Wilderness Survival with Druid System

The entry for Arctic Hare isn’t exactly high-end.

Both positive entries were blue, leaving Chen Wen a bit disappointed.

But he still chose the one that seemed a bit more useful, [Digging].

This entry seemed alright.

After selecting the entry, Chen Wen focused on enjoying the feast.

Before long, most of the rabbit meat was gone.

Chen Wen reached out, grabbing the charred black grouse down.

He split the grouse in half, handing half to Hua Yun: ”Try this, it’s roasted a bit excessively, but it should still be edible.”

Hua Yun brought the grouse up to her nose for a sniff.

The burnt smell wasn’t too strong.

”Then I’ll give it a try.”

Hua Yun spoke, tearing off a leg of the grouse.

The grouse wasn’t very big, Chen Wen felt it was about a size smaller than a young hen.

He tore off the slightly burnt chicken skin, chewed on it along with the grease.

”Crispy with a chicken flavor.”

”Of course, they’re both Galliformes, grouse and chickens are related.”

Chen Wen nodded.

He closed his eyes and checked the entries.

In past survival experiences, chickens had helped him quite a bit.

They even brought out a top-notch entry like [Mao Day Star Official].

Let’s hope the grouse delivers!

[Targeting Nature’s Creation - Grouse, Execute Plunder!]

[Plundering... Plunder Complete!]

[Please choose one of the following three entries]

[Poor Flyer (Blue): You are even less adept at flying]

[Note: ”Faster flying doesn’t beat swift walking, besides, in critical moments, we can fly too!” - Grouse]

[Molting (Purple): Every spring and autumn, you will replace your hair, allowing the color to adapt better to the environment]

[Note: ”We grouse come with our own ghillie suits!” - Grouse]

[Lush Hair (Blue): Your hair will become extremely thick, making it easier to retain heat]

[Note: ”How to survive in frigid high-latitude regions? Just grow a thick coat of hair!” - Grouse]

[Please make a choice within one minute, or it will automatically select the first entry!]

The grouse’s entries were decent, another warmth-retention entry.

Chen Wen decisively chose [Lush Hair].

He didn’t choose [Molting], besides the entry being quite noticeable, his home was in the south of Hua Country.

If he molts in summer, he fears his headgear would turn green.

This was absolutely unacceptable for Chen Wen.

In conclusion, the entry selection was complete.

After the hearty meal, as usual, Chen Wen disposed of the food scraps and bones over a hundred meters outside the camp.

The remaining rabbit meat corn soup was also taken outside the camp by him.

Then, he and Hua Yun began their night watch in shifts.

The lynx, having exceeded its activity levels during the day, had now plunged headfirst into Hua Yun’s embrace, snoring away.

The golden eagle nestled in the sled, resting in the little nest prepared for it by Hua Yun.

...

The night grew darker.

Night-watch Hua Yun leaned against a tree, listening to the sounds around.

Apart from the occasional rustling of snow shaking off the treetops, there were also the cries of some unknown birds.

All were reassuring white noise.

Often, these sounds are even played as sleep aids, lulling people to sleep.

Such was the case for Hua Yun.

She yawned, feeling her eyelids growing heavy.

Fortunately, Hua Yun reacted in time.

She scooped a handful of snow, rubbing it on her face.

Perking herself up.

Looking at the time, there was still an hour until the shift change.

Hua Yun planned to take a few steps around the camp to keep herself awake.

As she moved, in the woods, three little beasts that had been following Hua Yun slowly approached the camp.

They were drawn by the aroma of food.

The first little beast that discovered Hua Yun held a fairly high status among the three, somewhat like a leader.

With its keen sense of smell, it pinpointed the food scraps and innards Chen Wen had discarded.

Driven by the belief of ”even a mosquito is meat,” the three little beasts arrived at the discarded spot and began eating.

Their eating sounds were very quiet, hard to be heard by a normal person like Hua Yun.

Moreover, she was actively moving, her sounds masking the little beasts’ dining noises.

The little beasts devoured quickly.

They chomped down on the innards, uncaring whether dirty or clean, swallowing everything in one gulp.

Like the reincarnation of starving souls.

The innards were finished, but these offerings couldn’t satisfy their enormous appetites.

Soon, led by the leader, they found the bones.

Crunch crunch.

Just like munching crispy fries, the little beasts began chewing through the bones.

This time, Hua Yun sensed something amiss.

The sound was too loud, enough to raise alertness.

Hua Yun swiftly grabbed the bow and put the machete on her back.

She wasn’t sure if the outside creatures bore ill intent, nor could she confirm if they posed a threat to their lives.

So, she didn’t wake Chen Wen.

Just as Hua Yun took out the flashlight, planning to locate the source of the sound outside.

Bang!

A crisp sound, Chen Wen abruptly woke up.

”What’s that noise!”

Chen Wen acted as if he never fell asleep, swiftly unzipping his sleeping bag, putting on a coat, and coming out.

Hearing this, Hua Yun softly said, ”Something in the shadows touched our pot, it’s a dark figure, fast and nimble, but not too big, probably not a wolf.”

Not being a wolf meant that the shadow didn’t pose a mortal threat to them.

Chen Wen breathed a sigh of relief, feeling more at ease.

He gazed into the pitch-black forest, took the flashlight from Hua Yun.

The pot had been touched, the lid fell to the ground.

The bang should have been the sound of the shadow knocking the lid off the pot.

”Can you tell how many animals there are?”

Chen Wen asked, he now had a vague guess about the intruding creatures.

After all, not many carnivorous animals were still active.

Hua Yun shook her head, ”I’m not sure, but I’ve only seen one shadow so far.”

”Seems to be something good at hiding, I have a pretty good idea what it might be.”

Chen Wen said confidently.

He immediately roused the lynx and the golden eagle.

Although he was looking at Hua Yun, he was speaking to the animals, ”Alright, I’ll have the golden eagle soar above us, it can alert us immediately if something enters the light, meanwhile, let the lynx listen closely to locate the creature, if it spots anything, try shooting an arrow, we have plenty of arrows, sacrificing one or two can be spared.”

Upon hearing Chen Wen’s command, the golden eagle and the lynx understood.

With a wave of Chen Wen’s hand, the golden eagle took flight, occupying the airspace.

The lynx perked its ears, nose twitching constantly.

Chen Wen was similar to the lynx, having [Red-Nosed Rudolph], his sense of smell was far superior to an average person, not just by a little bit.

He could barely hold a position among predators in terms of hardware.

Amidst this scale of reconnaissance, soon, the lynx made a discovery.
