Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 278: Chapter 101: Coordinated Hunt

The plan was already set.

But Chen Wen still had to persuade the Golden Eagle and the Snowy Owl.

The Golden Eagle was fine, but Chen Wen was worried about the Snowy Owl.

This fellow’s trust in him was far less than that of the Golden Eagle and the Lynx, making him worried that the Snowy Owl might resist when asked to do something so dangerous.

But to Chen Wen’s surprise, the Snowy Owl just shook the snowflakes off its wings and agreed to Chen Wen’s plan.

It was willing to harass the Wolf King for Chen Wen, causing it to stray from the pack.

Ironically, it was the Golden Eagle that seemed hesitant and reluctant to engage.

Seeing this, Chen Wen slapped the Golden Eagle’s back: ”Go!”

The Snowy Owl silently slipped off the branch, gliding like a maple leaf toward the wolf pack.

The Golden Eagle flapped its wings noisily, flying into the sky.

Its specialty was diving attacks.

Once the two birds flew off, Hua Yun immediately provided some illumination with his flashlight.

The wolf pack was lit up, stirring uneasily.

Soon, amidst the Snowy Owl’s cries, a confrontation erupted between it and the Wolf King.

The head wolf never imagined that one day it would be attacked by the king of the sky.

Ordinarily, the sky’s rulers and the land’s rulers lived in peace.

But now, the collaboration between the Snowy Owl and the Golden Eagle left the head wolf in a passive state.

The Snowy Owl’s strength lay in its agility.

With each dive, it sidestepped the wolf pack’s claws, delivering a scratch or peck to the Wolf King’s rear from behind.

It struck and retreated each time, never greedy for more.

Leaving the head wolf defenseless and overwhelmed.

While the Golden Eagle was more straightforward and brutal.

It dove directly from high above, tearing viciously at the head wolf’s body with its talons, causing it agonizing pain.

The Golden Eagle attacked the back, so unless the head wolf lay down.

The Golden Eagle couldn’t be easily deterred otherwise.

The other wolves attempted to help their leader shake off the raptors’ harassment.

But they couldn’t do much good, and sometimes even caused more harm than help.

Take this for instance.

When the Snowy Owl pecked at the head wolf’s rear again, a younger gray wolf opened its mouth wide to bite.

But instead of biting the nimble Snowy Owl, it accidentally bit its own king’s sensitive area.

If it had bitten harder, this bite might have directly incapacitated the Wolf King.

The Wolf King howled miserably, its hind legs buckling and almost kneeling on the ground.

From above, Hua Yun watched this scene and nearly laughed out loud.

That Snowy Owl was truly sly!

From Hua Yun’s perspective, the Snowy Owl deliberately attacked the Wolf King there, even using itself as bait to attract other wolves’ attacks.

It was able to leave thanks to its superb flying skills.

But the Wolf King couldn’t manage that.

For a moment, the wolf pack descended into chaos.

The Wolf King went into a frenzy, and the others dared not approach, making Snowy Owl and Golden Eagle even more audacious in their attacks, causing the Wolf King even more pain and rage.

It was a vicious cycle.

Having already descended from the tree and hidden away, Chen Wen witnessed this and almost laughed aloud.

This Snowy Owl was a genius!

After a brief pause, Chen Wen decided not to waste this opportunity.

He had already hidden near the head wolf.

He waited for the surrounding wolf pack to disperse, or for a gap to open up for him.

Once that happened, Chen Wen intended to rush out and decapitate the Wolf King.

Then quickly climb a tree using [Iron Bear Three Moves], accomplishing his mission and retreating safely.

Reality was much like Chen Wen had envisioned.

The two raptors’ relentless nighttime harassment left the head wolf defenseless and in agony.

Amid the continuous assaults, the head wolf moved out of the encirclement.

It even came into Hua Yun’s view.

Hua Yun took a deep breath, steadily aiming his bow and arrow.

Focus!

Shoot!

Whoosh!

An arrow flew towards the target, but the head wolf inadvertently turned sideways, letting the arrow shoot into its flank.

It was off-target, not hitting any vital organs.

