Wilderness Survival with Druid System

”What do we do now?”

Chen Wen asked Hua Yun.

After all the vigorous activity, his heart was pounding, and he could hardly think straight.

Above, Hua Yun frowned deeply and said, ”It’d be fine if it were just these three, but...”

Before he finished speaking.

Along with the sound of a series of howls.

Six wolves slowly surrounded them.

They spread out in a fan shape, hiding in the darkness.

The three wolves attacking Chen Wen also slowly retreated into the dark.

They were smart, aware that Chen Wen and Hua Yun had long-range attack methods.

Therefore, they chose to hide in the dark, constantly pressuring Chen Wen and Hua Yun.

Hoping to make them make a mistake or misjudgment, ultimately giving the wolves a chance.

When facing large prey, like moose or muskox.

The wolves either use this method, or they chase the herd, causing the old, weak, sick, and disabled to fall behind.

This is their most practiced tactic.

With the rising howls, both Chen Wen and Hua Yun started feeling the impact.

Those howls seemed to carry a magical fear-inducing power.

Both Chen Wen and Hua Yun began to feel panic building up inside.

Fortunately, Chen Wen slapped himself to calm down.

He quickly climbed up the tree to have a thorough discussion with Hua Yun.

...

While Chen Wen was in a fierce battle with the wolf pack.

A mine tunnel leading to a deep mountain lake.

The mercenaries had transformed it into a makeshift prison, locking up four survivors together.

Some of the crew were there too, but most of them were being held at the camp by the mercenaries.

The mercenaries needed the staff to continue searching for gold.

In comparison, these useless people were locked up here.

”Do we still have a chance?”

It was Hank who asked.

The hiking expert was still relatively calm.

He had trekked through conflict zones before, so this situation wasn’t unfamiliar.

He also had experience with worse situations.

Ludwig shook his head, somewhat dejectedly: ”I don’t know.”

”Haha, are you just a fool and unlucky!”

Jenny mocked without restraint: ”First you pledged loyalty to Belmont, then betrayed him for Pat, just to keep the gold, and in the end, got yourself picked over by mercenaries. Now you get nothing!”

Ludwig was ashamed and angry upon hearing this.

He retorted, ”As if you, Jenny, have gained anything, you’re stuck here just like me!”

”Hmph, maybe that black mercenary needs someone to satisfy his desires, want to volunteer yourself?”

”Bastard!”

Jenny and Yang Feng shouted at the same time, provoking an impatient rebuke from a nearby mercenary.

Seeing the situation.

It seems they can’t form an alliance now.

Hank shook his head, stopped thinking about it, and lay down to rest.

Just then, Ludwig said, ”I was just thinking, maybe we’re not completely hopeless.”

”Oh?”

”Remember those two from Hua Country? They’re still surviving out there, if they notice something odd here, they might notify the crew, or report back to the second town.”

Hearing this, hope reignited in Hank’s heart.

He sat up, about to speak.

But Jenny doused the hope with cold water: ”Their communication equipment has already been swapped out, it’s unlikely they can contact the crew, as for returning to the second town? Is it even possible? We know how much effort it took and how many shortcuts we took to get here.”

Hank felt his flame of hope extinguish.

”Not necessarily.”

Yang Feng mumbled at this time: ”That Hua Yun is really remarkable in wilderness survival, another Chen Wen, though I haven’t heard of him, I saw his file before coming here, he seems skilled at survival.”

Hank asked a bit more: ”Are they really that strong?”

”Even if they’re strong, can they be stronger than mercenaries? Stronger than the wolf pack?”

Jenny cut in: ”Not mentioning the armed mercenaries, the mercenaries drove away the pack of gray wolves in our direction!”

”Even if they could make it here, they might already be the wolves’ victims!”

This sentence left everyone silent.

Especially Yang Feng.

He was among those driving the wolves, and even with guns, the wolves almost bit off a lone mercenary.

That person is still lying on a stretcher now.

Sigh, just hope these people are only after riches, not lives!

Yang Feng shook his head, and like Hank, lay down in the sleeping bag.

...

In the tree.

Despite the wolf pack’s continuous howls, Hua Yun and Chen Wen roughly figured out a solution.

”We can’t let them keep interfering, I feel like we should catch the leader first, find the wolf king, take it down, and we might scare off the pack!”

Chen Wen seriously said: ”So I plan to go down, draw out the pack, and see if I can lure out the wolf king.”

Hearing this, Hua Yun said: ”How are you planning to lure it? These wolves are very smart and cunning.”

”They even deliberately avoid the flashlight, hiding behind trees.”

Saying this, to confirm his words.

Hua Yun took a flashlight and shone it into a dark spot.

It lit up a slightly smaller female gray wolf.

As soon as it was in the light, it howled and darted behind the spruce.

”Damn it, have they become spirits?”

Chen Wen was a bit speechless.

The wolves were using cover, who could you complain to about this?

”What if we put out the fire to make them come out?”

Chen Wen suggested: ”These wolves mainly avoid the firelight, if the fire’s out, maybe they’ll come out.”

”We still have flashlights, even if there’s no fire, we can lock onto them with the flashlights.”

Chen Wen’s plan was very risky, honestly, Hua Yun wasn’t keen on it.

But without choosing, delaying.

They couldn’t afford to delay.

After all, they were still disconnected and needed to contact the crew quickly.

”Let’s try it, it can’t be worse than now.”

Chen Wen said, looking into the darkness.

[Extreme Vision] allowed him to slightly see through the darkness.

There, hidden, was a large black wolf.

Chen Wen felt this guy might be the wolf king, he planned to act after the campfire went out.

Seize the opportunity in the pitch-dark, unseen by Hua Yun.

Activate [Night Shadow] and take down this suspected wolf king.

Once the wolf king was dead, the wolf pack would lose its leader and surely fall into chaos.

This is when using bear spray or fire to drive them away would have the highest success rate.

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun didn’t say anything.

Just like Chen Wen convinced her.

Could their situation get any worse?

They were already out of touch with the crew and trapped in the tree by the wolf pack.

The reindeer had already fled, and the lynx and two birds couldn’t help much.

Either they stay in the tree until morning, hoping the wolves leave.

Or gamble as Chen Wen suggested, fighting for a way out.

Anyway, according to Chen Wen, North American gray wolves have steely determination.

Without external forces, expecting them to abandon the hunt and retreat themselves is almost impossible.

For a piece of meat, these hunters will chase for days.

Describing these close relatives of dogs as sticky plasters is quite apt.

Hua Yun agreed with Chen Wen’s plan.

This time, Chen Wen didn’t let the lynx, Golden Eagle, or Snowy Owl assist.

Against North American gray wolves, their fighting power was insufficient.

The lynx was even on the wolf’s menu.

Sending it to battle would be too harsh.

Therefore, Chen Wen decided to go in alone this time!
