Peerless Divine Doctor

Chapter 1602: Chapter 1603: Some Are Joyful, Some Are Worried

Isn’t this heavy enough? Gathering almost all the great clans and important officials of the Great Tang, is it really just as simple as a family banquet?

However, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is, who exactly is this Prince Consort?

You must know, so many eyes are on the fat piece of meat that is the Crown Princess. It is feared that among all the civil and military officials, anyone with a suitable male in their family has been instructed to try and win the Princess’s favor.

The Emperor of Great Tang is famously fond of the Princess!

Fortunately, because the Princess is after all a daughter, and has always been approachable, she has won quite a bit of support.

But this suddenly appearing Prince Consort, who exactly is he?

At this moment, a prince stepped forward and said, ”May I ask Your Majesty, who exactly is this Prince Consort to have won the Princess’s favor?”

The prince himself is of the Royal Family, so stepping forward to ask such questions can only be seen as an elder’s concern for the younger generation, and won’t be misunderstood.

Upon hearing this, the Emperor of Great Tang’s expression visibly turned unpleasant. If not for the scandal and the Princess’s agreement to marry Ye Luo, the Emperor would not have put on such a show.

”Dear ministers, calm down. Here, I have another matter to announce: the Ninth Prince, Ye Luo, after my verification, is not of my bloodline. Therefore, I have decided to strip Ye Luo of his princely status!”

This statement caused an uproar in the hall, and this news is even more shocking than the Princess’s marriage.

The Ninth Prince Ye Luo has now become the most talked-about figure in the Great Tang Empire across all levels, whether by commonfolk or high officials. If someone can’t speak about the latest on Ye Luo, they may even be scorned as ignorant!

There were even secret rumors of the Emperor planning to dethrone the Crown Prince and appoint Ye Luo instead, but now the Emperor of Great Tang declares he will strip Ye Luo of his princely status.

How could this not provoke thought?

The reason given by the Emperor is that Ye Luo is not of his bloodline, but the gathered civil and military officials are not fools. Even if he is not of the royal bloodline, why wasn’t anything done earlier? Now, after Ye Luo has subdued the Demon Clan and exterminated the Yingchen Family who secretly built Spirit Sword Island intending rebellion, the Emperor announces Ye Luo is not of royal blood and must be stripped of his status. Is this not ”once the birds are gone, the bow is put away”?

Of course, representatives from some of the great families are secretly pleased, for Ye Luo’s downfall is undoubtedly good news for them. After all, who knows on which noble family’s head a princelike Ye Luo might land a blow next!

...

Looking at the chaos below among the civil and military officials, the Emperor of Great Tang felt a deep sadness. Although he had long realized that Ye Luo as a pawn had exceeded his control, he still did not expect the reaction Ye Luo caused to be this great, and this is just among officials; it is feared that among the public it would be even more terrifying!

And now that Ye Luo has successfully replaced the Demon Clan’s Third Prince, he has become someone the Emperor must ponder thrice before considering moving against!

Moreover, the forces Ye Luo has cultivated have already gained some momentum, and now, even if the Emperor of Great Tang wants to move against Ye Luo, it wouldn’t be so easy.

However, despite knowing this, the Emperor still had to provide more for Ye Luo! This caused the Emperor great displeasure, but for the sake of his beloved daughter, it was all worth it. Of course, when it comes time for the bride price or dowry, Ye Luo would naturally have to suffer a bit; though the Royal Family does not emphasize dowries, the Emperor of Great Tang will surely have his ways with Ye Luo!

”Everyone quiet, there shall be no noise in the main hall!”

Xiao Guizi instantly stood out and shouted loudly upon seeing the Emperor of Great Tang’s slightly furrowed brows.

Though people could choose not to listen to him, given that they were in the main hall, everyone could only reluctantly stop their discussions.

Nonetheless, the Emperor of Great Tang still saw panic and doubt in the eyes of some.

”Dear ministers, I am not a foolish ruler. In fact, I have accepted Ye Luo as my adopted son, and keeping the princely title is still possible; however, for the sake of the Princess’s marriage, the title of Prince Ye Luo had to be abolished.”

”I hereby announce that from this day forth, Ye Luo is stripped of the title of Ninth Prince of Great Tang and is instead granted the title of King of Wuwei. Furthermore, in three days, along with Xiaoyao King’s beloved daughter, Princess Ling Xue, the Chen Family’s fourth daughter, Miss Chen Siqi, and my beloved daughter, Princess Li Muxin, they shall be married to the King of Wuwei, Ye Luo!”

The main hall was silent, quiet as if it were a marketplace not long ago, yet now it was silent!

It is said the Royal Family is chaotic, but now, chaos doesn’t even begin to cover it!

A prince, in an instant, became a prince, and then turned around to marry his sister!

What sort of situation is this?

At this moment, the people were not only shocked at the grace bestowed upon Ye Luo by the Emperor, but also the chaos of the Royal Family.

It’s only an engagement announcement, but hidden within it, just how much intrigue lies?

Actually, the Emperor of Great Tang had long anticipated that the news would inevitably lead to countless discussions.

Yet the Emperor of Great Tang was powerless! Nowadays, Ye Luo was no longer a piece he could move at will. Should Ye Luo rebel, the entire Great Tang would undoubtedly descend into chaos, and that’s not all; if Ye Luo ever became displeased and used his status as the Third Prince of the Demon Clan to instigate an invasion of the Great Tang Empire by the Da Yue Empire, that war would surely erupt!

It was the Emperor of Great Tang and the Border Guard who raised Ye Luo as a mountain, yet now this mountain was something they had to fear.

Fortunately, Ye Luo had never shown any ambition or dissatisfaction towards the Great Tang Empire, acting entirely according to the Emperor’s orders, leaving the Emperor without even an excuse to be angry!

It can be said that Ye Luo’s actions have won the Emperor’s trust, so now the Emperor is considering how to bind Ye Luo, to have him willingly serve Great Tang and loyally support the Crown Prince, rather than confronting Ye Luo.

Because Ye Luo’s capabilities are evident and his loyalty is absolute, naturally, the betrothal was inevitable. This matter was no longer about whether the Princess would accept; besides, the Princess had agreed!

The Imperial Palace was festooned with decorations, and the Emperor of Great Tang even gathered renowned chefs from across the land to host a grand engagement banquet for the Princess and Ye Luo!

As for the Chen Family, the Chen Family is actually one of the Great Tang’s four most powerful clans, although usually low-key, it is filled with protégés both in court and in the common world!

Chen Siqi, the fourth daughter of the Chen Family, was also the family’s pain. Simply being able to marry was already considered good, not to mention marrying alongside the daughter of Xiaoyao King and the Princess, so compared to the Emperor of Great Tang, the Chen Family was most delighted.

Of course, there were those who rejoiced and those who worried. Xiaoyao King was quite displeased at this moment. His beloved daughter and Ye Luo’s betrothal was first, even officiated by the Emperor himself, and now, the second thing the Emperor does is snatch his son-in-law, adding on that ugly daughter from the Chen Family!