Hua Yun felt a bit regretful at the situation.

The Wolf King shot by the arrow screamed pitifully.

That sound made Hua Yun and Chen Wen’s hairs stand on end, sending chills down their spines.

Could a wolf’s howl carry psychological intimidation?

Chen Wen wondered in his hiding place.

After its howl, the Wolf King decided to flee.

It let out a howl, signaling its pack to follow it away.

This was a failed hunt!

The Wolf King mused: it not only lost one of the pack’s key members, but it also suffered severe injuries itself, and another key member sustained minor injuries.

This wasn’t the biggest issue though. The main problem was that nothing was gained from this hunt.

Not even a morsel of meat!

It was a significant failure!

This would cause the pack to question its leadership.

And it happened to be severely injured; if the Silver Gray Wolf decided to challenge it now, the Wolf King would be no match.

What should it do?

The Wolf King worried.

However, soon it no longer needed to worry.

In the shadows, seeing the Wolf King staggering in its run.

Chen Wen smirked slightly.

A road to heaven and you do not take it; a path to hell and you come right for it.

Of all the paths, you chose the one where I lay in ambush, wasn’t this meant to be your end?

Chen Wen raised his axe, stepping out from the shadows.

The Wolf King never expected that the mysterious two-legged beast would appear here!

But it didn’t need to wonder for long.

Chen Wen delivered a side kick, knocking down the Wolf King.

Before the Wolf King could retaliate, he raised his axe like chopping firewood, delivering a straightforward blow.

[Lumberjack] can fell trees, and it can kill beasts!

Thunk!

A muffled sound.

Chen Wen’s full-force chop hit the Wolf King’s skull.

A bronze head was no match for a steel-alloy axe.

This axe left the Wolf King with no chance of survival.

Chen Wen didn’t even look, stepping forward to pull the axe out from the Wolf King’s head.

Then, as if his tail were on fire, he quickly dashed toward the nearest tree.

While the other wolves howled and charged at him.

Chen Wen leapt upwards, grasping tightly onto the spruce trunk with both hands.

Then, with great speed, he used the power from his waist to lift his lower body up.

His legs cooperating seamlessly wrapped around the spruce trunk one after the other, his waist arched.

Then Chen Wen’s waist acted like a spring, snapping straight as it propelled his upper body further upwards.

His hands gripping steadily on the trunk, he repetitively performed the same actions.

With the aid of [Iron Bear Three Moves], Chen Wen seemed to embody a black bear.

Climbing towards the treetop with incredible speed.

The wolf pack below watched in disbelief as Chen Wen escaped their attack range with a couple of agile moves.

What was this?

What kind of creature was this?

The wolf pack was utterly disheartened.

The Wolf King was dead, the murderer had escaped.

Next, it seemed like the pack’s spirit would crumble—the team would dissolve...not quite.

But the wolf pack’s ability to recover was quick.

After a brief chaos.

The silver-gray wolf let out a howl and led the pack into the dense woods.

Frightened to its core by Chen Wen and Hua Yun, it dared not return.

Watching the silver-gray wolf’s frantic retreat, Chen Wen sigh with deep emotion: ”Well, only wolves like you, who understand the value of life, can survive longer!”

At this moment, the Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl landed on the branches near Chen Wen.

Listening to his words, the Golden Eagle’s agreement was evident: ”Exactly, exactly, that’s how I think too. Look at me, even though I’m small, I’ve survived here for so long. Some male golden eagles I knew were even as large as females, yet they still got killed, but I’ve survived up to now!”

”You’re an old schemer, you’ll definitely live long.”

Chen Wen said cheerfully.

The Snowy Owl though was slightly dismissive of this.

In its view, living long was less important than living joyfully.

The Snowy Owl flapped its wings, saying: ”It seems they won’t dare to come back anymore. When do we chase after them?”

Chase after them?

Chen Wen shook his head repeatedly: ”No, forget it. These wolves seem like they’re fleeing, but they really still have the ability to counterattack. If we recklessly chase after them, it might lead to trouble. Driving them away is good enough.”

Saying this, Chen Wen slowly slid down from the tree.
