of mutual adaptation. The only advantage is that he has restored some command, but it’s still ineffective!

Moreover, how many soldiers does the opposing army have? It’s true the Assassin Alliance numbers are small, but the problem is the Demon Race consists of a considerable number. Building an army of tens of thousands isn’t a challenge for the Demon Race.

”Royal Teacher, that’s why at this moment, we shouldn’t take action but instead focus on defense. This stronghold is the ideal defensive location. Since we occupied it hastily, many defensive arrays can still operate. With a bit of adjustment, the defensive power of this stronghold can be enhanced significantly, thus sparing us a lot of trouble!” an old general proposed.

Subsequently, several other generals nodded, evidently having reached a consensus privately.

This doesn’t imply isolating Ye Luo; it’s merely a method of discussion.

Ye Luo, however, shook his head, ”Haven’t you noticed that our victory was surprisingly easy this time?”

Too easy? The generals didn’t understand what Ye Luo meant by this.

”Our attack on this stronghold resulted in casualties numbering less than a hundred. This was an important stronghold for the Assassin Alliance, and we seized it effortlessly, pledging little resistance from their assassins!” Ye Luo analyzed.

The generals furrowed their brows.

Previously, they hadn’t given it much thought. After all, they had seized the stronghold, leaving no room for contemplation.

”What does the Royal Teacher imply?” asked the old general solemnly.

”I’m merely speculating—it might be a plot, deliberately letting us occupy this stronghold, then using its defenses to fend off the Black Butterfly Legion! And then!”

Ye Luo didn’t continue, but the generals felt a chill run down their spines, with a foreboding wind on their backs.
