The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”Yeah, we really got scared. But we didn’t forget you—”

”Tch! What are you explaining? So what if you forgot? We’re just classmates, not his family or anything. Why should we be responsible for his safety!” In fact, they saved themselves after all the hardships.

No one came to rescue them, so why should they be judged by Shen Hetian as if they were criminals?

At first, a few people apologized guiltily, but as the conversation went on, someone among them shouted discontentedly.

These words seemed a bit cold, but considering they were in an apocalypse, and when they just escaped from the campus, many classmates did not hesitate to use those around them as meat shields to save themselves...

Compared to those people, Wang Zimo thought they were already quite decent.

At most, they just didn’t go to save Shen Hetian, but they didn’t harm him, right!

”No way! No way! Does not directly killing someone mean not harming them?”

The chubby Fei Hanqing hid behind He Tiantian, stealthily listening to their conversation, and roughly figured out the situation.

He looked at the big brother with a bit of sympathy but more empathy—both were people abandoned by the world.

It turned out he was just like the big brother, poor guys abandoned by roommates.

However, it seemed the big brother was even more pitiful. Although Fei Hanqing was left behind, his roommates didn’t tie him up and leave him in a dorm with the door wide open.

There were a lot of zombies in the dorm building.

Fei Hanqing didn’t even need to see it with his own eyes; just thinking about it allowed him to deduce the critical situation the big brother was in.

Probably, the big brother erupted his power at that time.

The broadcast mentioned that besides the initial virus triggering superpowers, people might also awaken superpowers in dire situations.

Fei Hanqing’s seemingly innocent eyes glinted with a light of insight.

But, with the ample flesh on his face, his already small eyes seemed even smaller.

If an outsider didn’t observe carefully, it would be hard to notice the change in his gaze.

Feeling like he had grasped the ”truth,” the eager-to-curry-favor Henchman Fei didn’t hesitate at all; he immediately made a sarcastic remark.

”You tied people up, saying it was to prevent them from turning into zombies; that’s understandable!”

”But when you left, you didn’t close the door properly, directly exposing a brother who lived under the same roof to the claws of zombies. That’s not simply ’seeking advantage and avoiding harm’; that’s freaking murder!”

Fei Hanqing mercilessly tore apart Wang Zimo and the others’ disguise.

”What murder? Don’t say it so harshly!”

”Yeah, we were just too panicked and forgot to close the door!”

”Yeah yeah, even speaking of yourselves, when you were running for your lives, did you have the leisure to close and lock the door?”

”...Hetian, we indeed were negligent, but we really didn’t do it on purpose!”

Wang Zimo and the others quickly defended themselves.

Although it’s the apocalypse, everyone minding their own business is the most normal choice.

But since the apocalypse just arrived, people have seen the brutality and bloodiness of the end times, but they haven’t completely twisted and lost their humanity yet.

Especially these young college students like Wang Zimo, who still cared about face and reputation.

To be publicly exposed for their previous ”selfishness” and ”cruelty,” though they felt justified, the gazes and murmurs of those around them still stung their pride and dignity.

Of course, the most important part is that they said, ”Not saving others is a normal choice,” but now they still need the Soldier’s rescue and protection.

They could abandon their ”brother” who lived with them for three or four years in the same dorm; why should they expect strangers like the Soldier to go all out to save them?!

This is a blatant double standard!

He Tiantian saw their eager explanations, but ultimately, they were just saying: In the apocalypse, you can’t use past moral standards to judge others.

Their choices are just human nature.

Maybe it hurt ”Shen Hetian,” but they weren’t intentional.

He Tiantian: ...

Alright, though it’s a bit far-fetched, it’s not without reason.

”Okay, I understand you guys didn’t intentionally try to murder me!”

He Tiantian curled her lips, her gaze sweeping over their backpacks one by one, ”Yeah, it’s the apocalypse. Why should I still use peacetime moral standards to judge you guys?”

Wang Zimo and the others heard He Tiantian say this, but they weren’t at all relieved.
