The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”Come, come, let me introduce everyone!”

Feng Jing seemed oblivious to the strange atmosphere in the meeting room as he cheerfully introduced everyone—

”This is He Tiantian, our ’Eldest Miss.’

Then, he introduced Fu Shaojing, Wu Kai, and Cheng Yiming one by one.

He Tiantian smiled obediently, greeting the three big names in the entertainment industry.

Although Fu Shaojing and the others were internally repelled by He Tiantian, who seemed to have connections, they all mixed in the same circle and wouldn’t easily tear each other down without knowing her background.

On the surface, the three were very polite.

After a round of introductions and greetings, the atmosphere in the meeting room eased significantly.

”Tiantian, take a seat!”

After the pleasantries, Feng Jing pointed to a spot beside him, signaling He Tiantian to sit down.

He Tiantian didn’t stand on ceremony and sat down directly.

Fu Shaojing and the others glanced aside again—this young girl was indeed not reserved.

Seating arrangements in the entertainment industry are really particular, even in informal occasions, seats are arranged according to seniority, fame, status, and so on.

He Tiantian, that’s her name, right?

The director let her sit beside him, and she didn’t hesitate at all, sitting face-to-face with the newly crowned Best Actor Fu Shaojing.

”This is the new script, everyone take a look, and then we’ll do a read-around.”

Feng Jing didn’t continue wasting time; he knew that everyone had issues with He Tiantian’s ”parachuting in.”

They were also quite resistant to any script changes.

But, this movie was his, and he wanted more than anyone for it to be the best.

And He Tiantian had people supporting her at the top; at Feng Jing’s level, money was no longer a concern, and he worried about deeper issues.

For example, his film ”Dawn” was a spy war drama, inevitably touching on some sensitive topics.

No matter how careful Feng Jing was, he could accidentally cross a line without knowing it.

If there were someone at the top, not to say they’d make an exception for him to pass the review, but at least they could give him pointers, telling him which parts need modifications.

This way, he could avoid many detours.

Feng Jing wasn’t sure how powerful He Tiantian’s backing was, but when he closed his eyes, he could picture He Tiantian appearing in the VIP seats during the Spring Festival Gala recording.

And the lawyer He Zhiqian that He Tiantian brought to sign the contract that day wasn’t someone money could easily hire.

...Might as well take a gamble; perhaps there’d be unexpected gains.

Besides, Feng Jing wasn’t arbitrarily changing the script to force more scenes.

Similar plots were in the initial setting, but Feng Jing worried about not finding a suitable actress, which led to revisions.

The so-called new script was actually the first version of the script. Maybe it had a bit more melodrama, but it was more exciting and richer, capable of balancing the rigidity and monotony of male-oriented shows.

Fu Shaojing, Wu Kai, and Cheng Yiming didn’t speak and silently accepted the new script.

Though they weren’t conversing secretly, they had their own thoughts: if the script changes are too outrageous, I’ll protest for sure!

Alas, they couldn’t be blamed for treating it as a serious matter; sometimes, a production would completely ruin a good script to compromise with investors.

A clear workplace drama could spawn an unnecessary romantic subplot just to promote a female supporting character stuffed in by the investors.

In what should be a major female lead or male lead show, after repeatedly adding scenes and script changes, the third female character appears more often than the female lead.

Clearly... there are too many chaotic phenomena in the entertainment circle, even big names like Fu Shaojing have experienced it.

But, this time was truly different. It wasn’t one of those 50-60 episode TV dramas where you can add some filler and extra plot lines while preserving the protagonist’s scenes.

This was a movie, after all, with at most 150 minutes.

Earlier, when Director Feng introduced He Tiantian, he mentioned she was playing the ’Eldest Miss’ in the film.

This was merely a small role of less than five minutes of screen time, existing in the male lead Guo Zhenhua’s memory.

Director Feng wanted to add scenes for He Tiantian and even changed the script.

Fu Shaojing and others couldn’t help but speculate based on the usual patterns of adding scenes in the film industry: could it be that Guo Zhenhua would have a love scene with his White Moonlight, the Eldest Miss?

However, such a small character had little impact on advancing the main storyline. Even if they added extra material, how much could they actually extend her screen time?

Wu Kai was playing Guo Zhenhua, a young ruffian from the streets.

But, at the start of the story, he had already become a second lieutenant in the Guo Party, an intelligence officer, while his past as a ruffian was long gone.
